Hi! Great page! I saw the play a couple of weeks ago and was just blown away by it. I had to buy the soundtrack. Any chance they will do a new soundtrack with the current cast? I thought everyone in the play was fantastic and was sad when it was over I enjoyed it so much. The cast was great, the backdrops and props just wonderful, it was a definate 2 thumbs up!

I saw Pimpernel back in June, so Christine and Terry were still in it, and Doug is one of the best actors I've seen on Broadway. (Well, top 2. I refuse to pick between him and Terry.) Great singer, good looking (which is not something I say often), and * ILARIOUS* (Who needs to wait for Creation of Man? I'm happy just listening to him massacre the pronounciation of Chauvelin.) Wish I could have seen the show again before the cast change, and trying very hard to dislike Rex Smith. (Did anybody else think it just a trifle amusing that Citizen Chauvelin is being played by an actor whose name is Latin for King? Didn't think so.) I'm rambling now, so in closing, I just want to say that whoever that was who played Percy in the 82 TV movie is very irritating, ot at all funny, and generally makes me wish Chauvelin would win that final swordfight. Can't hold a candle to Doug.

I saw SP last night and was thrilled!! Douglas Sills is brilliant! And afterwards, I was lucky enough to be brought backstage by a friend who plays in the pit to meet Doug at his dressing room. He was so sweet- he came out in the hallway to meet us (weari g a white terry bathrobe and teddy-bear head slippers) and signed everyone's playbill and thanked us all for coming to the show! I told him how much fun I'd had and he said that he was thrilled to hear it and hoped we'd all come back to see it again. He w s so nice- and very modest about himself...and very easy on the eyes as well! I'm hooked!!

Saw the original version 9 times and we loved it. Saw the new version today (10/11) and we adored it! Missed Christine and Terry but Rachel and Rex were excellent, Doug was his usual brilliant self. The plot is clearer, much easier to understand and fo low. The audience got into it from the very beginning and enjoyed it to the end. Rex is really hot with Chauvelin's songs, hitting the final high notes at the end every time, much to the audience's delight. Missed "It's Only Love" but Rachel's "I'll Fo get You" was quite moving. really showcasing her lovely voice. Second act reprises were terrific (we had our doubts) especially "Into the Fire" and "Storybook". Plot changes weren't drastic but gave more depth and meaning to the story and expecially to he characters. Missed the ensembles' singing in "Madame Guillotine" and "The Riddle" (especially Stephanie Bast's glorious last note) but loved Marguerite's and Chauvelin's expanded parts. The new "Ozzie" was sober but quite good, the "Prince" lost his b lly as well as most of his original dialogue, and "Lady Llewellyn" lost all of her racy lines from the original version of "They Seek Him Here, They Seek Him There". But in spite of all these things which we had come to know and love so well, we were bea ing by the time the show ended, not only because we enjoyed the new version so much but because the audience was so animated and upbeat, saying things like "hilarious", "fabulous", "highly entertaining" etc. as they were filing out of the theater. We jus hope the new producers follow through with a media blitz of promotions, and if they do we should be able to enjoy this outstanding musical for many years to come. Kudos to Nan Knighton, et al for the great revisions, but especially to the incredible cas who were able to perform the original version at night while rehearsing the new version during the day, and never missing a beat. And of course a special thanks to Doug Sills for sharing his exceptional talents with us eight times a week. Judging by th wonderful things his family and friends said about him last week when he received the "Shining Star Award" at the Jane Elissa Extravaganza to benefit the Leukemia Society of America, and by his graciousness to all of us lucky enough to have spoken to him at the stage door, no one seems more deserving of success than Doug does.

Well, I will admit that in the begining of my web site days I was consi ering making a page for Mr. Sills myself, but I decided to stick to the show itself. I knew that eventually someone would take up the task! And here you are, doing a beautiful job (far better than I could have hoped to) for a lovely and talented gentleman *ahem* I heard that there was a TV special on the Into the Woods tour (or was it Secret Garden? yes, I think *that's* it!)that Mr. Sills was on. If you can track that down, you might get a few more snappies... (And I'd pay postage for a copy of the tape! !). I am still in shock over the very idea of Chuck and Doug on stage at the same time (ITW!) - *how could I miss that???* Zooks! Now someone has *got* to invent a time machine. Heehee. Anyway, here's five stars (*****) for Douglas for writing back to me. And here a dozen rose (---<<-,-<@) for you, because who else would stand next to an enthusiastic fool how sings along with the cast during the Into the Fire reprise (while in the second row no less :-) and not die of embarassment? You're da top.

Renee! This site is beautiful. Mr. Sills himself could not help but be charmed. In fact, I suggest that you write to him care of the Minskoff and ask him for info and pictures, or at least tell him about your site. It's up to you, of course. I am really i pressed.
