Zhyan mightily stretched his body and grinned when the memories from
the previous night came back to his half-awakened mind. It had been so
wonderful, so good and fulfilling. But right now, he sensed there was something
missing.
Turning to a side he moved his arm, sweeping the bed in search of the
reason of his peace. He frowned when his hand found nothing but cold sheets and
he slowly opened his eyes and blinked quickly a couple of times. Propping
himself up on one elbow he looked around but no sound, no scent gave him a clue
of the whereabouts of his wife. Touching her pillow, he felt something crush
beneath his fingers.
Earlier...
Tonati slowly caressed his bangs while she watched him sleep. She loved
to do it. It wasn't a new sight to her but at the same time it was. Now they
were married. She smiled widely, remembering the night he had asked her to be
his spouse. The gleam in his eyes as he cooked for her, the way he had guided
the conversation so he could reach his goal.
"... will you marry me?"
She had gasped and stared at him, unable to believe her ears. Her
beloved was on one knee, in front of her, holding her hands so tenderly. For
seconds that must have felt twice as long to him as it had been for her, she
could not speak. :: I
could barely breath out of joy, my love:: She had been paralysed, trying to
find the proper context for the answer she wanted to give him, but her mouth
was so much slower than her mind and it had been some moments before she could
react.
Tonati blushed in embarrassment as she remembered that predicament. :: I must tell him. Tell him that I did
hesitate because I was not sure how to say YES to him. “How to accept a
marriage proposal” is not a chapter I studied in class!:: She chortled
lightly and returned her attention to him, brushing the fringe away from his
eyes. :: We are married now, my beautiful
prince. It is all that matters::
She grinned at the smile on the archangel's face. He looked so happy...
and exhausted. She leaned and carefully kissed his brow before she left the
bed. There were things she had to do and he looked so serene that she decided
to let him sleep some more; it was after all, very early in the morning.
After a quick shower she got dressed in a grey sport suit and wrote a
note to Zhyan, leaving it where he would find it. Securing her blade to her
forearm, she picked up a small bundle and walked outside. Roaming among the rooms and halls of the
Inn, Tonati smiled back to those who greeted her, most of them also dressed to perform
a sport. She found herself trying to guess what kind of sport they performed by
the attire they wore.
::She is into tennis... he is
going to jog... oops! There goes Jenna! Hehehe! She is on her way to the
electrolysis(2) room, I bet! Nope,
lady, it won’t help! I wonder if her hubby likes all the new facial hair on her::
Tonati snickered when she saw at the other side of a hallway the now pale blue
and lightly furry woman who glowered to everyone.
Chortling softly, Tonati left the building and shuddered in the cold
air. The sun had not risen yet but the artificial illumination allowed her to
see how huge the place was. It had enormous gardens bordering a beautiful and
luring forest at one side and big tennis courts at the other. Some golf players
were scattered over soft hills covered with green grass and flower trails.
Tonati away and came face to face with a smiling young man who was
wearing the sport version of the Spa’s uniform.
“Excuse me, miss.” He said. “My name is Carlius. Is there something you
are looking for? I’ll be pleased to help you.” The smile widened.
“Thank you, yes. I'm looking
for a place where I can be alone for some minutes.” She said. “There is a…”
Tonati paused, searching for the proper words to describe her needs without
saying too much. “A religious service I must perform.”
“Our facilities provide praying rooms. We receive a wide diversity of
spiritual agendas.”
“Well, my agenda requires an open space. Preferably with running water near
by, but it is not indispensable.”
Carlius thought for a moment. “I think there is a place you could use.”
He said wearing a toothy grin. “This way, please. Let me show it to you.”
With a quick look at the horizon, Tonati followed Carlius. She was led
to the extensive gardens and very soon, thick rose bushes about at least seven
feet height welcomed them. Their sweet perfume was easily distinguished from
afar and Tonati noticed doorways and benches interspersed with the trees in a
very elegant design. She took a moment to caress a rose bud, its red colour
promising to be as deep as fresh blood.
