Angelo Rivera, Rage, Wolf |
"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." one-on-one...at last The scene opens to Spike sitting in an empty Barrie Arena, looking on at the desolate ring and the baron seats that fill the stands. Spike is sitting in one of the first few rows of the empty seats, resting his feet on the seats in front of him and stretching out his left arm to the one at the side. He is wearing black denim jeans and a black t-shirt. He hears a ringing noise and suddenly looks down at the seat next to him. He picks up his cell phone and looks at the name on the screen. It's Jane. He answers the phone, eager to talk to her, but wary of what she might have to say. Spike: Hello. Jane: Hi Sean. It's me. Listen, I haven't got long to talk, I'm on a break at work, but I needed to tell you this. Spike: Okay, go ahead. Her tone of voice is giving nothing away as Spike waits to her what she has to say. Jane: Well, since you left last Thursday, all I've done is think about us. I've been going over and over the reasons why I shouldn't come to Ontario with you, and I eventually decided. Spike: What did you decide? Jane: Well, most of the reasons I had were the same as before. Family, friends, my job. And I decided, that none of them were as important as you. I want to come up there and be with you. I can get a new job, I'll make new friends, as long as we're together then we'll be fine. Spike: I'm so glad to hear you say that. Not that I'm tempting fate, but what made you decide that you didn't mind me getting in the ring anymore? Jane: Well, look how long you've been up there. You've never been seriously injured. Also, I think I might have been using that reason to justify me not moving with you. Spike: So, you're definitely coming then? Jane: Yes I am. Spike: When do you want me to come get you? Tomorrow? Spike pauses as he waits for an answer from here. Jane: No, I mean I would, but there's some thing's I've got to take care of first. Spike: Like what? Jane: I want to work out my notice first so I don't leave this place without anyone to cover me, and I still have a week left on my rent, so I'll stay till that runs out. But this tie next week, I'll be all packed and ready to go. Spike: Okay then. Call me again when you've finalized everything. I'll be able to come down anytime next week, just give me enough notice so I can get a bigger car to get all your stuff in. Okay? Jane: Yeah, that's fine. I can't wait now. I've missed you so much the last nine months. Spike: I know what you mean. Jane: Anyway, I've got to go, but I'll call you back later and we can talk some more. Bye Spike: Okay. Bye Spike hangs up the phone and places it back down on the seat next to him, a smile spreading across his face. After a few moments of silence, Spike turns his attention to the camera. Spike: Now that my personal life is out of the way foe a while, I guess I can get back to business. Last week marked the return of one of the single greatest tag teams in wrestling history. For the first time in months, High Impact tagged together and we won. We beat Angelo Rivera and we beat Rage. Rage, if I were you, I'd just give up. Two weeks ago, you ran you're mouth and you lost, last week, you did the same and what happened? You lost. This week will be a major case of deja vu for you Rage. This week you will get your mouth shut one more time by Wolf. And while Wolf is doing that, I'll be bringing another title to High Impact, the Simcoe County Heavyweight title. But to do that, I have to do what no-one else has done in SCCW, I have to either pin Angelo Rivera's shoulders to the mat or make him tap out. Angelo, last week, you got your first loss, but you didn't lose, Rage did. Still neither of us have bragging rights. I am still yet to beat you and you are still yet to beat me. But that'll all change this week. In fact, I might beat you more than once. This week, we are going to do what no others have done in SCCW history, we are going to fight in a sixty minute iron man match. Sixty minutes Angelo. It'll be you and me one-on-one for sixty minutes. This will be possibly my greatest challenge to date and to be honest, I think it'll be yours as well. I respect you as a wrestler, but when you sneak attacked Wolf to get to me, I lost all respect for you as a person. Now I know what you're going to say, you're going to say that I'm no better than you for attacking you last week on Slam. Well, you'd be right, more or less. You see, my attack was out of vengeance. I was just evening the score, but seeing you rolling around on the floor holding your head was just an added bonus. I'm not really a violent person, but you're pushing me to violence. Go ahead, say what countless others have said, say that you want to get me pissed off to throw me off my game, I'm used to hearing that. And the people that say it are used to eating their words when they are lying flat on their backs looking up at the lights. I can see it now Angelo, up in lights outside the Barrie Arena, Spike "The True Franchise" Vs Angelo "Ragin'" Rivera. It's going to be a success Angelo, in fact, I think I can quite safely say, it'll be a sell-out. A jam-packed arena all cheering and ready to watch us tear each other apart. Most people would walk into a match like this and to be quite honest, they'd probably be shitting bricks, if you'll excuse the phrase, but not me. This will be one of the longest matches in my career, but I don't mind. You see, I'm I firm believer in the phrase, 'the end justifies the means'. So in others words, if wrestling you for sixty minutes is what I've got to do to get the title back around my waist, then that's what I will do. Spike motions towards the empty ring and the camera focuses down on it. Spike: Last week marked an important date for me. It was nine months last week since I first set foot in an SCCW ring. Look what's happened in those nine months. I went from being a nobody, someone who you wouldn't give the time of day to, and I became someone, I became the Franchise of SCCW. This week, I'm going to top off my already illustrious career by becoming the first man to hold the Simcoe County Heavyweight title twice. I don't care what the critics think, they've never been behind me, and I've never stopped proving them wrong. Angelo, you might doubt me when I say what I am going to do and what I am capable of, but look at my track record, and then see if you still doubt me. Face it Angelo, I have a tendency to win the 'big one', and this week is the biggest, so I'll be going all out, can you say the same? When all is said and done, when all the talk is over, will you be able to call yourself the best, or will I? I guess that's what our altercations are all about aren't they? Who's better, who's the one who is that bit better than the other? Well, we'll find out, and we'll find out soon. The camera stays focused on the ring, but you can here Spike standing and walking away as the scene fades slowly to black. |
