Dumpster match for Lethal Title

NBK, Tigerbeast

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

the chance of A LIFETIME...

The scene opens to a fairly small hotel.  In one of the rooms is Spike, sitting on the bed flicking through the channels on the TV.  He is wearing a plain black t-shirt and blue denim jeans.  The sounds of an emergency vehicle can be heard through the open window in the hotel room.  Spike looks up and out of the window to see if he can see anything but the streets are quite except for a few kids playing football.  Spike looks back into the room and switches the TV off, tossing the remote on the bed next to him.  He looks directly at the camera and begins to speak.

Spike: Tigerbeast, I caught your latest promo and I have to ask, do you ever listen to yourself talk?  You actually said that the only reason that me and Wolf won the tag titles is 'cause you softened up Murderous Intent in your match with them.  Do you realise that your match with them was maybe 2 months before our match with them?  Is that the best excuse you could come up with, it's pitiful really.  Then you even decided to brag about beating Devin Hawk.  One-on-one I could understand the bragging, but it was a handicap match.  You couldn't beat him on your own, you needed Wolf to carry you to the win.  You think the reason that I haven't won the Lethal title yet is because I can't?  Well let me ask you this, when was my last title shot at the belt?  Let me answer that for you, I've never had one.  Until last week, I've never even been given the chance to compete for it.  You know why?  'Cause I was busy doing bigger and better things.  While you were giving it your all winning the X-Title, I was winning the tag titles, and the Simcoe County title and the TV title, so how can you have the audacity to say that I am worthless.  It's people like me who have kept this company together.  People like you come and go, but I'm a mainstay.  Ask around, there aren't many who can say they've been here since day one, but I can.

NBK, I guess that brings me to you.  You like talking about the so called greats of SCCW don't you?  Midnight Felon and BBK were the two you used this time, am I right?  Well if they're the greats, what does that make me?  Let me clarify that a little, I beat both of them.  In fact, I've beat Felon not only in a tag match but one-on-one for the Provincial Heavyweight title.  I noticed that you've been shopping for a few 'toys' for our upcoming match.  I'm glad you did, it saves me the trouble of doing it.  Actually, yours were a little bit tame so I might have to bring a few of  my own with me as well.  All that stuff about crushing my dreams sounds real familiar to me.  Oh yeah, Murderous Intent said it just before High Impact took the tag titles from them.  So when you say it, do you really think I can take it seriously.  I've got no doubt in my mind that you believe you can do it, but it's just too bad that it won't happen.  I know it'll be a hell of a match, everyone knows it, but you can't win.  You might be the defending champion, but that title belt won't be around your waist much longer.  I like the way you think, about living in the past.  No-ones past accomplishments or matches will be of any use in this match.  We all go in the same, three men all vying for one thing, the Lethal Championship.  It's almost poetic isn't it.  It might only be a dumpster match, but I think we all know that the dumpster won't be the only weapon used in this one.  It'll be violent, graphic and not for the feint of heart, I can hardly wait.

Spike looks at his watch and stands up from the bed.

Spike: I'd love to say and chat but I've got a radio interview to get to.  I'll see you boys on Sunday.

Spike picks up his leather jacket from a chair in the corner of the room and shuts the window.  He picks up his room key from off the table and checks for his car keys in his coat pocket.  He leaves the room, locking it behind him and heads down a corridor and down two flights of stairs.  He passes through the lobby of the hotel and out the main doors.  The heat of the day seems even greater now that he has left the air-conditioned lobby.  He walks around to the car park and up to his black Ford Mustang.  He opens the door and tosses his coat onto the passenger seat.  He turns his keys in the ignition and the engine roars to life.  He winds down the window just as the radio starts to blast out 12 Stones.  He reverses out of the car park and onto the main road as the scene fades to black.

The scene re-opens with Spike pulling into the car park of the local radio station.  He turns off the engine and gets out of the car, locking it behind him.  He starts across the car park towards the main entrance and enters the building through a large glass double door.  As he walks inside he looks up at a large board with all the locations of the different studios and offices.  He walks over to a receptionist and she points him in the right direction.  He gets into an elevator and goes as far as the third floor.  When the elevator doors open he gets out and looks around.  A fairly small women with large glasses and a clipboard walks up to him and talks quickly.

Assistant: I'm assuming you must be Spike.  Of course you are.  Right this way, they're waiting for you now.

Before Spike can even respond she grabs his arm and ushers him through another set of double doors and into a recording studio.  He walks in and a short, stubby man stands up from the main table and extends his hand to Spike.  Spike smirks to himself as he thinks of an old joke about radio presenters.  The one about being on radio because their too ugly for TV, well this guy must've been the source of these jokes.

Radio DJ: Hi, I'm Mark.  I'll be asking you the questions this afternoon, nothing too difficult just basically promoting the event, any questions?  Can we get you a drink or anything?

Spike: No, I'm okay thanks.  I've done radio interviews before so I should be fine.

