THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Monday October 21, 2002 Vol.91 Hi, hello and welcopmd fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to this edtion of your occasional reading. **** Cowboys Play Just Well Enough For Win **** The Space Cowboys jumped out to a two (2) and zero (0) start as they defeated the "thuggy thuggs" of P.W.A. Tuesday night sixty-one (61) to fifty-six (56) in the second game of the Fall Season. The home team struggled throughout the contest, but in the end held on for the victory. The game began very promising for the Cowboys. They jumped out to an early lead, and seemed to be well on their way to running away with the game in the early goings. Of course that was not the case, but they still retained a comfortable ten (10) point halftime lead on a three (3) pointer dropped in by Lance Schickling as the buzzer sounded. Overall in the first half the team did not shoot particularly well. Thirteen (13) of twenty-two (22) overall (40%) and seven of nineteen (37%) from three point land. Although not very good, forty percent shooting in the second half would have put the 'thuggs down for the proverbial count, but once again, that was not the case. The second half was a rather putrid one for the Space Cowboys. They shot five (5) of twenty-one (21) (24%) from the field to quickly lose their ten (10) point lead. They had to rely heavily on their free throw shooting and for the second game in a row, that is what won the game. Theh 'boys were a remarkable seventeen of nineteen (89%) from the line for the game. They connected on twelve (12) of fourteen (14) in the second half alone. The home team's last nine (9) points were scored from the line to seal the victory. Bright spots were few and far between for the 'boys this week. THe only positive note from this win, other than the fact it was a win, was the free throw shooting. The 'boys will be taking on the "thugg e. thuggs" of Go Ahead Beat It. The 'boys will be looking to extend their winning streak to three (3) to begin the season. Nothing is known of these particular "thugg e. thuggs" other than they area different team than the one played last week. The home team will morethan likely have a bench for this week's matchup. Newcomer Andy Krallman, whose debut was pushed back a week due to a strained calf muscle, is expected to make his first appearance. Mr. Krallman will most defitnly give the 'boys a boost, not only because he is a sound basketball player, but becuase he will make a "substitution" become a possibility. So come on out to the "big arena by the highway" to witness the Space Cowboys roll off their third straight win to begin the 2002 Fall Season. Doors will open at 5:30 with pregame festivities already underway. **** Cowboy Records Updated **** For those of you who don't know, the Space Cowboys have a space on the world wide web where you can get anything you ever imagined about the team.
