THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Sunday February 2, 2002 Vol.98 Hi, hello and welcome fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to your "fabular and spectaculous" edition of your occaisonal reading. **** Play to Resume; Winter Season Set **** The Space Cowboys are set to begin play in the year 2003. They have been contacted by those in charge of the Tuesday night basketball league at Sports of All Sorts (aka, "the big arena by the highway") and have been informed that the 2003 Winter Season will begin this Tuesday, February 4, at 7 P.M. The 'boys will be taking on their long time rivals, the "thuggy thuggs" of P.W.A. These teams have met on numerous occasions and the Space Cowboys have been victorious each time. Needless to say, the 'thuggs will be coming out fired up, trying to avenge their losses and get their season started with a "W". So come on out to the "big arena by the highway" for the Winter Season opener. Doors will open at 6:27 with pregame festivities following at 6:38. Be there, Tuesday, Tuesday Tuesday! **** Cowboy Roster "Overhaul" **** The Space Cowboys released their roster for the Winter 2003 season on Friday wit ha surprise addition to the team. The 'boys announced that aformer Holy Cross standout would be on the team, but it was not Joushua Beiting as expected. Instead they opted to go with Rob Feldman. Mr. Feldman, who shares an agent with current 'boy Lnace Schickling, signed a one season deal with the Cowboys. He is known as a shooter, but hopes are he can help the inside game as well. If nothing else he adds a little depth to a short bench. He will not be the only "newcomer" helping out on the inside though. The team also confirmed the rumors of a comeback by "Big Man" Ben Keene. Mr. Big Man will once again be patrolling the paint in the Cowboy orange he was born to wear. He took the Spring season off to spend more time on his studies, but now is he to rock and/or roll once again. Finishing out the roster were the returnees, Michael Ash, James Boyer, Jeremy Jeffries, Nick Lubbers, and Lance Schickling. The hopes are highg for this Cowboy team that this will be the team that will bring home the Sports of All Sorts Tuesday Night League Championship. **** Orbital Celebration ***** WIth this the 98th edition of The Occasional Orbiter, we are drawing ever closer to the 100th edition. With such a "spectaculous" event we would like to do something special. We are asking for your ideas on how to celebrate this wonderful "occasion". Send any ideas you have, any at all, to us here at occasionalorbiter@hotmail.com. But don't delay, it's just around the corner! **** Louisville Earth Cowboys **** The Louisville affiliate Earth Cowboys will also begin play in the near future. Their "spring training" starts on February 13 when forwards and centers report to camp. The rest of the squad will report by the 16th to their Bellarmine University practice facility. Once again Kevin Brinkman will start the season with the minor league team with hopes of seeing some more action with the big club. RIght now there is still a chance of that happening. He has been rehabilitating his bruised ego ever since his demotion last season after another disappointing outing. So look for him to come back strong out of spring training and be the unstopable force he was once believed to be. **** News and Notes **** It appears there will not be a rematch of the Space Cowboys and the Elite Eight. They will not be participating in the Winter Season, but don't think the rivalry is dead. They plan on trying once morei nthe SPring to get back into action....With any luck the return of "big Man" Ben Keene, the 'boys are also hoping for the rturn of "bigger Man" Larry Keene. Although personally invited to come out last season, Mr. Keene failed to make it to any of the games. But this #1 fan will almost certainly make it out to watch his loving son. That will be all for this edition of the Occasional Orbiter. If you have any question comments or new subscribors email us at occasionalorbiter@hotmail.com.
