Chunky Puffs! YUM! YUM! YUM!

And Now, It's Time for Brad deGraf

Ed, Edd n Eddy

1999-2009

May 24, 2016

JXP: What got you interested in animation, at what age?

BRAD: Computer graphics, which I learned on the job at about age 30

JXP: Where did you study and what animation techniques have you mastered?

BRAD: Learned on the job, computer animation mostly. but my company specialized in digital puppetry and we had lots of talented animators

JXP: How did you develop Colossal Pictures?

BRAD: I joined them after they had been around for 15+ years

JXP: You are the creator of the lost animated series on Cartoon Network, The Moxy Show. How was the idea of the show conceived and what made you decide to choose a place like Cartoon Network and Hanna Barbera?

BRAD: I didn't create it. The Cartoon Network president had worked with Colossal on station identity for other channels, and we pitched them on the idea of a live host character.

JXP: Have you ever met or worked with Bill Hanna, Joe Barbera, Fred Seibert, Mike Lazzo and Andy Merrill? Any fun experiences with them or the Moxy crew?

BRAD: All but Andy Merril. Lots of fun experiences, in particular working with the voice Bobcat Goldthwaite, live on the Cartoon Network on the day they launched. See the Moxy reel . Hanna and Barbera had nothing to do with Moxy.

JXP: Was Scott Fellows, creator of 3 live-action shows "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide", "Big Time Rush" and "100 Things to Do Before High School" and 2-animated shows "Johnny Test" and "Supernoobs" involved with Moxy?

  BRAD: No.

JXP: Mostly working with CG animation, have you ever tried experienting with 2D animation or any other forms of animation?

  BRAD: Not much personally.

JXP: Were Bob and Penn's lines scripted or were they allowed to ad-lib when speaking with the viewers?

BRAD: There was a lot of ad-lib. Bobcat would get raunchy in rehearsal but well behaved when live.

JXP: Do you have a copy of the comic "Whatever Happened to Moxy?" which was released for a limited time at Cartoonnetwork.com?

  BRAD: No.

JXP: When did the last episode of Moxy air?

  BRAD: Dunno.

JXP: Do you have any copies of The Moxy Show episodes?

  BRAD: Yes somewhere.

JXP: Any other projects your working on now? Does most of them involve the same procedure as Moxy?

  BRAD: Not in animation.

JXP: Do you have any kids? If so, would they be interested in some Moxy memorabillia?

  BRAD: No.

JXP: Any advice for an animator like myself?

BRAD: Do what you love, join ASIFA, study, practice

I got a hold of Brad deGraf, whose company Colossal Pictures developed The Moxy Show for The Cartoon Network. I called him but due to his busy schedule he recommended that I email him. However, he was still too busy to answer those questions and skipped out of alot of stuff I asked. So bare with me and enjoy some of the questions that he did answer.
