"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." the start of something new... The scene opens up to a shot of a scrap book with old cut outs of newspaper articles and photos from magazines. Every clipping has one thing in common, Spike. Individually, they all show moments in his career and events that had happened to get him to where he is today, but together, they told a story. From the very early pictures of him, when he was still a teenager, up to the latest, from just a few weeks back. The camera doesn't show Spikes face, but you can tell that he is the one holding the book. The room around him is fairly dark with just a single light in the corner of the room casting shadows around the walls and ceiling. Spike begins to talk in a calm and normal tone. Spike: I caught what Ms. Red had to say about me and I have to say that I am surprised. I didn't expect her to be an admirer of my career. I an glad however that she recognised what I have done around SCCW and what I have achieved. It's about time some of these new guys found out about the origins of SCCW before they just start running their mouths. I am surprised Draven Dark hasn't made an appearance yet, but then again, what can you really expect from a guy as unpredictable as he is. Regardless of his participation in this match, mine will not falter. He may be willing to accept a loss, but I'm not and I'm sure that Kelly Red wouldn't either. All I ask of them is to show up and do their part, I can handle the rest. That's not me being cocky or having a big ego, it's just a proven fact. Did you hear that Angelo? It's a proven fact that when I set my mind on something, I achieve it. I saw what you had to say earlier this week and guess what, you're wrong. You think you're the first one to see me get angry and say that that is what you wanted to happen, well you're not. In fact, I seem to remember someone saying that to me last week. Oh yeah, BBK said it, and oh yeah, I beat him. You see, anger is not a hindrance, it is an ally. Emotions are what keeps people going, to hide them would make us ordinary, plain, boring. If everyone in the history of wrestling that ever did a promotional video hid their emotions, it'd be more boring thing since you're Friday Night Firefight career. Spike places the scrap book down on the leather settee next to him. He reaches for a remote control and points it at the TV in the corner of the room, pressing buttons. The TV shows a sign of life as the screen slowly comes on, engulfed with a static buzz. Spike presses another button and a picture flashes on to the screen. He flicks through a few different stations before deciding there is nothing on and settling on the music channel known as Kerrang!. The current video playing is Enter Sandman by Mettalica, part of the Rock Legends week on the channel. Spike rests the remote on his leg and starts to talk again, still his face not being shown by the camera. Spike: Speaking of Friday Night Firefight, I see you were quick to pick up on my loss to Bill Banky. Yes I did lose, but I have to say, I think it's what most people would refer to as 'An Act Of God'. It was a one-off, a fluke, Banky would never get one over on me again, and you know it Rivera. You also seem to think that the nineteen wins that I've racked up here have come from beating a bunch of nobodies. Am I right? Did I hear you say that? I thought so. Let me clear that up for, would you class Sloppy Joe, BBK, Midnight Felon, Yaron Mor, Extreme Warrior and others just like them as nobodies? No you wouldn't, you put them in the list of the elite. The list of people who have made a mark on wrestling and guess what, I've beat them all. You're always quick to list the people that have beaten me and the titles that I've lost, but don't forget about the titles I've won and the people I beat to get them. So before you go and get all high and mighty, look at the facts you condescending son of a bitch. So the spotlight that you're looking to get is right on me at the moment Angelo. You want to take it, come and try. You think that by attacking Wolf, you pissed me off. Well you're right, but as I've already said, that's only fuelling my emotions and emotions are an ally in the ring. You also said that the reason that Wolf and I lost the tag belts was because we weren't a good team. Well, let me tell you something Angelo, you'll find out just how good a team High Impact really make sooner than you'd think. Sunday Night, my first go at Angelo Rivera, it'll be a classic encounter but we both know it won't end there. It's just a warm up, a preparation match before the big one. The one for the Provincial Heavyweight title. We're on a collision course Angelo, and I can't wait for the final encounter. The lyrics of the song sound louder as Spike trails off momentarily. dreams
of war, dreams of liars He smirks to himself at the lyric and then begins to talk again. Spike: That's fitting isn't it Angelo. 'Off to Never Never land'. Maybe you should try to go there as well. That's the only place where you beating me could become a reality, a place where nothing is real. The song finishes and Outside by Staind comes on the screen. Spike: Then of course there is Derek Draven. I find it quite amusing that one of his best retorts was that he was and I quote, 'briefly an SCCW Tag Team champion'. As you said, that was only until that Jay Jersey attacked you from behind. Bearing in mind that the title was given to you when Jay left, I think he had all the rights in the world to attack you. But what have you done about it? Have you been a man and done what a true champion would do? Have you stood up to him and fought back? No you haven't. You've done what a little child would do, you've just let him get away with it. You've done nothing Derek, you've sat idly by and watched him take what was yours. After knowing that, how can you talk down to me and say that you shouldn't be standing in the corner while the grown-ups wrestle? I've got no time for spineless people like you Derek, so do me a favour and just stay out of my way this week. And finally, the third man on the team, Sean Johnson. Also known as 'The Griffin'. A mythical beast if I'm not mistaken. The head of an eagle and the body of a lion. So does that mean that you're supposed to have the heart of a lion? But what good is that when you have the brain of a bird? Wouldn't that just make you a glorified, big bird? Am I right, are you Big Bird? You're going to need more than the heart of a lion this week Sean, you're going to need an entire pack to stop me. So if you know anyone that's free that can come and help you out, you'd better give them a call. Maybe the Cyclops is free, or the Minator or any other fictional creature. When it comes down to it Sean, you are more like the Griffin than you'd think. Impressive on paper, but a joke in person. Sean, if I were you, I'd go stand in the corner with Derek and watch the big boys wrestle it out. One last thing, mostly in response to you Angelo. You said that I was outdated, that my time had passed. You couldn't be more wrong. My time is still to come, I am far from finished in the SCCW and I'll prove that to every one soon enough when I regain the Provincial Heavyweight title. As for me being outdated, maybe you were right. Looking back on these pictures and seeing how I've gone through different companies, all with the same look, maybe you are right. Maybe it is time for a change. Well starting this week, everyone will see a change in me. SCCW is moving on, going from strength to strength and so am I. Spike stands up and walks over to the fireplace. He looks in the mirror above the hearth and runs a hand over his head, admiring his new image. Spike: Whether Kelly Red and Draven Dark are there or not, I will NOT lose this week and I will prove once again why I am 'The True Franchise'. The camera stays focused on the mirror, but Spike walks away from it. The scene slowly fades to black. |
