Vs Rage for the Simcoe County Heavyweight title

Rage

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

The first of two...

The scene opens to a shot of Spike standing in the bay window of his living room.  The room is bright, with the sunlight reflecting off the white walls.  Spike is wearing blue denim jeans and a plain white t-shirt.  He has one hand to his ear, as the camera gets closer, it becomes clear that he is speaking on a cell phone.

Spike: Thanks Sarah, it means a lot to me.  I've given everything to this company and finally, after the longest sixty minutes of my life, I'm back on top of it again.

Sarah: No rest for the wicked though is there.  Who is it this week again?  Rage isn't it?

Spike: Yeah it is.  And I have to say, it's easier than I thought it would be.

Sarah: What is?

Spike: Getting inside his head.

Sarah: What do you mean?  He seems focused to me.

Spike: Well, even though he keeps saying how he is ready to win this week, I've made him choose a stipulation for the re-match he will get if he were to lose this week.  If he were really all that confident, then he would've just ignored what I said to him and told me that he wouldn't be needing a re-match.  So, I've already put the idea of loss into his head, and he's even looking forward to the re-match, so he won't be in this one as much as he should be.

Sarah: I don't know, all the mind games seem pointless.  If you can beat him, then why try to put him off?

Spike: Well, look at it this way.  I know that when I beat him this week, I will have to fight him again.  So, instead of having him at full strength for this one, I may as well wear him down mentally and have it a bit easier.  And let's face it, wearing down Rage mentally, isn't really that hard to do, I don't think he's playing with a full deck if you know what I mean.

Sarah: Sean, I always know what you mean.  Where's Jane today?  Is she settling in okay with you?

Spike: She's getting there.  It's a tough transition, picking up and moving hundreds of miles away, but she's coping.  She's gone out to look for a new job, but she's also thinking of going back to college up here.  You know, completely starting over.  Something new.

Sarah: Why not, she's capable of anything.  Anyway, sorry to cut this short, but I've got to go.  Kelly's been waiting for me to take her shopping for hours now, and if I don't go soon, I can sense a tantrum coming on.

Spike: I wonder where she gets that from

Sarah: Hey, I wasn't that bad.

Spike: Only joking.  I'll let you go then.  Speak soon.  Bye.

Sarah: Bye

Spike moves the phone from his ear and presses a button on it, ending the call.  After a few moments, he tosses the phone onto the leather settee.  He walks around the back of the settee and out of the large oak door.  He walks up the stairs and down a small corridor, and up to a set of large glass doors.  He swings the doors open and walks outside, onto a small stone balcony.  In the corner of the balcony is a small stone bench.  He steps up onto the bench and sits down on the edge of the balcony.  Spike gazes out across the fairly large lake that is only a few hundred yards from his house.  After the bad spell of weather earlier in the week, the sun was back and beaming down across the open grass land surrounding the lake.  The balcony has no shade from the weather, so Spike is also caught in the constant beams of sunshine.

Spike: That looks like something from a movie doesn't it.  It seems surreal.  In fact, it stands for quite a good analogy.  You see Rage, that lake represents SCCW.  Here I am, looking down on it from above, observing.  I see things from above everyone else, 'cause let's face it Rage, until someone takes this title from me, I am the best.  But if SCCW is the lake, then what are you?  Well, you're inside the lake, just like everyone else.  So here I am, looking down on it from above and what can I see.  Nothing.  Everything in that lake all blends together.  Nothing stands out from it above everything else, it's all the same.  Rage, you're just the same as everyone else in SCCW.  You don't stand out.  Sure, you've earned a shot at me by beating Angelo Rivera, but big deal, I did that, more than once.

Being trapped down there must be frustrating for you.  I can tell that you're trying to break free but things keep pulling you back under.  Losing big matches.  Blowing it when you could be taking glory.  You're trying very bravely to get above water, but you're just kicking and screaming.  It seems the more you try to get out, the more you get pulled back.  Eventually, when you've struggled enough, you'll give up and just drown down there with everyone else.  In the meantime, I'll still be sitting here waiting, waiting for the next one to try to break free.

You seem to be getting confused in your old age Rage.  Let me clear something up just in case you're a little bemused, I'm not Wolf.  Do you remember calling me Wolf?  Oh well, it doesn't really matter anyway, it makes no difference in the long run.  Wolf beat you time and time again, just like I will.  While I'm clearing things up for you Rage, let me clarify something else.  There is no way in hell that you can be the Franchise while I'm around.  I'm the benchmark around here, I'm what people live up to.  If you can't deal with that, then maybe I'll have to make you.  You think my threats are idle?  Ask around, they're far from it.  How many people are there in SCCW who thought my threats were idle?  Not many.  You know why?  Because my "idle" threats drove them out of this company.  It's not all about threats Rage, it's about being able to back them up, and you know the title belt I carry around with me, that's my proof that I can back them up.

Rage, I don't think you understand about our match this week.  If you win, that's it, no re-match.  You won two number one contenders matches, that's why there would be two matches.  So when you decided to answer my challenge and name a stipulation for the second match, you basically agreed that you were going to lose this week.  Now though, I can't wait 'till Nowhere to Run.  This week, I'm going to start the job of ending you, and at Nowhere to Run, if the powers that be sanction it, I'll finish it in a barbed wire match.  Contrary to what you think Rage, I'm more than ready to compete in any type of match.  And when you are lying there at the end of Nowhere to Run, with barbed wire hanging from your face, you'll know it too.

Before we can get there though, let me start the ball rolling by handing you your ass this week.  Get ready Rage, it'll be a match you'll want to forget, but somehow you just won't be able to...

Spike trails off as the scene slowly fades to black.