Radio DJ: Good, when this song finishes, I'll do a quick intro then we'll get straight on with it.

Spike and Mark both sit down at the large table with all the radio equipment on and Mark puts on a set of headphones, motioning to Spike to do the same.  Mark leans forward and flicks a switch on one of the control panels and starts to speak in a fake voice.

Radio DJ: Hi, and welcome back to 104.6 KGFM.  I'm here 'till 6 tonight before Vanessa comes back to start off the night with nothing but number ones.  I've got a guest in the studio this afternoon, his name is Spike and he is here to promote Simcoe County Championship Wrestling, or SCCW.  Welcome Spike.  You've got a big event coming up soon, am I right?

Spike: Yes you are.  June 27th, it's called Revolutions.  It's shaping up to be a great line-up and it should be a memorable night.

Radio DJ: I for one will be trying my best to make it and I urge any wrestling fans out there, and I know there's a lot of you, to go as well.  These guys put on a great show and I'm sure this one will be no exception.  I have to ask, 'cause I know it's what everyone wants to know, what's the main event going to be?

Spike: Well, it won't be a pretty one. It's a grudge match really.  It'll be Wolf versus Mike Austin in a barbed wire match for the Provincial Heavyweight title.

Radio DJ: That'll be a violent one, so parents, you might want to think long and hard letting the kids watch this one.  Wolf, isn't he you tag team partner.

Spike: Yes he is, and I know he has what it takes to get the job done this week.

Radio DJ: Do you feel any resentment towards him over this?  Let me just clear this up for our listeners, if Wolf wins this week, then he and Spike cannot try to win the tag team gold.  Is this the beginning of the end of your team?

Spike: No, it definitely isn't.  Our team, High Impact, is still going strong and has only been put on hold for a short time.  We both have things we want to do alone and when we are done with that we will be the champions again.

Radio DJ: Solo projects, I can understand that.  What is it that you're aspiring for now then?

Spike: Well, I've got a title shot at Revolutions for the Lethal championship.  So at the moment, that's all that is in my line of vision.

Radio DJ: Sounds serious.  What does winning this title mean to you then?

Spike: Well, if and when I win, I will be the only man to ever hold all the major titles within the company, and seeing as the compnay has been around for less than a year, it'll be a hell of an achievement.  So it means a lot to say the least.

Radio DJ: Who is the man standing in your way of doing this then?

Spike: Actually, there are two of them, a guy called Tigerbeast and the current champion NBK.  It's no ordinary match either, it's a dumpster match.

Radio DJ: A dumpster match?  Who thinks these things up?  How in the hell do you win one of those?

Spike: I don't know who makes them up, the bookers have got creative minds.  Wining it sounds easier that it will be.  You have to lock both of your opponents inside the dumpster.  As a result, the match itself is no disqualification, so this is going to be another one where parental supervision is advised.

Radio DJ: Would you like to say a few words about your opponents for this week?

Spike: NBK, he's a guy to not take lightly.  He's the type to give it his all and usually, it's good enough to take the win.  But he's only been about for a few matches, and his opponents to date haven't exactly been hall of fame bound if you know what I mean.  It's going to be a fight to the very end.  He won't give up and I don't think he's the kind of guy to take a beating and not try to dish out his own.  I'm looking forward to fighting him, it'll be a close one.  The there is Tigerbeast.  To me, he seems to be a lot of talk and I'm not sure if he can back up his big words.  I've never faced him before but I know what to expect from him.  He'll give it his all as well, but I don't think it'll be enough to get a win over either me or NBK.  I'm not saying he is useless, I'm just saying that he is still very young and he has his best days still to come.  This week won't be his night, but he'll have many to come in the future.  NBK is the one who has a good chance of walking out with the title, but so do I.  NBK seems to have been around a bit before coming to SCCW, he might seem like a young punk kid, but I think he has the experience to know what he is doing.

Radio DJ: Sounds like it could be a show stealer then, well until the main event anyway.  I'm sorry to cut this short Spike, but that's all we've got time for.  Best of luck this week to you and everyone else involved in the event.  Thanks for coming down here and I hope to see you again sometime.

Spike: It's been a pleasure.  Thanks for having me.

Radio DJ: And now, something I know a lot of you have been waiting for, the new song by Evanescence, Everybody's Fool.

The DJ flips another switch and the song starts to play.  Spike and the DJ both take off their headphones and stand up.  They shake hands and the DJ starts to talk.

Radio DJ: Thanks again, some of the wrestlers from other companies that we've interviewed before have been a real problem.  They start talking about their match and then they go into gory detail about how they're going to 'kill them' and 'beat them into a bloody pulp' and it's not good for publicity.

Spike: Well, I could've been like that, easily, but I kept it tame, this is a family show after all.  I'll save all the hostility and violence for Sunday.  Talking about it proves nothing, its when I show them what I'll do when I prove it.

Spike finishes with the formalities and leaves the studio.  He exits the building and heads back for the car park as the scene fades to black.
