Some notes on navigation in the site.
Spacetransport has one horizontal navigation bar coloured in blue. This connects all the sections in the site.
A vertical navigation bar coloured in green changes depending on the section you have chosen.
What Browsers and settings are best to view this site?
The following are the minimum requirements:
Each page in this site in this page is tested in 5 diffrerent browsers:
- MS Internet Explorer 5.5+ (Ideal)
- Netscape 6+(Ideal)
- Netscape Navigator 4.7(Does not support CSS fully, so links will not appear correctly)
- Opera 5(Does not show some colours at all, including Y6B3E8, which is the colour of the main navigation bar)
- 1X Net Browser(same as Opera, but does not have Java and Javascript, no CSS, fonts too small. please don't use this browser to surf this site)
The platform is MS Windows 9X.
The display settings are 16 Bit colours at 800*600 resolution on a 14 inch Monitor.
Unfortunately, I cannot test the site on WebTV, SunOS, Linux/Unix, MacOS.
Your browser may not support Java and scripting launguages like Javascript, though it is desirable.
I have tried my best to make this site better for Speech browsers using advice from all the books I have.
What do ratings in front of website links mean?
No ratings are given unless I have visited them myself.
These ratings on Content and Design have been awarded to websites for your benefit. They reflect the webmaster's view.
'Design' has 3 parts:
ease of use(4) ,
speed(3) and
visual appeal(3).
Websites with hign marks on content deserve your click more than those with high marks only in design.
My way of rating may be different from yours, but will always be the same. You can adjust to my ratings and decide which site is worth a visit yourself.
Why is the design of some links rated out of 6(=3+3) [while some are on 10(=4+3+3) ]?
As mentioned above, design has three parts. Ease of navigation does not apply to individual pages in the website. Hence, they are rated only on speed and visual appeal. On the other hand, whenever the link is to the homepage of a site the marks beside it also include navigability.
These are average marks to the whole site.
eg:
spacefuture.com
has 7/10 for content. But no separate rating is given in front of
their vehicle design page i.e. spacefuture.com/vehicles/designs.shtml
It is also possible that the page is under construction if the ratings are missing.
I may have simply forgotten to give a rating. So do inform me whwnever you see anything like it.
Can I contribute articles/opinions/essays/links for inclusion in the site?
