Going To Indiana (Dean)

You packed up your things & flew
though I mean that metaphorically
the U-Haul was crammed
with your possessions
as you drove toward Muncie

I'm going to Indiana
because there's nothing else to do
it's just a stone's throw away
but I'd rather throw myself at you

We really screwed it up this time
but at least we screwed up with style
& between every bitter tear
my face cracks with a smile

Illinois, Ohio, Michigan
there are only fifty states
& I'll be in Guam
next year at this rate

Maybe we can make it work
there are worse things people have done
than throwing themselves in the path of a train
when sane folks would turn & run
