Subject: first fic for here
Hey everyone! I finally did it! I wrote a short fic for the list. This is
only the second time I've written a fic, and the first that I've actually
finished one. I hope you all like it, it's a bit different then what you
usually like. Two things to note: I also wrote this as a late birthday
present to my old college housemate/beta reader. So, she's the one who's
guest staring in it, and it will probably be a one time apperence. Second,
I had origionally planned on just writting this for the few FF's as I'm not
sure how interested anyone else was in it. But Spark and Chanur insisted
that I send it to the list, so here goes. Hope you enjoy, and I definatly
want to hear your honest opinions of it.
Peachy
************************************************************************
In the middle of a nameless forest, on a cool fall afternoon, on top of a
large, flat hill, Peachyra seemed to just appear. Her arms were filled with
some small, red tinted plants. The lush foliage of the forest seemed to
look right at her, every step she took, with even a few vines following her.
Peachy moved around the perimeter of her new territory, planting the
strange red plants every few feet. "In a few days, it will be safe for the
others to come into the area," she thought to herself. "I just wish they
hadnt been such babies about getting their blood taken."
Covering the last plant, Peachyra stood up and walked back to the hill,
brushing the dirt off her hands. When she reached the entrance she was meet
by a trio of large, menacing looking plants. In fact, they were the same
ones that she had accidentally set on Spark a few weeks before, not
realizing they had a taste for blood. The plants parted obediently at her
presence, but would not be so nice to someone she hadnt keyed into the area
with her Blood Plants.
She descended into the earth, via a small lift, and then continued downward
on a spiral staircase into a well lit hallway. She walked into the dinning
room to find a tall fox anthropomorphous bopping along to the music from her
headphones while she put the finishing touches to the walls decorations.
Peachy walked over to her and tapped the fox on the shoulder. The dark red
fox towered above the avatar, even though they were actually close in
height. Her neon green platform boots added a good 5 inches to her height
while matching her incredibly short neon green micro skirt. Rei from Neo
Genesis Evangalion stared back from the foxs chest. "Wonder how she
squeezes into that baby-tee?" Peachy thought to herself.
"Oy vey! I never thought I was going to finish this monstrosity of a place,
Peachy!" the fox exclaimed as she took off her headphones.
"Music from The King and I, Naraku? That really doesnt fit, does it?"
Naraku shrugged her shoulders. "An ex got me hooked on the old musical. He
liked Yul just a little too much."
The avatar just shook her head and rolled her eyes at the fox. "Lets go
look over the rest of the place and make sure weve taken care of
everything."
The duo checked over the dinning room first, making sure all the lights
worked, and then walked into the kitchen via the adjoining door. The
kitchen was fully stocked with a wide variety of appliances, from a huge gas
stove and oven, to the massive refrigerator/freezer. There were enough
smaller appliances to make a professional chef think he was in heaven. And
the dishwasher would make even the laziest get their chores done quickly.
"I believe this will be more then sufficient for the group." Commented the
avatar. "Ive set up a large storage areas down in the lowest level for
extra foodstuffs. More freezers too, for Chanurs kills."
The friends move on to the hallway, and into a huge room that took up almost
half of the ring of the first floor. The living/play room was huge, and
filled with tons of toys, with room for more. A big screen TV sat in one
corner, surrounded by comfy looking chairs and couches. A multitude of
movies and video games were placed in shelves by the entertainment system.
The rest of the room was filled with a pool table, foozeball table, some
smaller televisions and a killer sound system. There was also, in one
corner, a very large bar that was fully stocked. The wood paneled walls
stood bare, so that the whole team could be involved in decorating it with
pictures and posters of their choosing.
"You dont think you over did it on the entertainment division, do you?"
quipped the fox.
"Naaaa, I dont think so." Mused Peachy. "These guys will use the room
pretty often I think. Not everyones gonna be out hunting or fighting all
the time. Besides, wed all get bored to death without this stuff and the
library. Now, if only I could get some of the members to be a bit more
literate."
