Today, I begin my journey to my Associates Degree in Networking Technology. I'm currently mapping out my two-year plan for the program, which starts today with Algebra and continues tomorrow with Expository Writing. It feels good to finally get that second chance at a college degree that I had waited ten years for. When my children ask me how I made it (and hopefully I will), I'll just tell them that I did it with hard work and lots of determination, and I'll also add that it's never too late to earn another try at something you failed at. If you truly believe that another chance will come, it will arrive eventually. Last year, my second chance was at obtaining my driver's license, and now that I have that, I will continue my college education this summer and into 2009, when I plan to graduate. (On a side note, when I dropped out of UMES ten years ago, I blew my shot at a Bachelor's Degree in Music. Now I use that failure as motivation, and will continue to do so over the next two years.) I'll keep you posted on my college progress from time to time, and maybe I'll get hired by one of the premiere IT companies in the Charlotte area, which is becoming a hot market in that field.
