The King of Charlotte
Telling it like it is, live from the Queen City!
2008: A Sneak Preview

I've had time to grieve for some of the things that I lost in the past ten years. When I was still living in Maryland, I never got to finish college, I didn't get my driver's license, and I had zero friends to keep me from mixing in with the wrong crowd. Now is the time to lose the old "nobody" mentality and create a "somebody" mentality. New locale, new outlook. I've kept saying that I've never had time for a relationship, and if I did, I wouldn't want one; additionally, if anyone asked me what I was doing on Valentine's Day, I would say: "Not celebrating." The thing is, my late grandmother's birthday falls on the same day, so I believe that's reason enough to skip the celebration. But now I need to realize that no one cares about my celebrating her birthday (and by the way, she would've turned 78 this year), which is why the pressure's on me to either start a new relationship or face the consequences. I already have one big event planned this summer: my first-ever road trip to Atlanta. I can hardly wait for that, but before I can focus on it, I still need to find a new job to help pay for it. In two days, I'll start a new semester in college, and hopefully, I'll be halfway towards my long-overdue goal of graduation. I'd only have an Associates' Degree, but still, I would be satisfied with just the fact that I graduated from college. So basically 2008 will be all about change: New year, new rules, new attitude. I can hardly wait to get started on my self-improvement. Check back in 2009 to see how this year turns out. It'll be interesting, for sure...