“These blossoms will open soon, miss…”
“Mrs.” Tonati corrected him with a smile. “Mrs. Dekodoria.” She flushed
with pride at the title granted by the vows Zhyan and she had exchanged. Her
free hand flew to her neck to caress the obsidian dragon.
Carlius nodded. “Mrs. Dekodoria, the blossoms will open soon. The place
turns into a favourite for our guests, though at this moment our occupancy is
low. I hope you will be here to see it by yourself. The sight is marvelous.”
He smiled and kept walking, making sure she followed him through the
intricate hallways. They reached a clearing where stone benches and tables
surrounded them. A big stone fountain, with a large seashell on top was in the
center of it and around it, smaller rose bushes displayed white flowers.
“Here we are. People come here to have some picnic time, but it is too
early for it yet. Is this what you were looking for? May I inquire if you’d need
our services for your procedure?”
“It is perfect.” Tonati said, “Do not worry. I will need of no
assistance and the area will not be altered in any form. ::wow! The way of talk is contagious around here!:: Thank you so much
for your help.”
“It is our pleasure, Madame.” With a smile and a slight bow of his
head, Carlius left her alone.
Tonati waited some minutes and then prepared herself to announce to her
Gods her new status as a married priestess, thus concluding the rite that had
started with the cleansing and fasting prior her wedding. She now would be
excused of her duties for some time. Her ceremony initiated as the first
sunbeam touched the improvised shrine while she honored her guardian spirits.
ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś
Tonati stared at the stone fountain, again. “I don’t believe it! I was
able to find my way within the sacred caverns of Cancun, since the first time I
set my foot there! And now, I can’t get out of this shrubby maze? Aaaargh!”
Tonati was about to give up. She had been walking in circles; bigger
ones each time and each one took her always to that very same bubbler. She
considered to stay where she was and wait; someone had to find her… eventually.
Tonati looked up to the sun and decided it was still too early in the morning,
probably not even 9 AM. Determined to leave the place, she chose another
pathway and while doing so, failed to notice a figure falling down from the sky
that started to follow her after she had left the maze’s center.
It was going to be late soon, and the rich fragrance of the flowers did
nothing to diminish her increasing anger. She wanted out and she wanted out
NOW.
::Which way?:: She thought. ::The place seems to change, each time I
turn around... ::
Tonati growled as she felt a hand grab her by the waist and pull her
back. Releasing the bundle in her hands she started to reach for her blade when
a voice sweet like honey said. “Mind if I drop by?” And then, powerful muscles
moved; she was airborne. Squeaking, Tonati grabbed the strong arms around her,
eliciting a chuckle behind her. Tonati felt the hold around her grow loose and
instinctively she tightened her grip. She closed her eyes as the arms swayed
and turned her around until she was more secure; she sensed one arm on her back and the other beneath her legs.
"Got you!"
She opened her brown eyes and was rewarded with a lilac stare looking
at her apologetically. She draped her arms around Zhyan's shoulders and sighed
in relief.
“That you do.” She said and grinned, resting her head on his shoulder.
The archangel kissed her brow.
Below them the green forest swiftly replaced the Spa's gardens. Zhyan
let his wings take them to a riverbank far enough from the resort facilities to
guarantee they would be alone. Tonati was able to see treetops, too close from
them she thought, so she looked ahead until they reached their destination.
Once the archangel landed and allowed her to set foot on firm ground,
he pulled her close to him. She leaned against him for few seconds before she
searched a closer contact with a deep kiss.
“I was scared for a second! I don’t like heights too much!” She panted
and smiled at him when they broke apart.
"I’d never let you fall." He told her, cupping her face with
one hand. Her left hand moved instantly to cover his and she pressed her cheek
against his palm.
"I know, I was just surprised, it's all. I'd never let go of you
either." Tonati looked deeply into his lilac eyes. "Never, Zhy. No
matter what happens, I’ll never let go of you." She finished with a faint
blush, moaning when he kissed her again. She smiled content and embraced him.