The anthro just shook her head at that. "And waste all those lovely books!
You must let me come visit now and then to peruse your selections."
Peachy just smiled and nodded her reply, "Of course."
The next room over was a small gym that filled with the standard array of
bodybuilding equipment. After that there was a bathroom had doors so that
you could enter both through the gym and the hallway beyond. But the pair
didnt move toward that direction. Instead they headed for the door leading
to the courtyard in the middle of the compound. The large area was sunny,
and shaded by a tree that was already showing above the walls. A large
platform could be just made out near the top of the tree. It was held in
place by the branches of the tree, and some vines twisting about it, making
a lip all around the edge.
"Its still got a while to grow, but I have to take my time with it." Stated
the avatar, when she noticed the foxs interest. "Speed growing a tree like
that can take a lot of energy. Not to mention the challenge of making all
the roots grow between the walls and floors of the lower levels."
"Why bother?" Naraku asked. "It will grow on its own."
"Oh, sure I could leave it to grow on its own, but I want everything to be
set as soon as possible, and we it would look funny just having a little bit
of tree on top of a hill." Replied Peachyra. "Besides, its for Chanur,
its what he wants."
The fox just gave her a knowing look and moved on to inspect the garden.
There were a number of benches, chairs, and hammocks within the pleasure
garden. The rest of the courtyard was taken up by open grounds for training
and so that Zhyan, the flying member of the FFs, could land safely.
Peachyra started toward the door at the other end of the courtyard. "Well,
this is looking great. Lets head down to the lower levels to check them
over."
The fox followed in her wake as they both jogged across the compound and
through the door.
The duo was just about to descend the staircase when there was a yell from
the courtyard.
"That sounds like Zhyan!" exclaimed the avatar.
Peachyra and Naraku both ran back outside to the site of a large number of
vines, and well as some tree branches attacking the dark archangel. With a
wave of Peachys hand, the tree branches stopped beating on Zy and the vines
let him go. Not being prepared for the sudden stop of the attack, the
archangel was freefalling and before he could right himself, landed face
first on the hard training ground with a very audible thud.
Stretching his leathery wings, Zy got up and growled at the avatar. "What
in hell was that all about?!"
"I told you not to come for a few more days. I havent had the time to get
all the defenses keyed into everyone yet. Besides, I want the fort to stay
a surprise for everyone until its all ready. So go catch some more pixies,
or bother Kam, or something. Just go!" Peachyra yelled as she made a lower
tree branch smack the archangel on the butt, sending him a few feet into the
air.
"But cant I just have a quick look around, since Im already here?" Zy
pleaded.
"No, you cant. No one is getting a free preview, and if you dont get
going, Im going to send the vines after you again." Peachyra tapped her
foot as she awaited Zhyans answer. A few vines seemed to wave at him.
"Fine! Have it your way." The archangel huffed and flew off.
Naraku finally burst into laughter, as a few tears rolled down her snout
from holding it in so long. "Where do you find these people, Peach?" She
blurted out.
"Oh, they tend to just drop in, usually unannounced. I think I must be a
magnet of some kind." Replied the Avatar.
Both women broke into laughter again as they headed back indoors. They
finally got control of themselves once they got back inside. Naraku stopped
at a small door just off from the stairs.
"Whats this for Peach?" Asked the fox. "I dont remember doing anything
inside of here."
"Oh, thats just the "Pixie Cleaning Supplies" closet, there is one on the
next floor as well." Replied the Avatar. "Something Zhyan told me to set up
since well be having a number of pixie slaves around to do the housework,
feed the plants and such. Im just wondering if its going to be supplies
for the pixies to use during clean up, or if it is supplies to clean up
after the pixies. They do make quite a bit of dust."
The anthro just rolled her eyes and shook her head. "This is just too
weird, Peach. Lets head down to the next floor."
The second floor was comprised completely of bedrooms and bathrooms. There
were three full bathrooms scattered about the perimeter of the floor. All
with large Jacuzzi baths, a separate shower stall, two sinks, toilet, and
large closets for towels and supplies.
