Winner gets a Lethal title shot at Revolutions

first step in a lethal direction...

The scene opens with a shot of Spike walking back through the curtain separating the backstage area from the ring, his entrance music still blasting out over the PA system.  He starts to take off the tape from around his wrist and he looks up as someone calls his name.  

Backstage staff: Spike!  I have something for you.

Spike looks down at tthe mans hand to see him holding out a small piece of paper.  Spike looks back at the man and starts to speak.

Spike: What is it?

Backstage staff: It's the matches for next weeks Slam.

Spike: Already, that's quick.

Backstage staff: Actually, it's only your match, but I thought you'd want to see it as soon as possible.

Spike takes the paper from him and opens it up, reading the words printed inside it.  Spike smiles to himself and looks back at the man.

Spike: Thank you, this is definitely going to be interesting.  

The man walks away and Spike continues round to his locker room.  He walks in through the door and throws the ball of wrist tape onto the floor.  He takes off his elbow pads and t-shirt and throws them into his locker before taking a seat on a steel folding chair.  He looks directly at the camera and begins to speak again.

Spike: I did try to warn you Ric, you shouldn't have gone to that ring tonight.  What was it, about two minutes?  You're a joke, in fact, you're so far beyond a joke that you don't even deserve to be in the SCCW.  If I were you, I'd never show your face around here again.  That brings me to someone else who has left SCCW, only this time I didn't get to give him the send off he deserved.  Chris Bond, I was looking forward to our Ontario Death Match, but as it happens, you leaving has benefited me greatly.  It has given me the opportunity to do what no-one else has ever done in SCCW history.  You see, my match next week gives me the chance of going on to Revolutions to compete for the Lethal Championship.  If and when I do win that belt, I will be the first man to hold all major titles.  Not even the great Devin Hawk has done that has he.  When I say that I am the True Franchise of SCCW, people really should believe me.  I'm going to teach that to two people this week, Tom Taylor and Ju Chan.

Ju Chan, you had a great showing last week, you nearly won yourself a tag team title belt.  But nearly isn't quite good enough is it.  That's always been the same with you hasn't it Chan.  Nearly winning the big one.  This week will be no exception.  When it comes to it, you know that you won't be able to beat me.  Come to think of it, haven't we fought before?  I seem to remember that we have, and if I remember right, you didn't win that one did you.  It's just another example of how you drop the ball when it comes to winning titles.  Everyone seems to like making fun of you Ju, I don't know why, it's probably the name, but it could just be because you're a walking punch-line.  Actually, didn't you change your name, it's Dragon now isn't it.  The mythical beast that was damn near unstoppable.  It's a shame that this isn't a story made up for fairytales, 'cause that's the only way that you'd seem to be a threat.  I'm not scared of you Ju, I never will be.  You can bring all your martial arts skills and your submission wrestling, hell bring Inferno if you think it'll help you, at least he knows how to win a title.  This week Ju, you're just an obstacle in my way, preventing me from going to Revolutions to get a shot at the Lethal title, so I'll tell you what.  If you don't piss me off too much, I won't humiliate you too much.  Either way, this week I'm about to slay the Dragon.

Spike stands up and walks over to a wooden table.  He picks up a bottle of water from off the table and un-screws the lid of it.  He takes a drink from the bottle and then begins to speak again.  

Spike: You know, I nearly forgot that this was a triple threat match.  But then again, If your other opponent is Tom Taylor then I suppose you'd want to forget about it.  What has this guy done to deserve getting in the ring with me, let alone getting a chance at a title shot.  Is it his impressive record?  Hmm, 0 for 2 isn't that impressive so it can't be that.  I don't know what it is, but he must have fallen out of the good books of the bookers.  This guy is not going to stand a chance in that ring this week.  Ju Chan will tear the guy apart so just imagine what I will do to him.  In fact, I can see another re-run of this week.  Picture this now, after just two minutes, Tom Taylor is taken out of the match and then it's left to the real wrestlers to decide on a winner.  Tom Taylor is another one of these guys who tries to be a wrestler.  He wants the glory, he wants the fame, but he just can't quite get to grips with earning it.  I earned my glory and I earned my fame, every step of the way and now, I'm going to prove one more time why I am the True Franchise.  I will win this match, and I will go on to Revolutions to face the Lethal Champion and the other contenders.  In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing what type of match and stipulations they have in store for us.  The Lethal title might not be the most prestigious belt around here, but it'll do until I get the re-match that I deserve and I win back the Provincial Heavyweight title.  

Get ready this week Ju, and you too Tom, 'cause I'll be going all out, so it'll take everything you've got to try to stop me.  I'm ready to go Lethal, are you?  I'm looking forward to this.

Spike has an evil grin on his face as the camera slowly fades to black.
