The Peace

I pray a future as the past-
But war cease like a sigh;
And when the peace shall come at last,
Let not man's valour die.

Oh, let not deeds of glory fade,
When the sword is cast away;
Still let the knight defend the maid,
And the fearful dragon slay.

Let us hope to have honest poverty,
And thus have perfect charity;
The grace of generosity,
And the flower of liberality.

I pray that some will sail the sea,
And harvest the ripened grain;
I pray that others graced will be
To sing the Tale Divine.

But, most I pray that courage true
Shall waken once again;
And show, through deeds of glory
The greatness given to men.

When after-times shall rise again,
To live once more they'll seem:
In the legends that they'll tell you,
And in the dreams they'll dream.
