Vs Rage

Rage

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

On top of the mountain....again?

The scene opens to see Spike pushing open a glass door with strange symbols and patterns all over it.  Spike walks in and a bald man with a long goatee walks in from a back room.  He is wearing black jeans, a black t-shirt and a black leather waistcoat with his arms heavily tattooed.  In the middle of the room is a large chair, similar to that found at the dentist with a variety of equipment on a table at the side.  The man looks over at Spike and walks over to him, his hand outstretched.

Man: Hi Spike, it's been a while, what can I do for you?  On second thought, forget I asked that, it's a stupid question.  What tattoo can I do for you today?

Spike: Hi Frank.  I'm not sure, I want something to mark a new start, have you got that book still that I can take a look through?

Frank: Yeah, sit down, I'll just fetch it for you.  Can I get you a drink or anything while your here?

Spike shakes his head and sits down as he takes his leather coat off.  Frank returns with a catalogue of tattoos.  He hands it over to Spike and sits down next to him.  Spike flicks through the pages before stopping on one symbol in particular.  He points it out and Frank stands.

Frank: Okay, give me a minute or two while I get everything ready.  I'll give you a call when I'm set.

Spike nods and sits back in the chair.  He looks into the camera and begins to speak.

Spike:  You know something Rage, I don't think I'm alone when I say this, I'm really sick of hearing you speak.  Doesn't your voice get on your nerves, it irritates the hell out of me.  There's only so many times I can hear you say that you the 'Offspring of Extremity' as well.  I'll be glad to get in the ring with you just so I don't have to hear you whine anymore.  I'm really sick of all this playing around Rage, you know that I can beat you yet you still deny it with every breath in your body.  You want me to pry that title out of your cold dead fingers?  Fine, if that's what I have to do then I'll do it.  Do you realise that earlier this week, when I beat up those punks at the center, that that wasn't me training?  Do you remember me saying that it was a favour for an old friend?  no, of course you don't, you hear what you want to don't you.  I don't know why people even tune in to see you, I mean you're so boring.  Just like all the others.

I may not be the type of wrestler that people look at and want to look at but I don't care.  These days there is too many pumped up, generic, muscle-bound fools breaking into wrestling rings.  Take those trainees from the other day as a for instance.  They all looked the same, nothing to differentiate one from the other.  Nothing to make them stand out.  At least I look original.  That's what all these tattoos stand for, originality.  Each one has a story behind it, a meaning.  Take this one for example.

He points to one on his right forearm.

Spike: This is a pentagram.  Some may think it strange that a symbol often paired with the occult could be appealing to have permanently placed on ones skins, but not me.  It adds originality, it makes me stand out from the rest, well it did before it became a popular mark.  It used to be rare, never really seen, but not anymore.  People find things that aren't popular and they bastardize them until they are.  Anyway, I'm digressing.

Frank calls Spike over to the chair.  After a few minutes, the camera follows and zooms in on Spike.

Spike: Now this one, this is the latest of the lot, sure it's no skull breathing smoke from it's nostrils, but that wouldn't be original now would it.

Spike motions to the part of his hand where the tattoo artist is just finishing.  Frank stands and walks over to the back of the shop to fetch a drink.

Spike: This one isn't quite as controversial as a pentagram.  It's a Ankh.  It dates back as far as Egyptian mythology.  This is the symbol for life.  It was usually seen as an attribute of the Egyptian god Amen.  His name meant "what is hidden" or "what cannot be seen".  He was the god of breath of life that animates all living creatures.  I thought that marking the start of new life would be a good way to prepare for this week, as I also will mark the start of a new life.  This week, my life takes a new chapter, one where I realise my ultimate goal.  I will become the Simcoe County Heavyweight Champion for the third time and mark a new era in both my life and the SCCW.  No-one else in SCCW can boast having held that belt twice let alone three times.  You see, Amen, the Egyptian god, soon became more than just 'one of the gods'.  He attained a position of supremacy as I will this Sunday.  He also became known as one of the creators of the universe.  I will follow in his foot steps after this week, as I take my title back and sculpt the SCCW into the powerful force that it truly is.

The Ankh symbol has also been given a newer meaning.  It has become familiar with a gothic feel.  It represents the force that controls life and death.  Rage, I too will become that force when we meet inside a ring of barbed wire.  When that wire is tearing through your flesh and you are left with a crimson mask, you will realise that I am the force that controls not only life and death but everything in SCCW.  You may be holding that title at the moment Rage, but it takes more than that to prove that you are the very best.  You had one good night Rage when you beat me, but how many good nights have I had?  A countless amount.  I am the person that people still aspire to be, the person that everyone tries to live up to, and you'd do well to remember that.

I know I've said it before Rage, and to be honest I've had enough of hearing it as well, but this week, it all ends.  Your title reign, your career, and our encounters, it's all over.

Spike reaches forward and pushes the camera away from him as the scene cuts to a white static fuzz.
