Chunky Puffs! YUM! YUM! YUM!

Interview

With Edward Garvar

Ed, Edd n Eddy

1999-2009

July 25, 2014

JXP: How did you get started in the voice acting industry and how did you get the role as Aardvark?

EDDIE: I've been in VO since I seriously started training in 2007, and I landed my first real gig in 2009 - which was actually the Aardvark role. I had access to the audition because I knew somebody who knew somebody, as is often the case.

JXP: What was it like to work with Kel Mitchell?

EDDIE: I never actually worked with Kel Mitchell because our characters would be recorded at different times... most of the time parts are actually recorded separately. That's part of the challenge in interactive voice over. I did meet him twice however... cool cat.

JXP: Did you work on the Discovery Kids show Tutenstein because I went to your website and heard several bits of lines from that show such as a villain and a hot dog vendor?

EDDIE: Good ear for the Tutenstein! I didn't do the real show, we just used snippets of the scripts to help create my animation demo

JXP: Are you active on Voice123?

EDDIE: I am very active on Voice123, and get a lot of work through the site. It's a part of my daily life. I was trained privately for years by someone I know who is a great and hugely established VO artist. I owe a lot to her training.

JXP: Any advice for a voice actor like myself?

EDDIE: My best advice is simply to never stop developing yourself, and as it was told to me, don't be afraid to invest in yourself. Don't need it to work out at any particular point... just keep on working, embrace the process, and it will work itself out. Most long term goals require discipline and endurance. It's well worth it!

JXP: How much did you get paid, anyway?

EDDIE: I shouldn't go into how much jobs pay, but they are all unique and fun in their own way.

JXP: Have you watched the original Pink Panther / Aardvark shorts?

EDDIE: I grew up watching reruns of the original Pink Panther, and before recording the new Aardvark for Pink Panther & Pals, I re-watched almost ALL of the old Ant & the Aardvark spots.

JXP: What projects are you currently working on?

EDDIE: I recently voiced some commercials for the upcoming football season on FanDuel.com - not yet released.

JXP: Is it Eddie Garvar or Ed Zachary?

EDDIE: Do you mind telling me how you correlated Ed Zachary with me... Eddie Garvar is the real name.

JXP: On the Voice123 profile for Ed Zachary, he had the same credentials and demos as you have. So, yes. Ed Zachary is the correct moniker. Care to explain?

EDDIE: The use of two names is to delineate between union and non-union jobs... which people commonly do. "Ed Zachary" is the non-unon version. Thanks for getting in touch!

We all watch Ant & Aaardvark when the adults were kids. It was as good as ice cream. But now Cartoon Network made a revival of the shows called Pink Panther & Pals. Meet Eddie Garvar, the new voice of the lovable Aardvark in the revival who we contacted in voiceover service, Voice 123.
