Win/Loss/Draw: Next Match: People Mentioned:
12/8/2 Vs. Mike Austin

Provincial Heavyweight Championship

Wolf, Mike Austin

"In every competition since the dawning of time, some have always excelled.  They exceed expectations and bypass the competition, leaving the weak in their wake.  These men take what they want, when they want to and back down from no-one."

the first defense...

The scene opens up with a shot of Spike sitting in a black leather reclining chair.  He is wearing his usual blue denim jeans and a black t-shirt with a Nirvana print on it.  The room is fairly well lit with beams of sunshine shining through the window panes.  The camera zooms in on Spike and he is reading the sports pages of a local newspaper.  The camera pans around behind him and starts to focus on what he is reading.  It is a small article on SCCW, reviewing the upcoming matches on Slam.  Spike skips over most of them, pausing to read a select few.  The first being that of his partner Wolf and his TV title defense.  The next being the Simcoe County title match between Extreme Warrior and Chris Bond, but who could blame him, a match like this would capture anyones attention.  Spike also reads a smaller headline under another match that refers to the return of Devin Hawk.  He reads this but pays little attention to it, for now.  Finally, he gets to the main event of Sunday Night Slam, the Provincial Heavyweight Title match between himself and Mike Austin.  Spike starts to read the smaller headline out loud.

Spike: "Another chapter in the story of High Impact and Attitude Adjustment".  That's exactly what this is, another chapter.  It's starting to grow tiresome isn't it Mike.  I know that when I finish with you this week Mike, I'll have had enough of you and your partner to last a lifetime, but something tells me that Wolf isn't through with you yet, so I guess neither am I.  I'm going to do Wolf a favour though.  You see, I know that he wants you in the ring again Mike and I know that he want you one-on-one, so I'm going to do him a favour and soften you up for him.  I'm going to leave just enough of you this week for him to finish the job on you.

Spike continues to read the article.

Spike: "In what will most likely prove to be a show stealing encounter the Provincial champion Spike will be defending his title against his current adversary Mike Austin.  Austin earned the shot by beating the champion in a tag team match last week."  That sums this up perfectly Mike.  It was a victory in a tag team match.  You have never beaten me when it's been just you and me and that is the way it is going to stay.  You don't think that I'm right when I say that I'm better than you do you Mike?  Well I'm going to prove to you this week that I am.  Admittedly it appears that Attitude Adjustment seem to be the proverbial 'Achilles Heel' of High Impact but it's going to be different this time.  It's not Attitude Adjustment versus High Impact it's you versus me.  No-one has ever seen this before and we both know that it's going to be a memorable encounter.  Everyone is anticipating this and we won't disappoint.  Everyone wants to see a brutal match that will undoubtedly end in bloodshed, and I know that I'm planning on delivering on that.

"The two men finally meet one-on-one, but will there respective partners prove to be factors in the match?  Only time will tell."  It's blatantly obvious to me Mike that with all the talking that goes on around here, whoever wins on Sunday will have no second thoughts about throwing it in the others face any chance they get.  So I have a proposition for you Mike.  What do you say that we ban all High Impact and Attitude Adjustment members from ringside?  When I beat you, I want you to have no excuses, I don't want you to be able to fall back on the interference card that you play so often and I don't want you to be able to blame you loss on anyone but yourself.  So what do you say Mike, do we have a deal?  I know that Wolf is temperamental and that he wants to tear you apart so as soon as the bell rings at the end of the match, it's open season again.

Spike looks back down at the paper and finsihes reading the small print about the event.  After a few moments he closes the paper and folds it in half, leaning forward in his chair a little.  He puts the paper down on the floor by the side of his chair and stands up.  He walks over to a small corner table and picks up a glass of ice cold water of it.  The heat is causing the condensation to start dripping down the side of the glass and form a small ring on the table.  Spike takes a drink from the glass and places it back down on the table.  He turns back around to face the camera and leans against the edge of the table.  He brushes his hair from his face and crosses his arms over his chest.  After a few moments silence he looks directly at the camera and begins to speak.

Spike: It's no secret that I really don't like you Mike, and I don't expect you to like me much either, but there is one thing that I can say about you.  You are slowly earning my respect.  Whether it be through cheating or not, you seem to be getting the job done lately and yeah, you are on a roll, but that all stops this week.  Make the most of any momentum that you have going in to this match, you're going to need it.  I may have underestimated you before and even last week I think I still was, but all that has changed.  You see the tag team titles are important and they are a prestigious title to hold, but they aren't as important and prestigious as the Provincial Heavyweight title.  You now have my undivided attention and that's not what you want Mike.  You don't want me pissed at you, look at what happens when that happens.  Ask Midnight Felon if you don't believe me, I think he's out of the hospital now.  I'm not going to let you of all people be the one to end my run at the top.  I've faced better than you before Mike and I've come out on top and this week will be no different.  You're going to just be another mark in my win column.

I'm going to enjoy this week Mike.  You know why?  'Cause I'll finally be able to do something that no-one here has been able to do yet.  I know what you're thinking, you're expecting me to say 'pin your shoulders to the mat for the one, two, three', aren't you.  But that's not what I was going to say, I was going to say that finally, I'll be able to get you to shut the hell up!  You keep talking about you being better than me, trying to get inside my head and make me have doubts and anxiety over the match, but it won't work.  hen I beat you in the middle of the ring you'll have nothing left to brag about and you'll finally realise that I am just better than you.  If you'll excuse the use of the tired old clichés, once all the dust has settled and all the smoke has cleared, only one man will be holding their arms up in victory, and it won't be you.  You'll be the one left flat on your back gazing at the spotlights.  Don't worry though Mike, you won't be alone, many people have been left like that, in fact you'll be just another victim...

Spike trails off as the scene slowly fades to black.
