OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hello fellow Cowboys of the Space variety, yes, believe it or not, is once again time for your occasional reading. **** Cowboys Drop Third (3rd) Straight **** The Space Cowboys lost their third (3rd) game in a row Tuesday night at Sports of All Sorts. An overall poor shooting effort led to the sevety-five (75) to sixty-seven (67) loss to the "thuggy thug" Iron Donkey's. The "hometeam" came out at the beginning of the game ready to play, and after falling behind early, they went on a run to take as much as an eleven (11) point lead. The lead was in most part due to the hot shooting of fat guard Michael Ash, who once again, defyed all odds and made a few three's (3's). But once again, a few missed fast break layups overshadowed the rest of his game. But the lead would dwindle down to as little as four(4) by halftime, partly due to the "thuggy thugs" midgame aquisition of two (2) "star" players. Once these fine, upstanding thugs entered the game there was definte change in momentum. The 'boys held strong though, but not quite midway thorugh the second (2nd) half they relinquished the lead and would not regain it for the remainder of the basketball contest. Besides "fatty's" good game there were a couple other "bright spots" for the Space Cowboys. Center Benjamin Keene, continued his strong play with a solid shooting performance and a tough inside game. Also the return of Kevin Brinkman to the lineup was a definite boost. Although he failed to score, Mr. Brinkman grabbed a few rebounds, took a charge and defintly "rattled the heads of the opponents. **** Box Score May 8th, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 3 7 1 5 0 0 7 Keene 44 4 7 0 0 1 2 9 Brinkman 13 0 2 0 2 0 0 0 Suedkamp 35 - - NO SHOW - - - N. They will be trying for their second (2nd) victory and first (1st) in their last four (4) tries. This week, there will be no promotional events and the doors will not open until 5:58. The team has decided they need to practice a little without distractions. They appreciate your cooperation and hope to see you there next Tuesday at 6 P.M. against the "thug e. thugg" Tarheels. **** T-Shirt News **** No, you're not mistaken, that does say t-shirt news. It has been brought to my attention by the Space Cowboys Traveling Softball Team, that shirts can be purchased with a "spectacular" "space cowboy" design from Eggelston & Maynard. I plan to contact them within the next few days to find out more details. But I would like to ask anyone who is still interested in a shirt to email us your "vitals". Such as your, size, and if you prefer, a number (#) and/or name for the back. I will let you know a cost as soon as I have a definite number (#). **** News and Notes **** If you hadn't noticed, Space Cowboy "big man", Keith Suedkamp, was once again MIA. He appears to be even less loyal to the team than Michael Brinkman. His punishment will be brought up at the next "team meeting". **** Season Averages to Date **** Jeffries - Fg. 19/51 37% 3pt 3/26 12% Ft. 4/5 80% Ppg. 9.0 Suedkamp - Fg. 17/44 38% 3pt. 0/3 0% Ft. 5/6 83% Ppg. 13.0 N.