There were 7 bedrooms around the walls as well. Each one decorated in a
different color scheme. From dark, broody colors, to bright cheerful ones,
to a few light and airy colored rooms. There should be something for
anyones taste in the circle. While each room was outfitted with a bed,
desk, some plants, lights and comfortable chair, they were still very bare.
"I thought Id leave most of the decorating to the people wholl occupy the
rooms. Then, any rooms that are left I can add a few things later, and use
for guest rooms." Peachy explained
"Whats with all the plants on this floor, Peach?" Asked the fox. "I saw
them all over the halls, bathrooms and bedrooms down here, but not any on
the first floor."
"Well, I havent gotten in all the plants yet that I wanted, but I needed to
get them down on the lower levels as soon as possible." Explained the
avatar. "These plants produce an abnormally large amount of oxygen and need
very little light. This way, we dont need a regular ventilation system."
Naraku just shook her head as the two went over to the first main bedroom.
"Ive set up the main rooms in the theme of the four elements, with Earth
toward the North, Air toward the South, and Fire and Water to the West and
East, respectfully. This setup will help with any magics that need to be
performed here, as well as some of the defenses we plan to set up. That is
why I needed to do the decorating of these on my own. Well start with the
Earth room." The avatar stated as she opened the first door of the four
central rooms.
To say that Naraku was taken aback by the starkness of the room would be an
understatement. While all the rooms were very basic, lacking much of any
decorations, they all had some basic furniture and a rug. The Earth room
lacked even that. The walls were a cream color with a few Earth symbols
written on them in dark browns and forest greens. The floor was tiled in
the same shades of brown and green with only a few small throw rugs on the
floor. In one corner there was a simple sleeping pallet piled with some
animal furs and in another corner were some larger plants.
"Why so plain in here, Peachy?" Inquired the fox.
"Well," began the avatar, "this is going to be Chanurs room, and he
requested it this way. Hell, he didnt even want any rugs at all, but I
figured if I gave them to him, he wouldnt refuse. Of course, that remains
to be seen. Hes a bit of a loner, and an oddball. But if starkness is
what makes him happy, so be it. Hopefully well be able to house train him
quickly. Im not even sure if he knows what a bathroom is for yet. I
suppose since weve got tile in here, we could always put a litter box in a
corner and he should be able to take care of that himself."
Naraku ran over to one bare corner and announced laughingly, "Oh, right here
would be the perfect spot! I think you should just put a box in here now,
and then youll be all ready for him. You never can be too prepared, you
know!" The anthro leaned against the wall as she laughed.
When Peachy finally stopped laughing she swung the door almost closed to
show Naraku the inside of it. "Check out this lock he insisted on." Peachy
said as she pointed to a large iron deadbolt. "This thing is huge! And he
insisted on ironwood for the door too. So, I guess this makes up, expense
wise, for the rest of the room."
The two walked out the door and down the hall to the next room as the avatar
continued. "Hes pretty big on his privacy. I just hope that we never have
to try and break down that door for any reason, because I dont see it
happening."
Peachyra opened up the next door to a very bright room. The fire room had
walls of cream as well, with symbols painted on them in reds and oranges and
golds. The whole room was a repeat of those colors as well as some rusts on
the wall hangings, carpets and bed coverings. Besides the usual furnishings
and plants that most of the other rooms boasted of, there was a small alter
in one corner of this room.
"Just what is that supposed to be for?" Naraku asked while pointing over to
the stone fixture.
"Well, Im not quite sure myself, other then Sparky wants it for something
to do with her religious practices. Shes got another, larger one down in
the cellar area, but she wanted a smaller version in her room as well. What
can I say, Im here to please." Concluded the Avatar.
"You certainly have aligned yourself with some very interesting characters,
Peachy." The fox quipped.
The other two central rooms were similarly equipped with the same
cream-colored walls with the elemental symbols painted on them. The air
room was accented with an array of pastels while the water room was full of
blues and teals. Other then the change of colors, these rooms had no
special features and both were equipped with the standard furniture and
plants.
