THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Tuesday July 30, 2002 Vol. 81 Hi, hell and welcome fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to this late breaking e dition of your occasional reading. **** Season of Perfection Out of Sight **** The Space Cowboys hopes of completing a perfect season were dashed last Tuesday night when they fell to the "thuggy thuggs" of The Jam sixty-six (66) to fifty-two (52). This first loss of the season comes with the entire Cowoboy team coming together. Michael Ash, Jeremy Jeffries and Keith Lubbers returned to the "big arena by the highway" in less than a triumphant manner. While Mr. Ash contriubuted his share with a solid five (5) for seven (7) outing, all three pointers, the same cannot be said for the other "retunees". Mr. Lubbers and Mr. Jeffries combined for a not so good looking three (3) for fifteen (15) shooting performance in their first game of the season. This type of "basketball" is not going to bring a "plethora" of wins. They blame cannot be placed soley on the shoulders of these two 'boys though. The Space Cowboys play as a team. They win as a team and lose as a team, and this was most defintly a team loss. "The Jam" just could not seem to miss a field goal attempt. They shot an "incredulous" seventy-seven (77) percent (%). With those kinds of numbers being put up there is not a lot that can be done especially with the tenacious defense exhibited by the home team. **** Box Score July 23, 2002 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP K.Lubbers 10 1 7 1 3 0 2 3 Brinkman 20 0 4 0 3 0 0 0 N.Lubbers 23 5 11 4 8 0 0 14 Jeffries 24 2 8 1 7 0 0 5 Ash 30 5 7 5 7 0 0 15 Schickling 34 5 10 3 6 0 0 13 Keene 44 1 4 0 0 0 0 2 Totals 185 19 51 14 34 0 2 52 39% 41% 0% Attendance: 6 (Batsche, Kaylor, Kidd, Sears, Rory, Young) Season Attendance: 10 Special Thanks to Scorekeeper Jessica Kidd **** Next Game Tuesday July 30, 2002 **** The Space Cowboys will next be in action on Tuesday July 30 at 7 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence.