“I love you so much. I’m so happy.” Her smile widened. “I was so very nervous,
at our wedding.”
“Really? I was terrified.” He chuckled and kissed her again.
“I was thinking about eloping.” She mumbled, kissing him back. “I think
Salix was ready to hold me prisoner when I told her.”
“You would have?” Zhyan hugged her. “Elope with me?”
“Yes. I was very tempted to sneak out to your tent and ask you to. I
was going to angelnap you!” Zhyan beamed and she graciously chortled. “My
brother arrived then, so my chance was stalled.”
Zhyan took her hand and led her in a walk, following the river. The fresh
air of the morning made their hair dance in fluid motions.
"Are you sorry about it now?" He asked after a while.
"About not eloping?" She grinned. "No. We did right
about the party. You met my family and I met your friends. It was great! You
were so handsome. You made my heart stop." She entwined their fingers in a
tight grip.
"And you were breathtaking in that gown." He said. "Much
more than usual; you were practically glowing. It looked good in the catalogue
and looked better on you, but..."
"But?"
"I love the gown." Zhyan pulled her closer as they kept
walking. "You looked like a goddess." He smiled. "I also saw you
considering your traditional dress, the one your people use. Some of those
designs were delightful as well and I was wondering, why didn't you pick
one?"
Zhyan looked with interest the little pout her lips formed. "I'm
not complaining.” He said. “Just curious."
She remained silent for some
time before she answered. "I could have, I guess... Perhaps I should have,
as my sister wanted. Mother's wedding gown was lovely. I would have worn it if
it hadn't been destroyed."
"Destroyed?"
Tonati's eyes glazed a bit, lost in memory. "I was very young.
That day we lost so many things that couldn't ever be replaced. Though the
dress was the least of it all."
Zhyan tightened the hold on her hand, encouraging her to go on. She
smiled.
"No, I don't mourn the dress. My sister will get her own gown to
wear when she marries, anyway." Tonati said no more.
Zhyan's brow puckered lightly. She had given him an answer but she
hadn't said much. He stopped and pulled her close. Letting go of her hand to
half embrace her, he inquired silently.
Tonati sighed and closed her eyes.
"Not now, love. Not here." She looked at him and smiled.
"I will tell you all you want to know later, answer all your questions.
Let's just enjoy the now, yes? This spot is lovely. Did you just find it or
were you told about it at the hotel?"
Zhyan allowed the change in topic with a kiss to her forehead. He looked
around and slowly led her towards a patch of bushes, close enough to the river
so they could hear its song.
"When I woke up and saw you were gone... yes, I saw the note;
don't give me that look, love!" He chuckled. "Anyway, when I saw you
were gone I thought I should stretch the wings a little. They took me to you.”
Zhyan kissed her tenderly. "I saw this place on the way. I like it. It is
quiet... "
"And warm. It’s very
nice." She finished for him.
They kissed again, growing bold with passion. The sun was higher and it
warmed up the area. The thick bushes around provided them with privacy and,
knowing they were alone, their moans and grunts were uncontained.
After a while, Tonati sat up and looked at the river, pondering if its
depth would allow her to swim. She then turned to her husband and smiled
impishly at him. Zhyan smiled back, not needing her to speak for him to know
her desire. He followed her as she stood up and raced with her to the river.
The water was cold and they yelped until they became accustomed, via mutual
splashing, to its temperature.
Laughter and splashing sounds broke into the silence of the forest
while the couple swam and played in the river. Though having enormous fun,
Zhyan decided it was enough. The cold did not bother him at all yet, but he
knew Tonati's teeth could start clattering soon. There was a reason she had the
Fire room at the Fortress. She resisted nevertheless and tried to swim away,
forcing Zhyan to chase her. Giggling all the time, Tonati evaded her husband
for a very short time. Zhyan caught her easily. Knowing her weaknesses, he
punished her when she tried to escape; pulling her close, he kissed her deeply.