The pair headed down to the 3rd level. This was the business floor. The
first rooms the duo came to were four offices. Each one was set up with a
large desk, some filing cabinets, and a few chairs. The now standard, but
still lush plant life was sitting in the corner of each room. Only one of
the offices had a computer set up in it, and some paperwork lying about.
"I had to get my own office going quickly since I had to take over the
catnip trade when Ayanna took medical leave." Peachy explained. "The
business has been booming since Ive been playing with the strength of
plants. In general, things are going quite well, business wise." The
avatar concluded.
Next the two friends checked over the libraries. Row upon row of books
covered the walls of two large rooms on the third floor, taking up most of
the outer ring of space.
"Oooo, I could live in here for the rest of my life and die a happy fox,
Peachy!" Naraku pronounced. "Why did you split it up into two rooms?"
"Well, I had to make it into two rooms to help support the rooms above this.
It also helps having some shelving that goes all the way to the ceiling as
well." Peachy explained. "So weve split them up into two general
categories. This room here houses all the texts that have to do with
anything to do with mythology, religion, or things of a spiritual or
ethereal nature. The other library holds all the scientific things, both
from the real world, and the T-cat universe. We all know how messed up
science is with the Thundercats. That room also has a large tactical
section."
The final room on the floor was a large circular room in the very center. A
huge, round table dominated the conference room. It was painted so that it
looked quartered by the same four elements in the rooms right above the
table. This was to help reinforce the potency of the symbols made in the
rooms above. The table was surrounded by a dozen chairs, with more chairs
set around the wall.
Peachy sighed. "I know its more then we need right now, but you never know
when we might need them. Besides, Im hoping this group will grow."
The two headed back up the stairs to the first level as the avatar
continued. "I think Ive built this whole place in hopes that well expand.
If nothing else, well have lots of room to throw great parties."
The fox laughed at that. "I am sure that youve done a great job, and
youre team will grow. The place looks wonderful, Im sure youll entice a
few just by nice living arrangements. And yes, this is defiantly a great
place to throw a big party."
"Well, thats it, other then the storage rooms and temple down in the fourth
floor. Thank you so much for helping me out, Naraku. Id be still working
my butt off right now, if you hadnt come in."
The two headed up the lift to the outside, so that the anthro could head
back to Mundania.
"Oh, it was really no problem at all, Peachy. I needed a little time away
from med school anyhow. Dont you doubt Ill be back to come play here now
and then. If I ever find the time that is."
The avatar was about to reply when they both heard a half strangled growl
coming from behind a tree that was right in their path. They both ran over
to find another nosy, male FF trapped in Peachys vines.
"When are you guys going to learn to listen to me, Nakur Na Chanur?" Peachy
said while tapping her foot.
"Mhrmmm hrmf hmmm mmm" replied the trussed up Hani.
With a roll of her eyes, Peachy made the vines uncover Chanurs mouth.
"I just wanted a little peak." He said pitifully.
"Well, you got yourself in this mess, and I dont have time to get you out
right now. I have to make sure Naraku gets back to Mundania safe and sound
and a few other things after that. Ill be back in a few hours. Youll
just have to wait till I get back."
And with that, the girls started to walk off while trying hard to hold in
their laughter. When they heard Chanur start to whimper, Peachy turned back
around and waved her hand at the vines once more. All of the sudden two
large and strange fruits were lowered in front of Chanurs face as another
vine slipped a "No Trespassing" sign around his neck.
"That should hold you." Peachy blurted out as both girls turned and ran as
fast as they could while still laughing their heads off.
Chanur struggled fiercely against the vines for a few minutes, but when he
realized it was useless, he started to yell.
"YOU TWO GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! LET ME DOWN FROM HERE! PLEASE! CANT
ANYONE HELP ME! YOU KNOW THAT I HATE FRUIT!!!! PEACHY!!!!!"
