His Praise

O God, most High, most Holy,

May I Your praise employ;

May I love You for Your Beauty,

May I love You for Your Joy!

And for the spangled dewdrops,

And for the morning ray;

For the waning of the moonlight,

And the dawning of the day.

For the waters and the seas,

For the spring and for the breeze;

For the harvest and the grain,

For the earth and for the rain.

For Your Heavens and Your Glory,

For the seed of life begun,

For the bitter tears You shed

For Your beloved Son.

For forgiveness and for mercy,

For the sun that rules the day,

For the love of all Your children,

And for peace on earth I pray.

Mid all these praises, only one-

The song my spirit sings:

I love You for Yourself Alone

More than all these things!