Tonati moaned and clinged to him, never noticing she was being carried ashore.
She found herself swirled around in her husband's arms. He chuckled and she
joined until he stopped moving and kissed her once more, breathless.
Feeling the breeze cool around them, they searched for Tonati's purse.
Fetching from within its depths large towels, Zhyan wrapped one around his
waist and used the other to dry his wife off while she brushed the water out of
her hair. He pressed the terrycloth on her arms and shoulders. Zhyan then ran
the towel on her back and his hand followed it, caressing her tan skin. It was
warm and perfectly smooth, until he reached in between her shoulder blades. There was a patch of soft, uneven skin under his
fingers: a scar. A bit darker than the rest of her skin, it marked the area
where she had hosted a huge batch of dangerous imp eggs. He bent to kiss it,
making her sigh. Zhyan wrapped her in his arms and she leaned eagerly against
him. He still remembered her face, twisted in pain, as he applied the antidote.
It had been done in the nick of time, just before the imps had hatched and released
a powerful poison in her system.
“You know… it may not be any easier from now on.” Zhyan whispered. He
closed his eyes and sighed deeply.
Tonati turned within his arms to look into his eyes. She saw tenderness
and love, but there was also concern and fear. Fear for her.
“Nothing worthy ever is.” Tonati said. She let him see all her love for
him. “I know we will face trouble, Zhy.” She thought about the foes they had
encountered together and, remembering the dress argument with her sister, wondered
how many other demons they had fought on their own.
Zhyan smiled and Tonati smiled back. The dark mood dissipated, she took
his hands to kiss them.
“We share paths now. We don’t need to walk alone anymore. I'll do my
best to please you. I'm so happy to have found you!”
“I AM pleased.” He kissed her softly. “And so happy. And lucky.”
“I’m the lucky one…” She mumbled, Zhyan barely understood her words
while she kissed him back. “And so very happy, too.”
Zhyan pulled both of them back into the bushes and deepened the kiss.
Tonati growled hungrily in his arms as they made love once more in a slow,
tender way. They had all day long.
ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś
There, Vehnar... There they are.”
A dark haired man responded to his equally dark haired companion and
looked in the direction she indicated. He saw a tall lilac haired man holding
hands and walking with a shorter woman of raven black hair and tan skin. They
were laughing as they directed their steps towards one of the spa's building,
where Vehnar knew the cafeteria was
“Indeed.” He said, following the couple with his eyes. “They are as you
said, Paula.” His blue eyes narrowed when he focused on the man. “Very
tempting, but off limits.”
“What?” The female turned to her partner, fine features twisted in a
deep scowl. “They are both a fine prize!”
Amused eyes fell upon her. Both characters were wearing dark sport
suits that enhanced the pallor of their skin.
“And they are. Or would be if they could be taken, which I doubt.”
Vehnar looked back at the couple. “She could be an easier mark, should she be
alone. Her companion on the other hand... I don’t think even I could take him.
Not easily in any case.”
“What if we both take him?” Paula licked her lips, considering the
feast.
“No.”
“But..!”
“Listen, fledgling!” The man grabbed Paula’s slender shoulders and
shook her gently. “You are growing stronger but you are still growing! There
are others we can indulge on. Easier prey."
“I am no weakling!” Paula exclaimed, stamping a foot against the floor.
“I can take them... I could take her...”
Vehnar smiled at her childish tantrum. “We’ve just arrived and you are
hungry, young one. Come. We will find you nourishment.” With a gentle pull of her
arm, Vehnar steered Paula towards the jogging fields. “In your actual stage,
hunger must be placated as quickly as possible.”
Paula allowed his guidance, recognizing and admitting the pangs of
need. She could not stop herself from
looking back, though and set her eyes once more on the couple. They were so
appetizing.
::I could take her, sure I
can... :: Paula thought. ‘... should
she be alone’. Her pale lips tightened. She was hungry, but also used to getting
what she wanted. She would get this as well.
“Show me.”
