Vs Extreme Warrior

Extreme Warrior

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

the opportunity of a lifetime

The scene opens up to a shot of a fairly large parking lot.  A black Ford Mustang pulls into the entrance, a Metallica CD blasting, and stops in a space.  The engine cuts off and the music dies down.  The drivers door opens and Spike gets out of the car, wearing black denim jeans and a white t-shirt.  His hair is down and blowing in the gentle summer breeze and he has sunglasses on.  He locks the car door and walks around to the front of the establishment that owns the car park.  He walks in through the front door noticing a large menu on the wall sporting a 'BBQ Pit' logo.  He walks further inside and takes a quick look around before walking over to a large round table in the middle of the floor.  As he approaches, SCCW interviewer, Craig James stands to welcome him.

Craig James: Hello Spike.  I thought you'd forgotten about this.

Spike: A meeting with wrestling's greatest interviewer, how could I forget?

Craig James: That's very kind of you to say.  I know what you're thinking, it seems like us SCCW staff and roster live here, but at these prices, how could we not keep meeting here?

The two men share a laugh and a smile as Spike sits down and picks up a menu.  He looks around the room and starts to speak.

Spike: Aren't Sloppy and Zelda about today?

Craig James: No, Sloppy's training for his match this week and Zelda's out on her lunch break.

A waitress approaches them and asks to take their order.  They both give their food and drink orders and the waitress goes back over to the bar to log the orders.

Craig James: So, we may as well get straight to the point hadn't we Spike.  This week is a big one for you.  If you win you get a shot at the Provincial Heavyweight title.  And then if you win that, you'll have made history, AGAIN.  You'll be the first two time champ.  How would that feel?

Spike: It'd be unbelievable.  Everyone knows that when I had the belt last time, I lost it, shall we say, prematurely.  I was still coming to grips with finally winning the belt that by the time I'd come back down to earth, it'd all been taken away from me.  If I am privileged enough to win it again then I won't let it slip away as easily.  That belt means everything to an SCCW superstar.  Ask the former holders, see what they'd give to get it back.  Ask Matt Wild, Devin Hawk, Felon, Sloppy Joe, even Mike Austin, they'd give everything to still have it and I'm no different.

The waitress returns with a small tray balancing on her arm.  Spike and Craig both sit back to give her room as she places the drinks down on the table.  She also places a small bowl of corn chips for them until their main meals arrive.  They both thank her politely and Spike leans forward again to take a drink from his glass.  The cool liquid is refreshing, just what they both need when the day is as hot and muggy as it is.  Spike leans back again and waits for Craig to ask another question.

Craig James: Extreme Warrior has never held the Provincial belt before, so he's got to be hungry for it as well.

Spike: You see, I don't know what's worse, having it and losing it or never having it at all.  I guess it's a reflection on the old saying 'It's better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all'.  Warrior has done what I did, worked his way to it.  First with a tag title and then using that to get to the Simcoe County title and now this.  A chance to fight for the big one.  He's going to be coming at me with everything he's got, and you know something Craig, I want him to.  I want him to try his very hardest, give me his very best, so that when he fails to beat me, he'll have no excuses.  Extreme Warrior and Team NWA will know that SCCW is not here for them to run roughshod over.

Craig James: Speaking of Team NWA, aren't you a little concerned about them in this match.  As you've said, they'll want the title to belong to them, so they'll be out for your blood in this one.

Spike: Well you know, there was a time about a month back when there was a man who would've been there to watch my back, unfortunately, he's locked behind bars for a while.  There is another man 'backstage' who would help me if I asked him to, and that's Sloppy Joe.  But I made my way to the top on my own and I want to win this one, on my own.  Sure if the match ends and I'm being subjected to a Team NWA gang attack then I'd appreciate the help, but as far as the match goes, I'm going to win it off my own back.  Team NWA can get involved if they want to, but I want them to know that even if they do, they won't stop me from winning and they won't stop me from doing one thing that has eluded me on every other occasion, pinning Extreme Warriors shoulders to the mat for the 1...2...3.

Craig James: You mentioned, 'other occasions', don't you think that Extreme Warrior will have a psychological advantage over you now that he's beaten you a couple of times?

Spike: Not really. I never let myself get psyched out.  In the past, when we've fought each other before, it's been in tag team matches and fatal four-ways, never one-on-one.  Now I'm not blaming my tag team partner for those losses or the other men in the four-ways, but to my knowledge, he's never pinned my shoulders to the mat and he's never made me tap out.  I know he has a lot of outgoing bravado but he's got to be thinking about this as well.  Okay, I've never been in a match with him where he lost, but he's never actually beaten me in specific.  Maybe now he's thinking that he can't.  Who knows, when you're as manipulative and back-stabbing as he is, who knows what he's thinking.  One things for sure though, he still managed to get in his favourite phrase earlier this week.  Don't pretend like you don't know what it is Craig.  Go on tell me what it is...

Craig smiles and lowers his head as he starts to laugh.

Craig James: Bringing his 'A-game'

Spike: Exactly, whenever I've seen him cut a promo, somehow, he always manages to get that phrase in.  I hope he does bring his A-game though, so I can crush his over-sized ego by ramming his A-game down his throat.  While I'm on the subject of this latest  ramblings, he doubts my abilities constantly and then goes on to say that I shouldn't under-estimate him.  The guy sounds like a hypocrite to me.  He thinks that he is the very best in SCCW, that's why he was asked to join team NWA, but the truth is probably a little more like this.  He's the best one that would sell his soul to them.  They probably looked at our roster and thought, 'Hmmm, Spike, Sloppy Joe, Devin Hawk, no, they've all got too much character and integrity to join us, I suppose we'll just have to settle for Extreme Warrior'.  I am the best that SCCW has to offer and that is exactly why they put me up against him this week.  None of the boys in the back and no-one in management want to see the belt go to someone like that, a two-faced son-of-a-bitch, so they sent me up to knock him down.  I know I've used this analogy before, but it seems to be extremely relevant now don't you think.  Extreme Warrior has let his ego get to him and placed himself on a pedestal way above the rest of us.  The only problem is that he doesn't belong there, and it's a simple law of physics that proves that things up high that shouldn't be there get pulled back down.  Well, I'm going to teach him this lesson when I pull him back down to earth and give him the reality check that he is in desperate need of.

The waitress returns, once again with a tray on her arm.  She takes one of the plates off the tray and places it down on the table.

Spike: I've had enough of talking about that jackass now, I'll prove once and for all this week that while he may be good, he can't live up to his own hype.

Craig James: Agreed.  On the talking part anyway, you know I have to stay impartial in these things.

Spike smiles and thanks the waitress as she puts the last plate down and leaves.  The two men start to eat their food as the scene fades slowly to black.
