Sloppy Joe, Mr. E Mike Austin, Extreme Warrior |
"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled. They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake. These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one." the opportunity of a lifetime The scene opens up to a shot of Spike reading through the local Barrie newspaper. He is sitting on a large black leather settee and is wearing his usual denim jeans and a black t-shirt. There is a small noise in the background coming from the radio in the corner of the room. He flicks through most of the pages but slows down as one of the articles in particular catch his attention. He reads the headline out loud. Spike: "Wrestling superstar critically injured after hit and run". It seems strange when I stop to think about it. Mike wasn't just some guy that I read about in the paper, I was fighting the guy hours before that happened. Mike is one hell of a wrestler and on that night, me and Sloppy did what few people have done. We got the win over his team. That meant that I was going to receive what I wanted. A one-on-one re-match with Mike Austin for the Provincial Heavyweight title. Obviously I'm not going to get that now am I. I wanted to face Mike for the most sought after prize in our company, because he is a man I respect. Our last match was one of epic proportions and the re-match was going to blow that one out of the water. But now, he's lying in a hospital bed and I have to earn a title match by fighting his former ally, Extreme Warrior. What is it with being a Provincial Champion that makes you take either a prolonged trip to the hospital or just leave all together? Anyone would think that the title is cursed. I know Mike would want to be in the match on Sunday, but he can't, so what I will say is this. If I win the match this week and go on to become the first ever two time Provincial Champion, then his re-match is still there. Spike adjusts in his seat and picks up a glass from off the table next to him, the heat of the summer day causing beads of condensation to drip down the edges of the glass. He takes a drink from it and places it back on the table before continuing to talk. Now before I get talking about Extreme Warrior, there are two more people who I wish to mention. The first is you Sloppy Joe. You did exactly what you said you would do last week. You came out to the ring with me and backed me up one hundred percent. For that I thank you. It's not that I was expecting anything less from you though. You're a man of your word and a man of dignity, so I always knew that you would hold up your end. If you ever need anything, then you know where I am. We've had a lot of meetings before, so I don't think much more needs to be said about that, for now anyway. That brings me to you Mr. E. Don't think I'm going to forget about you. I might have got a win in the tag match last week, but this won't end until I beat you in the ring one-on-one. I still have my suspicions as to who you are and last weeks match only cemented my thoughts. All I'll say about that for now is that the way you wrestle reminds me of another punk ass bitch that used to around here, either that or your mimicking him and reflecting his style very well. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it was nearly a 'Reflection of Perfection'. I have other business to attend to first that takes priority over you now, but when I do catch up to you again, there will be hell to pay. But then again, you already know the 'Truth Hurts', don't you. Spike is interrupted by the phone ringing. He reaches over to the table where the phone is and picks it up, answering it. Spike: Hello? .... Oh, hi Craig. How are you? .... I'm good, thanks for asking. .... This week? What day? .... I suppose you'll be interviewing us both this week, what with it being a big match and all .... That's fine. Thursday it is then. Any news on Mike? How's Nicole coping? .... Ok, I'll see you Thursday then. Bye Spike hangs up the phone and leans forward to put it back on the table. He sits back and folds the paper back together and places it on the settee next to him. He picks up a remote control and points it at the radio, pressing a button on there and switching it off. He sits back in his seat and rests one arm across the top of the settee and the other across the arm of it. He looks straight into the camera and begins to talk. Spike: I feel that you deserve my undivided attention Extreme Warrior. In fact, I know you do, we've met a few times, remember. But that was back when you had Mike Austin in your corner. Do you remember Mike Austin? The man who was a close friend of yours. The man who you turned your back on and violently attacked a few weeks ago. It seems coincidental that you and your NWA buddies put out a cross-hairs on Mike Austin and now he's been involved in a hit and run accident. But that just could be a coincidence, until everyone realises who is really befitting from Mikes injury. What were you doing before this match Warrior? Nothing really, not really in any title pictures were you. And now, out of nowhere, you just happen to get the opportunity to wrestle for the Provincial Heavyweight title. Well, I'm here to tell you that that opportunity won't be about for long. I'm going to crush your aspirations quicker than you turned your back on SCCW. You see, if you weren't aligned with team NWA, then I don't think anyone would object to you holding the title, but now, no-one wants to see it. No-one wants team NWA to think that they can rule the SCCW, and I'm going to be the one the show them that, by kicking your ass. Spike stands up and walks over to the bay window. He looks out at the glorious summers day and reaches up to open one of the windows to let some fresh air into the already stuffy room. The bay underneath the window has got a small seat constructed inside it. Spike sits down on it and puts one foot on the seat next to him, the other still resting on the floor. He leans on his knee as his attention shifts back from the window and towards the camera again. Spike: Warrior, you have got some real delusions of grandeur haven't you. Ever since team NWA came knocking at your door, you;ve been their bitch. Do you think that they would have offered you a place besides them if they didn't think you could take one of thier titles? The Extreme Warrior that I have fought has been one to stop at nothing to win a title, and that was just within the limits of SCCW. You had the chance to go one better and win a bigger title, a title that tours regions, but what did you do, you sold out. You could've won that for SCCW, but you didn't even try. You let yourself think too far ahead. Sure you're part of their team now, but that also means that you can't win one of the titles if they already have it. After your actions last week on Slam, attacking Sloppy Joe and Devin Hawk and even Mike Austin, I can see where this is heading. It's going to escalate, things like this always do. It'll be a clear line team NWA versus SCCW. Let me tell you right now, I will stop at nothing to make sure that it doesn't go that far. A war of that scale would rock SCCW down to it's very foundations so I'll stop it before that can happen. This week, I will show you and team NWA that SCCW is not the place to try to take over. The Provincial Heavyweight title deserves to be around the waist of a true champion, a true franchise, me. I'm not going to let you run rampant around here anymore, even if I have to put my career on the line this Sunday. I'm going to take all the risks, make all the sacrifices, everything, I don't care if I'm physically unfit to compete in the final match, just as long as you don't get the belt. I know what you're going to say this week. You're going to say that you've heard it all from me before, that it didn't make any difference the last time we fought, that you've got my number. Well, last time wasn't as important as this time. This time, everything is on the line. The title, SCCW's reputation, my own personal grudges, and I'm here to tell you that all of those are among the most important things in my life. I've seen SCCW through it's good and bad days, and I'm not going to let some little shit like you ruin it. I think I've made it painfully clear how I feel about this situation and Warrior, it's going to be like hell on earth for you this week, get ready! Spike looks away from the camera and back outside as the scene slowly fades to black. |