“W-w-what?” Paula stammered as she turned her attention to Vehnar, who
was signaling towards several guests on the jogging fields. They were
stretching, their exercise routines either starting or finished already.
“Choose one and show me how you hunt.” Vehnar said, softly pushing
Paula forward. “I’ll watch.”
Paula moved forward and focused in her hunger to change her vision
wave. It made her blink. Her enhanced sight told her which person would be the
most apt to feed her. As she approached her intended victim, she forced herself
not to smile. It was so easy.
She moved closer to her choice, a tall male of an unknown species to
her. His hair was white and his skin was a pale blue but his aura! While not as
bright as the one of the lilac haired man, this one was electric blue. He
seemed strong enough for her to feed nicely.
Paula prepared herself for the most basic technique: allure and isolate
the victim. When she was about to stumble onto her chosen victim, a tennis
class started on a court nearby, attracting most of the guests. For an instant,
Paula feared that Electric Blue would join them but instead he headed past her
and into the buildings.
Vehnar chuckled when he sensed his fledgling’s confusion. She started
to walk after Electric Blue. Vehnar nodded to himself. She was improving and
most of all, Paula seemed to control her impatience and hunger better. But even
now, he could feel her need adding to his own; he would have to feed as well
soon. Vehnar raised his arms to stretch in a gesture of contentment. He had
seen Paula and her prey enter the Spa and he knew she would not take long.
He really did not have to wait much before he felt Paula's spirit stir
and start to feed. Vehnar snorted when he realized that he had not “seen” it
all, but everything was equally fine. Paula would finish in some more minutes,
so he started to select his own prey but something stopped him. Paula! Why was
Paula sending out her spirit a second time? He turned and practically stumbled
against Electric Blue and another man, who had stepped out and were walking
back to the fields.
With a deep scowl frozen on his handsome face, Vehnar rushed into the
building wondering what had happened.
He followed the spiritual scent of his pupil through several hallways,
to the dinning zone and the souvenir area.
Several doorways were before him and he wondered which one to use. He knew Paula was close, but where? Why had
she let Electric Blue go? To the left! There was another aura raising from...
the ladies restroom. Vehnar hesitated for a moment but when he heard the thumping of a body against a flat surface, he promptly opened the door. His fledgling was leaning on the farthest wall, near the booths, with a stunned expression on her face. In front of Paula the tan skinned woman from before, defiant and brandishing a peculiar looking dagger, was grinning menacingly.
“Here, skinny... do ya want some more?” She said and made the blade
take a swing towards Paula.
Vehnar noticed his pupil’s growing smirk at the weapon but he could
sense something wrong about it. Both women crouched, ready to lunge at each
other when he realized her knife was charged with a sort of energy. Vehnar
launched an attack of his own, releasing his spirit briefly, before the females
could be within harm reach. The dark skinned woman groaned and fell on her
knees while Paula, unaffected, moved down on her. Vehnar was about to join his
minion, wanting to secure that blade when powerful fingers grabbed his shoulder
and pulled at him.
"Going somewhere? Let me help you!" Vehnar heard the words
growled at him but all he could do was gasp as he was thrown back. He hit the
wall across the hallway with enough strength to knock the wind out of him.
"Tonati! Stay away from her!"
Vehnar recovered in time to watch the lilac haired man walk through the
doorway. He would see his own companion in danger and attack Paula! Vehnar
summoned his power as fast as he could to shoot a sphere of vermilion energy, making
the newcomer stagger and miss his own target. White blue energy seared the wall
near Paula. The heat of it partly melted some crystal mirrors. Lilac hair then
stepped forward prepared, Vehnar knew, to remove Paula with his bare hands.
Vehnar could feel the brilliant aura building up, so he jumped and tackled
Lilac Hair down.
“Zhyan!” The dark skinned woman tried to yell a warning but it was too
late. Both men were rolling in a tangle of limbs, trying to shake the other
off. Managing to get up first, Zhyan threw several powered up punches at
Vehnar’s body, moving through his enemy's defense with ease. He increased the
speed of the attack the impacts making Vehnar stumble and collapse down.
