The Search I sought You through the blazing fire, My only Love and heart s desire; And through the dreadful dark profound, I sought You where You might be found.
And where did I find You waiting, Lord? Were You like a river hard to ford? Were You upon some mountain height? Or a far land, hidden out of sight?
No matter where I looked for You, I always looked in vain; For I always tried to see You In the thunder and the rain.
I searched so hard in places dread, That I missed the wholesome word; But, in Your House I shared Your Bread, And knew You for my Lord. He Comes At journey s end this night I bide, My emptiness stands mocking; I hear His footsteps halt outside- I hear Him knocking, knocking;
“Oh, stay, good Lord, from Heaven above- Let me rise and serve You more! Do not end my days till I have loved, And opened my true heart s door”.
“Fear not-your dearest joy I have won: Your last breath is blessed with love s charms- You will not depart till My Kingdom has come, And your children are safe in My arms”
