An Excerpt:

1988

How hot it was that summer
So hot it would melt the roads I traveled
Into rivers of soft tar and rock
But I loved it all
Those endless summer days
When the sun breathing fire
Chased away the clouds and rain
The feel of the heat
Rising off the asphalt
As I pedaled and sweated
Through two thousand miles
Of hills and fields and woods
Down roads I've known all my life
Going nowhere with no destination in mind
But always returning
With the sun on my shoulders
The wind at my back
To that special place called home
