Suddenly
in the afternoon heat
I saw a hazy figure
moving through the streets
Stuck there in my car
tremors sped through my veins
because I never thought
I'd see her again
Even briefly
Immediately
I got out of my car
She was inches away
I didn't have to go far
We said all the simple things
lots of busy talk
Then she asked if I'd
like to go for a walk
But only briefly
Lately
I've been wondering
Where she is now
& what she's doing
I hope she's happy
with her new life & love
But seeing her then
was almost enough
Even though briefly.
