The End of Summer School (I'm Glad it's Over!)
Today is the last day of classes for the summer semester, and I am glad that it’s finally over! Of course, I’m also a little sad at the fact that it’s ending today, but I know that in a month, when the fall semester starts up, I will get back most of my friends from last spring. The saddest thing about it is that one of my friends will soon be leaving for NC A&T University in Greensboro. I already promised her that I would drive to Greensboro just to see her on my days off, which means that I must find a new job right now for that to happen. With gas being as expensive as it‘s been lately, I’m hoping for a very well-paying job (i.e. in the $10-12 range), which I’ve never had. Seeing that I will have day classes on Tuesday and Thursday when the fall semester begins, I’m hoping to work a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule to fill in the other days of the week. And I could work on Saturday if I had to. So I’ll be out scouting the websites of many potential employers like Aerotek and AppleOne, as well as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the city and county governments. AppleOne was where I obtained my last job, and I might go back there again. But for now, my main focus is to try to get that job with L&J Logistics, which I learned about through Leonard Hilliard, the man I met at a job fair. I’ve been trying to contact Mr. Hilliard via various methods, mainly phone calls and emails, but so far, I’ve heard nothing further. As of today, L&J is in the process of relocating from a small warehouse off Tuckaseegee Road (near Freedom Drive) to a new location on North Tryon Street. But still, I hope to hear from anyone about a job opening, whether or not it’s Mr. Hilliard. I’m also considering Aerotek as an alternative, as I hear they do direct hires and not temporary positions. If all goes well, I could have a new job by the end of this week, with the ideal schedule to accommodate my educational plans. In addition, I would like to have a flexible position, so that if I decide to attend school on Mondays and Wednesdays sometime down the road, I could switch to a Tuesday-Thursday-Friday schedule then. I’m happy that the summer semester is over, and I’m already looking forward to starting again this fall! I know that I’ll be breezing through the semester with the IT classes that fit me best. Overall, I’ve had a very fun experience in my first-ever summer school session, and hopefully, it will also be the last time I ever have to do this. Now my focus is on finding a job, and I know that one prospective employer will call with a job. I can see it coming now, hopefully by the end of this week. I must get ready for school now, so I have to close, but I hope that I go back to work very soon! Only one month to go before fall classes get underway… 2007-07-17 13:05:30 GMT
