Post Office

Post Office began it's association with Spade Kitty Records in 1997, when "Public Displays of Affection" was released to rave reviews and eager pop music enthusiasts. The tracks were recorded at local studio Kingsize under the watchful eye of Ed Tinley (Liz Phair, the Cure). The album harkens back to 70s and 80s power pop and offers powerful examples of their twofold roots in Americana and British Pop traditions. "Public Displays of Affection" also offers a broad range of arrangements and textures that give a young sighing teen virtually everything they could want in a band of library-card-carrying heroes.

The boys teamed up with Spade Kitty again in 2001 to present to the public their sophomore effort "Fables In Slang," a new album of thirteen tracks recorded and mixed by former db's member and pop legend Chris Stamey at his studio in North Carolina. The album illustrates serious growth and craftsmenship in the Larry and Steve's songwriting talents, and with the addition of Jeff Greaves and Jerry Morrow, the music is as tight and fresh as ever. Tracks like the 6-minute opus "Awake Again" stretch the limits of pop music's boundaries, whereas "Fondly" and "Briefly" have more hooks than a Wisconsin fisherman's tacklebox. The record was released in June 2001 as Spade Kitty's 15th release, and Post Office has been gigging all around the city and the midwest in support of it.
