Adapted from the AMSA web site, www.AMSA.org : Saba School of Medicine is a chartered member of the American
Medical Student Association (AMSA), a group representing medical
students' and patients' interests. AMSA is a student-governed,
non-profit
organization committed to improving medical education, residency and
community service throughout the world. Medical students from any country can join. The association has focused its energies on the problems of
the medically underserved, inequities in our health-care system and
related issues in medical education. Since 1968, AMSA has been a fully
independent student organization, with nearly 50,000 members. As the Saba Chapter officers, we certainly hope you choose to join our group to gain from the many benefits membership offers. But involvement in our community service and medical education activities requires no membership--only a willingness to seek out opportunities to help others. As physicians-in-training we have a vast amount of knowledge and responsibility to help others and keep the public healthy and informed. Keep an eye out for updates on our community service projects,
AMSA national meeting and our upcoming projects in medical
and community education. I hope you will join us. Let's get to work! Best,
