Rage, CPT, Jay Jerzey |
"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." On top of the mountain....again? The scene opens to see Spike walk into a cafe. He looks around a little to see a set-up of about five computers on the one side of the room. He looks back at the sign of the cafe to see that it actually reads 'Internet Cafe'. He walks over to the counter and orders a cup of coffee. He stands at the counter looking back at the computers again, intrigued. When he gets his coffee he walks over to one of them and looks at the screen. A teenager, about the age of sixteen or seventeen is looking at a site called 'SCCW'. Is this just a freak coincidence or have the management opened up a web site and not told anyone? Spike looks harder at the screen to see a banner advertising Nowhere to Run. Now, even more intrigued, he tries to get the attention of the teenager using the computer. Spike: Hey, kid. Spike touches the boy on his shoulder, making him jump a little. The boy turns around and a look of surprise hits across his face. Boy: Oh my god! It's you....you're Spike...from SCCW...aren't you Spike: Yeah I am. Calm down, it's not like I'm a God or anything. Boy: Okay. My names Ben, I'm like your biggest fan. I've followed you since you're first match in SCCW, you know, the one against the Hitman, when Matt B. Wild interfered and cost you the match. Spike: Yeah, I remember, I was there after all. Spike motions towards the computer screen Spike: What's that? Is it a website you've found about SCCW, or have you done one of your own? Ben: It's an e-fed Spike: A what? Ben: An e-fed Spike: What's an e-fed? Ben: An e-fed is something that started years and years ago, no-one really knows how or when. It's a web site designed to allow you to role-play as your favorite wrestlers or as ones you make up. Spike: Why? What do you get from it? Ben: Nothing really. You just compete for make believe titles. Each e-fed has it's own way of judging winners, but most would have a couple of judges, then who ever gets the most votes, wins. Spike: And what do you 'role-play' about then? Ben: Well, I used to role-play as Shawn Michaels in this WWE federation and I did mostly in-ring stuff, you know trash talking, name calling all that sort of stuff, but then people started with out of ring role-plays, making up lives for the characters they played as, so I had to change with the times. Spike: If you were in a WWE federation, then what's that? Ben: Well, me and some other friends got sick of the other one, so we made our own, and it's based on SCCW. We run our stuff alongside yours. We have the same events, but different matches. I mean we couldn't have Jay Jerzey as the Barrie District Champion in ours, because anyone could beat him, the guy that controls him, well, he sucks really. Our Barrie District Champion is Y2RR, the guys a genius, he does some really good and original stuff. There is one thing that you might like to know though, the guy that controls you, Spike, he's the Simcoe County Heavyweight Champion. Just like you will be soon enough. Spike: Thanks for the vote of confidence. It never dawned on me before that people did this, it's kind of strange actually, to see people pretending to be me. Anyway, way off topic here but, are you coming to the show this week? Ben: Yeah, definitely, wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm going to be in the front row to see you kick Rages ass. Is it still the barbed wire match? Spike: Yeah, it is, it won't be pretty, but then again, anything involving Rage won't be pretty. Just out of curiosity, what's CPT doing in your federation? Ben: Nothing, we've given the guy chance after chance and he keeps blowing it, he's a perpetual failure. Spike: So some things are the same then. The two share a laugh at CPT's expense Spike: Listen, I've got to get going, I'll leave you here to carry on with your 'e-fed'. I'll see you at the show. Spike walks away from the computer as another teenage boy walks into the cafe. He walks past Spike and over to Ben, glancing back at Spike as he passes. Boy #2: Hey Ben, was that who I think it was talking to you? Ben: Yeah it was, he was checking out our fed. Spike hears the two carry on with their conversation as he walks out of the cafe and starts to head towards the local gym. Spike finishes off the rest of his coffee and throws the cup into a nearby bin. He puts both is hands into the pockets of his leather coat and pulls the collar up high around his neck to shield him from the ever increasing force of the wind. He looks straight forward while he is walking, not really at the camera but still to the camera. Spike: Last week's match was a minor setback for me, it meant nothing. Nothing has mattered a damn bit to me inside that ring since I lost what I want the most, the Simcoe County Heavyweight title. The only reason that I lost last week was because Jay Jerzey took it upon himself to get involved in my business. I guess the stalemate we came to in our match left him with a bitter taste in his mouth, so he had to make himself feel more important by getting one over on me. How did he do it? Face-to-face in the ring? No, he jumped me from behind, how classy. Jay, I had respect for you after our match, but you managed to destroy all that in one move last week. I will get around to dealing with you Jay, but not yet. Our time will come, but I have other things to do first. Last week, Rage made quite an accurate statement. Since beating me, all he's had is an easy ride. He hasn't even defended the title. First it was Johnny Elias, don't know who he is? My point exactly, he'll be gone before the month is out. Then there was Patrick McCarthy, well done Rage, you beat him, so did I, the week before. You want real competition Rage, well you're looking at it. Last time, you could barley walk when you left the ring, and neither could I, so let me ask you this. What do you think will happen at Nowhere to Run? I'm expecting you to come out with some tired old cliché about 'when the ring is surrounded with barbed wire...there will be Nowhere to Run', go on Rage, I know you're dying to say it. It'd be just your level of mentality to say it. This week will be a blood bath Rage, you know it, I know it, everyone planning on attending knows it. Before, I've said that some matches aren't about titles, they're about knowing who is better, but not this time. I KNOW I can beat you Rage, I KNOW I'm better than you, all I want from you is MY title. I don't care what I have to do to you to get it back, cripple you, end your career, I don't give a damn, not anymore. You're beneath me Rage, and I don't know how you pulled off the win last time, but this time will be a different story. Maybe you were rubbing a rabbits foot, maybe you were saying you're prayers, god who knows, maybe you were getting 'friendly' with the referee, but it's all about to change. Whatever luck you've been having, whatever miracles have happened, they're all about to end. I'm ready for a war this week Rage, are you? Are you ready to put everything on the line, your livelihood, your title, everything. This is probably going to be it for us Rage, our last encounter, for now anyway. If you lose, you'll be back at the bottom of the ladder, no re-match. If I lose, by the time I get a re-match you'll have lost the title anyway. So this is it. One last time. Me and you, barbed wire, what's it going to be Rage, have you got the balls to step up and be a man and defend that title, or will you prove to be nothing more than a paper champion? Only time will tell Rage, only time will tell. The camera stays on a straight line until Spike turns suddenly out of the shot. The camera swings to the left to see a door closing behind Spike, the sign above the door simply reading 'Gymnasium'. The shot becomes unfocussed slightly as the scene fades slowly to black. |