Zhyan turned him over and seized his neck; a glowing fist was ready for
a final hit.
“Stop! Leave him alone!” Paula
demanded and grabbed Tonati’s head to keep the woman on her knees. She wrapped
an arm around the tan neck before Zhyan could approach. Tonati tried to loosen
the grip with her hands but that only made it grow tighter making her choke
slightly, forcing her to remain still.
“Move any closer and she is gone!” Paula said. “Release Vehnar.”
Zhyan hesitated. The man was his only warrant to bargain on Tonati’s
safety. He looked at his wife and was slightly surprised to see her wink at
him. Not taking his sight off his enemy, Zhyan acquiesced and stepped away from
Vehnar.
“M’okay...” Vehnar answered the question he read in Paula’s eyes and
rubbed the sore area. Then he regarded Lilac...the one called Zhyan,
closely. “Be done with it, Paula and
let’s go!”
Zhyan glared at the couple. Paula smiled wickedly and placed her right
palm on Tonati’s head, who gasped at the stirring of powers.
"Tonati!" Despite his spouse's prior wink and assurance,
Zhyan jumped closer but Vehnar, expecting the move, projected a larger energy
sphere. Taken by surprise, Zhyan crashed against the wall, cracking it.
Unharmed and worried, he swiftly directed his steps once more to help his wife.
“Vehnar! It’s not working! How...? Agh!”
Tonati sent her left elbow back with all her might and succeeded in
disturbing the grip Paula, already distracted, had on her. Tonati then grabbed
the arm around her neck and bent forward. Using a shoulder throw to send Paula
flying flat against the floor.
“Momanahuiá*! I already told you, you’re not strong enough, skinny!”
Tonati's accent grew thicker with her heavy breathing. She was looking down in
contempt at Paula who was sprawled perplexed on the floor.
Zhyan snickered at that image. While his wife recovered her blade,
Zhyan summoned back his wings so they would not distract his attention by being
in an alternate dimension. "Now..." He grinned. "Where were
we?"
Paula hissed enraged, so only Vehnar noticed the upgrade in power in
his adversary and also in the increased shield of the “prey”. Both auras glowed
together in rhythm.
//We won't make it!// Vehnar knew it
and hurriedly made plans. Paula would not be of great help in battle as she was
too inexperienced, too eager from hunger and just not strong enough for this!
Damn her stubborn pride! But he would not let them hurt her. In front of them
was the female, Tonati, brandishing her black dagger. At their side and close
to the door was the now winged Zhyan, thriving in energy. Paula started to get up baring her teeth in
anger and ready to strike the other woman down when Vehnar jumped at her,
pulling her away barely in time as scorching heat flowed from Zhyan’s powerful
attack.
Vehnar tried to link his mind and senses with Paula's to guide her, but
the rage within her was too much. They had to go! He needed a diversion, and he
needed it now. Looking around, he made his choice. Holding Paula near, he
released his aura. The power surged, lashing out and Zhyan struggled against
it, until he noticed who the target really was.
“NO!” He ran to Tonati, making it barely in time to prevent her hitting
the floor. He lowered himself while holding her.
Tonati groaned. She had felt energy spears go through her shields and
pin her immobile. Those same spears pulsed within her. It had been as if an
electric discharge hit her, leaving her body tingling as they slowly withdrew,
as if moving through thick molasses. It felt wrong, it was pulling at her,
taking her breathe and senses away for a moment.
When she was able to see and hear again, she was sitting on the marble
floor with Zhyan supporting her against his chest. She had dropped her blade
and her trembling hand latched onto his shirt. She followed his instructions
and pulled more air within her lungs; panting, her eyes searched for danger
signals but found none. Vehnar and Paula had run away.
“Tonati?” Zhyan tilted her head up so he could see her eyes. They were
glazed and her breathing was still shallow. “Love, how do you feel?”
