"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." beating a wannabe...again The scene opens to find Spike sitting a black leather chair, underneath a rather harsh white spotlight. Around him is a small set with a few things to make it more 'homely', like a lamp, a small plant and a picture hanging on the makeshift walls. In actuality, it wasn't an interview room, it's a small makeshift set in the middle of a larger room, surrounded by cameras and lighting equipment, all trying to give the impression of a single room. The joys of only being regional! A smaller man walks into the picture, with his back to the camera and sits down opposite Spike, revealing himself to be SCCW interviewer Craig James. Craig: Okay, it's late, no-one really wants to be here at this hour, so lets get this thing rolling. He points to the camera crew and they start filming the interview. Craig: First off, welcome Spike, I'm glad you could find time in your busy schedule to join us today. Spike: Thank you. I did manage to find ten minutes for you, what with all the preparations for the big event. Craig: I know you're a very busy man at the moment, so I won't keep you long. Before we get onto the inevitable, I'd like to ask you a few things about the SCCW at the moment. Spike: Go ahead. Craig: Well, last week, Extreme Warrior returned to SCCW rings with team NWA and now, he's back competing at Night of the Legends. In case you didn't know, he mentioned you in his last promotional video, claiming that the only thing you know is that he speaks the truth. Spike: Let me just stop you there Craig, 'cause I can see where this is going. I couldn't care less if he's back, and I think he knows that. He can talk all he wants to about how he's the best in SCCW and that's why he joined team NWA, it's all just one big blur to me when he starts on one of his tirades. In all fairness to him, he has beaten me in the past, but I think I will remind him of one thing. The reason I have this Simcoe County Heavyweight title, is because I had to earn it. When Friday Night Firefight joined back to Slam, there was qualifying matches for the belt, and mine, was against him. Listen up Warrior, all the talking you did up to that match was for nothing, 'cause I shut you up by beating your ass in the ring. So if you think you're the 'badass' around here, think again, 'cause you may have beaten me, but don't forget, I beat you as well. Craig: Well, I think that's all that needs to be said on that subject. Moving on. The most anticipated wedding of the wrestling year, Sloppy Joe and Zelda. What are your thoughts on that? Spike: Well, it will be an unforgettable occasion. Imagine their families getting together, not to mention Sloppy doing the Jewish things before it. But in all seriousness, I wish them both the very best. As many people know, Sloppy and I formed a 'friendship' a long time ago, based on mutual respect and understanding. Since then, I've seen him go down hill a little. With the shit he's been through though, who could blame him. All the crap with Dominant Species has really taken it's toll on him, but after this week, when he returns to action, I think we'll see a changed man. He deserves this day, and I'll be watching closely to make sure he gets it. Then after that, the only reason he'll look dejected and beaten is when the 'missus' starts nagging too much. Craig: *Craig laughs a little* Very true Spike, very true. Sloppy should've been playing a bigger part in the big show though. He was supposed to be fighting you in the people's choice match for the title, until CPT 'screwed' him over. What do you make of that? Spike: When it comes to that, what can I say that hasn't already been said. CPT screwed the fans out of their night, he cost them what they really wanted to see. This night was going to be memorable, for me, for Sloppy, the fans and the entire company. It's marking the one year anniversary, so what better way to treat our fans than let them see the two people they wanted to see fight, fight. But CPT stooped low on this one. He got himself a legal loop hole that I didn't know about and screwed over everyone. So when I say I wasn't happy to find that out, I think I speak for everyone. But don't worry, after I beat CPT this week, everyone will soon get to see Sloppy and me go at it one more time, cause anytime he wants a shot at the belt, he's got it. Craig: A true fighting champion, that's what I like to see. Now, for the inevitable questions, about CPT. I know you don't like talking about him, but if we didn't, then this interview would turn out pretty fruitless. Spike: It's not that I don't like talking about him, it's just that I flat out don't like him. Craig: With his actions as of late, I don't think you're alone in that one. Well, here goes. Are you intimidated at all by the thought of the Canadian Renegades? I mean, he says his group is all in place, but no-one even knows who's in it, that's got to be unnerving. Spike: A little maybe, but I'll deal with it. Let's face it, if CPT is the man he says he is, then he wouldn't want to win the title under tainted conditions. I know that wouldn't stop him from cheating though, but that's what I have to think. I know that the first chance he gets he'll try to steal the win, be it by interference, cheating anything, he'll try it. But I am prepared for that. Last time we met, he wanted the win badly, but this time, he's desperate. If he loses this time, where does that put him? He comes back from the loss, trying to proclaim he is a changed man and he has new found strength and allies, but if he fails to prove himself to them, he's worthless, a nobody. I think his actions had such an impact that not even he understands the severity of it. His 'followers' have rallied behind him to take Canadian wrestlers to the top. Last week, he had a chance to take tag gold, and failed miserably. If he falls at another hurdles, how can his 'followers' believe anything he says? If you ask me, when he loses, again, he'll have a revolt on his hands. Craig: I see your point. Why would they follow someone who cannot become the best, a valid point indeed. Would you speculate who was in the group? Spike: Knowing CPT, and all the bullshit he talks, it's probably him, Daz and Mapleleaf. But seriously, if there is a group, I don't know who would be in it. I'm not sure of anyone who would take orders from CPT. Craig: He has made claims that you need to be taken down a peg or two, to be put in your place so to speak. Spike: If he thinks that, and thinks he can do it, he's welcome to try. He said all the same crap the last time we met, "I'm determined", "I'm better than ever", "You've never seen me like this", but he failed. What makes him worthy of a re-match with me? If he couldn't beat me at his best, what difference will it make this time? I personally am sick of hearing him ramble on about how far he has come. Look at him, he's come so far from being a 'changed, more determined' man that he's lost two, soon to be three consecutive title matches. Sorry, but he seems like the old CPT to me. He's a pretender, a wannabe, he talks a big game, a very big game in fact, but he can never back it up. Craig: I know there are a lot of people who would want to see you shut CPT up for good, do you think that's a possibility? Spike: Maybe, but I doubt it. If the guy comes back from a big loss and still runs his mouth like he's doing now, I doubt it. I mean, he lost the rights to the Franchise name, but he's willing to take it back if I leave, what's that all about? Craig: He even said he'd take it back if he beat you this week. Spike: Considering the rights to that name aren't in the contract, I'd like to see him try. Before last week, I'd have settled it like a man. But seeing CPT stoop to using the law to get a re-match, I'd sue him for breaching contract in a heartbeat. In fact, if all traces of that name are not gone from him by the next Sunday Night Slam, I'll sue him anyway, just for the hell of it. Craig: I don't blame you, not one bit. Spike: Now now Craig, you're supposed to stay impartial *Spike laughs a little* Craig: I know, I know. Well, that's all we have time for really. Good luck this week Spike, I'm sure you'll put on one hell of a show. Spike: Thank you. It's the one year anniversary, I'll be pulling out all the stops. I'll stop at nothing to walk out of there still the Simcoe County Heavyweight Champion. Spike leans over to Craig just as he is extending his arm. The two men shake hands as the scene fades slowly to black. |
