Rage, Ryan Burns |
"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." third times the charm The scene opens to see Spike standing in front of a CD player in a large room. He presses a few buttons and the speakers come to life. He turns around and the room is full with about ten people. Spike is wearing a black t-shirt and blue denim jeans. Across his forehead is a large bandage, covering the cuts and scars from the brutal barbed wire match just days before. His arms are covered with small bandages as well, where the larger cuts are still prone to being re-opened. The smaller ones are left uncovered and are starting to scab over a little. Spikes sister walks over to him and begins to speak. Sarah: That looks like it still hurts. Does it? Spike: No not really. Not anymore, I won't lie though, it hurt like hell when I was in the ring. I mean you saw it, I nearly passed out from loss of blood, I could barely talk let alone stand. Sarah: I bet that didn't go down too well with Jane did it. Spike: How could it? I told her that the days of me competing in barbaric matches day in and day out were over. She believed me and changed her life completely because of it. I was telling the truth though, this was a one-off, I'm just having a hard time convincing her of that. Sarah: Understandably. She had to watch the love of her life get torn apart by barbed wire, and in her eyes, it was all just for a hunk of metal. Spike: I know. She doesn't think it was worth it, but I do, and if I had to, I'd do it again. You know why, because I won the belt, I won the one prize that is above all others in SCCW, and I did it in a historic battle. This is going to be one of those matches that will be remembered for years, and not only was I a part of it, but I won it. That means a lot to me, I just wish she could understand that. Sarah: Give her time, it's hard to get used to. Don't forget, I saw you doing all that crazy stuff before she did, and I'm okay with it now, yeah I still worry, but I know that you know what you're doing. Give her time and she'll be the same. Spike: I hope your right. I don't want to blow it again with her, not like this. Sarah: Of course I'm right, I'm always right. Now come on, you've got a celebration party with your name all over it. Let's mingle. Spike: Mingle? There's about ten people here, I know all of them. Can you class that as mingling? Sarah: Humor me. Spike smiles at his sister and they walk back over to the crowd of people. Spike accepts the praise from his guests as they talk and have a good time. The camera fades on the group. The scene re-opens a few hours later as Spike is closing the door to the last guests. He turns around to see his sster standing behind him. Sarah: Has Jane gone to bed? Spike: Yeah, she was really tired. Sarah: Well, I'm going now as well. I'll see you in the morning, good night champ Spike: Good night. Spike kisses his sister on the forehead and she turns to walk up the stairs. Spike walks back in the room where the 'party' was and sits down in a comfy chair. He takes his shoes off and rolls up one leg of his jeans. Underneath is a bandage across his knee with a stain of fresh blood on it. He sits back and begins to speak. Spike: I think it's safe to say that that is one match I won't be forgetting in a while. Rage, you took me to my limit last week inside the barbed wire ring, unfortunately for you I did the same, and your limit just wasn't as high as mine. Is this the part where I say that after all our bloodshed, all the brutality, I now respect you? Well I don't, at least no more than I did before. Rage, your time as a champion is over, go back to the beginning, start again, then come back and see if you have what it takes to pull off more than one big win, 'cause you see this right here. He points to the Simcoe County Heavyweight Championship on the side. Spike: That means that I can pull off the big wins all the time. That's the third time that belt has been around my waist, a historic achievement really, but you know what's going to be different this time? I won't lose it. That title is mine, and that's the way it's going to stay. Spike pauses for a moment as he unravels the bandage on his knee to reveal a deep cut that is oozing drops of blood. He sits back again and continues speaking. Spike: There have only been two other people that were involved in barbed wire matches, and now they're gone. I give it a week before Rage picks up his ball and goes home. But I won't, I've got longevity here, SCCW is my home, it has been now for nearly a year and it always will be. Most people would probably complain about being thrown in the ring this early after the brutal match, but not me. Sure I had to have a blood transfusion because of the sheer amount I lost, and I had to have too many stitches to count, but I'll get back up, that's what being the champion is all about. And who do they throw me in the ring with, Ryan Burns. I mean wow, this guys looking impressive. Undefeated so far, but no titles to his name. I see he picked up the SCCW wrestler of the week award though, also impressive, but not as impressive as five wrestler of the week awards. No doubt that this guy is going places, and hell, he's going there fast, but not through me. Ryan, this week, you're going up against Spike, ask around, everyone knows who I am, everyone will tell you the same thing. He's the best. I'm the best this company has to offer. Sure there will be some ignoramuses that will disagree like Jay Jerzey and CPT, but the know the truth really. Ryan, you want to be the future of SCCW, fine, but this is the present, I am the present of SCCW, not you. As you can tell, I'm walking in to this one, at less than one hundred percent, hell, I think I'll be lucky to walk into it at seventy percent, but I'm not making excuses for myself, I don't need to. I've never once made an excuse for a match I don't intend to start now. I will be there on Sunday and I will be ready to fight you. I'm sure your thinking that with me being injured, you can get lucky and pull off the biggest win of your career, but your wrong. You see, me at seventy percent is like all the guys you've faced so far at one hundred and ten percent. I'm not going to reel off a list of the guys you've beat 'cause I really don't care. This week, all I care about is you and me, in the ring, one-on-one. It'll be a good match, a classic if I was at full strength, but can you say that you will walk out the winner, and honestly and truthfully believe it? I don't know. Are you that self confident that you will disregard all of my past and blatantly say that you will beat me? Are you that foolish? I guess we'll see. See you Sunday Ryan. Spike stands a gingerly walks over to the CD player in the corner, switching it off before walking over to the corner of the room. He reaches for the light switch and flicks it off, leaving the room in complete darkness. |
