The Mana series continues on with
Legend of Mana. Any one who likes any of the other Mana game will love this
game! Even know this game is slightly different to any other Mana games or any
other RPG it’s still a real goodie. The start storyline is very interesting,
during a war the Mana Tree has been burnt down and people have made crystals
and artifacts out of them for there Mana Energy. You
think that sound’s weird then wait
to you hear this, when you collect those artifacts if you put them on your
world map it creates a whole town! Legend of Mana also has several different
storylines that continue in a huge amount of “quick” tasks (sixty-four to be
exact). The thing I don’t get is in most RPG’s the main character (you) is
usually is involved in something from the start but in this game, being the nice
person you are, you just agree to help people with there problems. But don’t
let this discourage you; the storylines can get very interesting.
Probably one of the best features of
Legend of Mana is the battle system. It’s very similar of the “Secret of Mana”
system; the same movement as before the battle started but you pull your weapon
(not like Final Fantasy games where you go into a battle). You have a selection
of physical attacks; you can use ether swift and forceful attacks with your
selected weapon or some of your learnt abilities. You start with basic
abilities like “jump” and “defend” but as you gain experience you gain better
ones. Some best learnt abilities need of
certain combination of basic abilities and experience to be learned, for example
if you equip the “summersault” and the “high jump” abilities and gain
experience you will learn the “moon sault” ability! There are also very cool
Magic attacks and Limit Breaks. You gain Magic attacks by equipping musical
instruments that have the Mana Tree’s, Mana power. The magic attack’s tack time
to charge up and they don’t take any magic points (or MP) like in most Mana
games. Limit Breaks are leant like the abilities. You can use a Limit Break
when you’ve been hit a certain amount of times to do extreme damage.
Another amazing thing about Legend
of Mana is how much you can customize your game to your advantage. There
are a ton of weapons you can use and when you get a blacksmith forge, you can
use items to build new weapons or add to your old ones so the amount of
different weapons you can use in though the roof! It’s also the same with
magical instruments.
There are four interments you can
make, with the right magical Mana coin and
item you will have amazing magic powers! Along with your favorite playable
player who teams up with you after you first meet him or her (that player can
be controlled by player two!) you can take one of the huge variety of pets or a
man made Golem customize to your choice. As you can see, there is a lot to the
game!
The graphics effects are brilliant
and the sound gets me going. Some of the enemies can get easy near the end if
the game but when you finish the game you start the game again and get the
option of making them harder or impossible. The quick adventure can get short
but challenging and there is sixty-four of them so it keeps you busy and it
hardly gets boring!