Tonati frowned slightly, thinking the question over. “Tired. Very
tired... dizzy.” She mumbled and closed her eyes.
“What’s going on here?” Looking up, Zhyan saw one of the Spa employees
approaching. His booming voice seemed to ease the frowns of several women
around him. Zhyan assumed they had reported a problem in the ladies restroom.
Zhyan picked Tonati up, and looked at the tag on the man’s lapel.
* Miris Jeramy.
Manager*
“Jeramy!” Zhyan called to get the man’s attention whom, at the moment,
was checking the damage to the room: broken mirrors, charred walls and cracked
water taps. “Manager, right? Good. I want to report an assault on my wife! I
want a doctor to check her and for you to get me the attackers! They were a
young woman and a man, both pale, dark hair, in dark sport suits...”
“You said an attack? Is she injured, sir...?” Jeramy noted the paleness
of the female.
“Get me a medic and you’ll know it! She was zapped by an energy
vampire!”
More of the personnel had arrived and they were startled at the news.
Jeramy shushed them as he made room for him to lead Zhyan towards the lobby.
“Axel, take care of the room and have security meet with us in...” He
was using a small communicator to call a doctor.
“Suite 381” Zhyan provided, heading that way.
“Of course. Sir, please, can you tell me what happened?” Jeramy trotted
behind Zhyan, having the medic already dispatched into that room.
“I told you! My wife was attacked!” Zhyan yelled but was repentant of
doing so as Tonati whimpered. "Sorry, love. You’ll be fine soon...”
Using his skeleton key to open the door, Jeramy helped them into their
room where Zhyan gently lowered Tonati into bed, sitting on the mattress next
to her. She seemed to be half asleep, conscious enough to hold Zhyan’s hand
within hers.
The physician arrived shortly and proceeded to examine her whilst Zhyan
gave more details to Jeramy and the security chief. He told them how they had
returned from a morning stroll and separated when Zhyan had entered the dining
room to order breakfast for two; Tonati had excused herself for a moment and
obviously entered the restroom. Jeramy was horrified that such an attack had
happened in their Spa and assured Zhyan that all the guests were inquired to
prevent such occurrences. If a guest had special needs, the Resort provided
them for -very discreetly- without having to affect third parties.
“Seems that this couple did not find your arrangements appealing,
though. Have you found them yet?” He said dryly.
“Not a trace.” Said the Security chief, a huge man called Gerard.
“We're using all our resources to find them, don’t worry. We will.”
Zhyan was very skeptic about it. He could not feel the signature on
Vehnar’s power anymore and he wouldn't leave Tonati alone. It was unlikely the
vampires would return to feed again, but he planned to be ready if it happened.
Jeramy offered all their commodities and assistance to help.
The doctor came closer and reported that, besides the tiredness, Tonati
was fine. All she needed was rest and food and Jeramy promised the best meals
to be delivered as soon as they called for it.
“It’s complimentary, Lord Dekodoria.” He said with a light nod of his
head. Gerard and the doctor also offered their unconditional service as Zhyan
dismissed them absentmindedly.
They closed the door as they left and Zhyan sat on the bed next to
Tonati. His hand caressed her cheek and
he talked softly until she was completely asleep. Draping the coverlet
over her, Zhyan was ready to guard her sleep.
ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś ťźś
They had run at top speed to put as much distance between Zhyan and
themselves. Vehnar knew it was possible for such a creature to “feel” their spirits,
especially now that there could be a power trail to follow. So, as soon as they
found a small cave to hide in, Vehnar was attempting to lower their energy to
the forest’s level. Thus, he hoped no one could track them.
“Hush, fledgling and be quiet.
Don’t question me and relax. Become one with our surroundings... let me in
control.”
“But it’s cold.” Paula shivered.
“I know.” Vehnar pushed dark locks away from her eyes as he pulled her closer.
“Sshh. We’ll be safe here; in the forest they won’t find us. I'll feed you
later but now we must hide.” Paula obeyed and soon she was deeply asleep in his
