Nightmares
Part #3
Spark
had the sensation of walking in a dream. The soft breeze carried
the flowers sweet scent and she breathed deeply humming a short tune.
The twilight hour had ended now and night time was near. Tiny fireflies
began to dance in the air. It was so lovely, so peaceful. She smiled, enjoying
the warm and fragrant air. It was as sweet as Peachyra`s garden, at the
Fortress. With that thought she stopped, frowning and leaned against a big
trunk: She massaged her temples.
“eiiiiii!”
The
sudden eerie scream made her stop. It was a little creature!! Spark regarded
it more closely. Its tiny arms protected its head while petrified expected the
hit that never arrived.
Spark
leaned and gently touched it, ready to grab it if it tried to run away. It
cringed but remained there.
The
creature unraveled itself and nodded to the girl, looking and measuring her with
his big green eyes. The pixie started to pull the edge of her tunic, calling her
attention. Once it had it completely, the pixie pointed at the forest. Spark
looked in the direction the pixie signaled and watched several fireflies coming
toward her. Their glimmer illuminated the woods as they fluttered over the small
flowers, bringing their colors back to life.
The
pixie pulled her tunic once more and Spark looked up, trying to see if there was
a full moon before standing up and walking after the pixie. She remembered
Zhyan`s warning about being in the forest under a full moon.
“Zhyan.”
She thought, “Could it be that he sent this pixie?” with this idea in mind,
she followed the green creature, walking through the cloud of small lights,
their buzz filling the air and they lit their way. Spark could see the road now,
even when she did not remember walking through this part before, as she did not
remember walking out of her home neither.
They
approached a clearing, visible now, and the scent of flowers was again in her
mind. The firefly swarm was bigger now and some of the lights flew near Spark.
Near enough for her to see that those were not insects. They had wings but they
did not have 3 pairs of limbs, just two. The number of flowers between the tree
trunks also increased and now Spark could notice their colors, mostly pink and a
pale blue. Theirs was a sweet scent but smelling them she failed to notice other
creatures watching her. Taller than the pixie, they had a heavier body structure covered by a thick and gray skin. They
were seated on the road and silently
observed and snickered at her.
Not
noticing their presence, Spark followed the bright and tiny lights. They seemed
to dance around her, ushering her to a place where the forest gave room for the
clearing, a small hill at its center. It was covered with lots of flowers and
green grass She could see the sky now and there was no full moon. . Spark
stopped at the edge of the forest, taking note by first time that her pixie
companion was not with her.
Lovely
as the meadow was, she smiled at another sight. A person stood at the top of the
hill.
Spark
was aghast at his assault but even more at his face. That expression! She had
seen it before in a deikindrian and it had not been Zhyan!! She pulled her face
away of him, struggling to be free. The archangel grabbed her by the arms,
causing her pain.
“Darrien!”
She spat at him. “Your disguise does not trick me any more!”
Zhyan’s
form was a blur when Darrien Alkatrin assumed his real appearance.
“Good!”
He said smiling “I thought you’d realize the deception much later! Too bad,
you are doomed anyway!” With a satisfied cackle he leaned to kiss her once
again.
Deeply
disgusted, Spark raised her leg and kicked him. Darrien lost his balance enough
to loose the grip on her. Pushing him away Spark turned and fled, listening the
laughter of the insane archangel behind her.
With a
powerful leap he grabbed her by the shoulder and spinning her, slapped her hard
on the face. Spark fell, the force of his strike almost made her loose her
consciousness.
