Rage, All in match

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

the next SCCW tag team champions?!

The scene opens to find Spike walking down a narrow gravel path.  The camera is behind him, so you can see the winding path leading down a small incline on the surrounding grass verges.  It's not the typical Autumn day though.  While there is brown leaves turning slowly to mush on the sides of the path, there is no rain, no cloud cover.  The sun is beating down on the grass, slowly melting away the light covering of frost on the tips of the grass.  There is no real warmth to the sun, who could expect that, it is December after all, but it's enough to melt the frost, so it's still a cool breeze.  Spike pulls the collar of his leather jacket up and and around the sides of his face to shelter him from the cold.  He continues down the winding path and ends up by the side of a lake.  He sits down on a small wooden bench by the side of it, and gazes out across the crystal blue water as he begins to speak.

Spike: It may not have become apparent to others, but in the last two weeks, I hit a slump.  After losing to CPT, I had to question myself.  Now I won't go on to bore everyone to death with all the findings of my 'soul-searching', but I did have a moment of clarity.  While my 'slump' didn't cost me in the ring, I was only facing a man by the name of Dangerous Dude, so that hardly counts for me.  I was pushed into a match with a nobody, does anyone know the last time that happened to me?  Exactly, I am beyond the likes of Dangerous Dude.  I don't say things like this to be hated or loathed, I just state the truth.  Everyone knows that I am the man to beat around here, hell even BBK and Rage's arguments are spilling out to who could get the better of me.  Speaking of Rage, I have a few things that I think he should hear.

I think you even know what it's all about don't you Rage?  Your actions last week after my match on Slams, remember?  I'm sure you do.  Now the old Spike, the one from a few months back, would've leaped down his throat and ripped him a new one right about now, but not this time.  I've had my past with you Rage, and it was one hell of a roller-coaster.  You beating me, me beating you, barbed wire, paramedics, heavyweight championships, do you remember all that?  How could you not, it was, for a lack of better terms, unforgettable.  While we went back and forth numerous times, with titles changing hands, it was memorable, but it will, over time be lost to the record books.  All that will be remembered from it is the outcome.  I know you know what the outcome was, but you just wouldn't want to say it would you.  I beat you Rage.  I walked out that of that barbed wire match with the title around my waist, you were stretchered out.  So next time you think of attacking me from behind like a coward, remember that.  Because there will be payback for your actions Rage, and if you'll excuse the tired old cliché, payback's a bitch!

Spike stands from the bench and rubs his hands together, breathing on them to keep them warm.  He starts to walk back up the path towards the top of the hill, speaking as he walks, his breath forming small clouds of smoke as his warm air meets the cold outside air.

Spike: After being lost from the upper echelon of Sunday Night Slam last week, I have been thrust back, and into a very high profile match.  First off, there is my partner, fellow SCCW legend, superstar and above all, friend, Sloppy Joe.  Me and Sloppy, we go way back, nearly a year now.  It's been nearly one year since I faced him in a memorable encounter for the Barrie District title.  That match cemented me into SCCW and pushed Sloppy even further.  From that match, we gained mutual respect for each other.  Since then, we've had each others backs.  We've both walked our own paths, but we knew that if we needed help, we could turn to the other.  We have crossed paths before though, resulting in us teaming together for the very first time.  We won.  I won't bore you with the details, because all that is important is that we won.  If on our first teaming we won, imagine the possibilities now.  I know I can trust Sloppy, he's a stand up guy, and after me helping see his 'special day' go without a hitch last month, I hope he feels the same.  Rayne, Danny, I'm just waiting for one of you to pick up on this and call it a 'mutual love-fest' or some other really original name, but I don't care.  The whole SCCW know our history, and soon we will make SCCW history again by capturing the tag titles.

Sloppy is no new-comer to tag team action, and neither am I.  Let me remind you two of something.  I won the SCCW tag team titles twice already.  Once with my long time friend Wolf, and once with Y2RR.  Now if I can win those titles with Y2RR, what do you think will happen when I have someone like Sloppy backing me up.  Judging by my three runs as Simcoe County Champion, the third time really is a charm.  Now after hearing you both go on, and on, and on, and on this week, it's kinda hard to remember who said what, it all just ran into one long ramble.  So first off, whoever said it was a mockery to see me with the Simcoe County Championship, well, I guess I'll just have to make a believer out of you won't I.

After seeing both of you put out a promotional video, there is one thing that sticks in my mind, and that's you Polar.  Do you realise that the match is this week?  'Cause with all your procrastinating and diversifying, anyone would think you were avoiding the subject of talking about it.  Face up to the facts Danny.  All your round the country trips don't count for shit when you get in that ring.  I am still yet to see anything from you that shows me that you even deserve to be in a tournament that is named after the great Tolos brothers.  You do have one different thing about you though.  While everyone else runs around bragging about their title wins and win loss records, you can brag about air miles.  You've got be collecting those things like they're the next big 'in thing'.  You want to know why I don't think much of you Danny?  How long have you been here in SCCW now?  Weeks?  Months?  I think months.  In all the time you have been here, this is the only time you have even become a blip on my radar.  You've achieved nothing.

Spike stops as he reaches the top of the hill and looks down at the grassy verges beneath him.  It's the typical scene for a park, kids playing, dogs running, even old couples out for a morning walk.  It's amazing how a bit of sunshine makes people forget about the cold weather.  He turns and walks along the top of the hill, towards the entrance to the park.  He continues to speak.

Spike: Being at the top like I am is a dangerous spot.  You have to watch your back, look out for the other guys trying to topple you.  But you also have to watch out for the 'new blood'.  The guys of tomorrow.  People like Ryan Burns, Kula and Coma.  SO I am watching everyone that could be a threat to me, and this is the first time I've even heard of you.  What does that say about you?  Nothing good.  Danny, you're entering the big leagues now, the deep end of the pool.  SO if you don't learn to swim, and fast, you'll just drown, flailing your arms hoping for someone to save you.  But no-one will, not Rayne Young, no-one.

Speaking of you Rayne, way to go.  You're right up there in the list of predictability.  First time back in a while, what should you be talking about...where you've been, what you're doing now, that type of stuff.  But what do you do, you go and be predictable and mention the Simcoe County Heavyweight Championship.  Boy, you don't even deserve to talk about that title, let alone compete for it.  Maybe you should worry about the tag tournament at the moment, because if you're distracted, if only for a split second, that'll be it, all she wrote, the fat lady will be singing, well you get the picture.  You'll have to excuse me if I forget to comment on any witty remark or anecdote that you came up with this week, you went on for quite a while, I might have dozed off while you were talking.

I hope you realise that this tournament is filled with tough competition, no-one has got an easy round and that's the way it should be.  This tournament is going to separate the weak from the strong.  The tag titles deserve real champions, not people like Dominant Species, and this tournament, will find true championship contenders.  Whether it be me and Sloppy or someone else, the champs days are soon to be numbered.

People have talked a lot about the implications of me and Sloppy winning this and facing Dominant Species, so I have decided to answer all of the nagging questions before they get to me.  I'm taking this one step at a time and I'm sure Sloppy Joe is as well.  Getting to the final of this is the first step, and then I guess we'll take it from there.  I do want Dominant Species to know this though.  If and when I do cross paths with you, any of you, it will be the end of you're group of bandits, and the end of your tyrannical rule over SCCW.  But first things first.  Rayne Young, Danny Polar, get ready, because me and Sloppy Joe, we mean business and I for one, am only in this tournament to win it.  See you guys Sunday.

Spike turns and walks away from the camera as the scene fades slowly to black.
