Chunky Puffs! YUM! YUM! YUM!

A Brief Exchange
With Danny Cooksey

Ed, Edd n Eddy

1999-2009

Danny Cooksey, the first non-cartoonist I interviewed, is a voiceover actor since childhood. He is known for being Stoop Kid on Hey Arnold!, Montana Max on Tiny Toons, Jack Spicer on Xiaolin Showdown and more. I asked him some important questions.

February 24, 2014

JXP: Hello Mr. Cooksey. I am a big fan of your work and i would like to ask you some questions.
   DC: Shonuff.

JXP: How long have you done voiceover?
DC: Since I was like 9 or so

JXP: So, you were a child actor then?
DC: Yeah I started acting around 7 or so. Dukes of hazard was my first thing

JXP: You were the stoop kid from Hey Arnold! right?
DC: Yes I was. Funny that a few hours of work and everybody remembers that one

JXP: How old were you at the time?
   DC: I'm guessing.maybe 14 15

JXP: What was it like working with creator Craig Bartlett and fellow kid actor Toran Caudell [Arnold]?
DC: Craig is great worked with him a few times on things. But I was by myself in recording. Popped in did it and left. I don't think I have ever seen it.

JXP: So you went into a vocal booth fit for one and once your done, they get the next actor to record?
DC: Yeah sometimes its a group sometimes han solo

JXP: You were also Jack Spicer on Xiaolin Showdown?
DC: Yeah that was usually a full cast at once

JXP: What was it like working with Christy Hui, Tom Kenny and Tara Strong?
DC: That show was a lot of fun

JXP: Yes. But any interaction with Tara and Tom?
DC: Oh yeah its hardly a job what we do. It's always a lot of laughs and playing around.

JXP: How come your not in Xiaolin Chronicles for Disney; the spinoff of Xiaolin? The voice is different and its less funny.
DC: Why thank you. They used Canadian actors for the new show.

JXP: They can have both American and Canadian actors. Mucha Lucha did it with Lee Tockar.
   DC: I don't know.

JXP: Any qualities of Jack that you might have?
   DC: Ha ha our voice

JXP: You were Montana Max on Tiny Toons. Another Spielberg/Warner production. Correct?
   DC: Yup

JXP: What was it like working with Charlie Adler, Steven Spielberg and Rob Paulsen?
DC: Well spielberg was not there. But the cast was amazing. Still see them here and there from time to time

JXP: So you are Hot Streak on Static Shock. Any funny moments or favorite episodes of the show?
   DC: Nothing specific.

JXP: So you had fun times with Phil LaMarr?
DC: It was fun cast. Kevin Michael Richardson and I usually sat next to each other. And that's always fun

JXP: As Brad from Kick Buttowski, any lines you thought they were funny?
DC: Most that a funny show.

JXP: Also, what was your favorite experience as Dave from Dave the Barbarian for Disney?
DC: Easy the recording sessions. Great fun cast, it was a big party

JXP: You reunited with Tiny Toons co-star Tress MacNeille. She was both Babs and Fang. And also Static Shock co-star Kevin Michael Richardson. He was both Oswidge and Static's father.
DC: It was great. Too much fun. Maybe that's why it was only a season. Hey man hit me up again if you see I'm on. Just finished dinner. Gonna eat. Peace man
