THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Monday March 18, 2002 Vol.64 Hi, hello and welcome back fellow Cowboys of the Space variety. After a two week layoff, it is once again time for your occasional reminder. **** Game Nine (9) Officially Announced **** After recieving a call from Sports of All Sorts Tuesday Night League Officials, Monday afternoon, it was learned that the Winter Season will continue on for two (2) more weeks. It had been speculated since the conclusion of the Space Cowboys last contest that the season would be extended to the normal ten (10) games, but the official word had not been given. The 'boys till take their three (3) wins and five (losses) into the "big arena by the highway" at nine (9) P.M. Tuesday March 19th. Their opponent has not been identified, but sources close to the team are confident that they will tkae on the "thuggy thuggs" of Famous Dave's. These two programs have split their two (2) earlier meetings. This game is bound to be fabular and spectaculous. So come on out to Sports of All Sorts in Florence at the "early" time of 9 P.M. to watch the Space Cowboys in their quest for the eleusive fourth win when they take on the Famous Dave's "thuggy thuggs". **** 'Boys to Play Shorthanded **** The Space Cowboys will be missing two (2) of their regular starters fro Tuesday's matchup with the "thuggy thuggs". Michael Ash will miss the remaninder of the season with his severly sprained ankle, but will be present for "moral support". THe 'boys will also be missing "big Man" Ben Keene who has left the state for reasons of personal recreation. The absence of Mr. Keene was not known until jut recently. Both of these 'boys are great contributors to the Space Cowboys and will be misswed, but the game goes on and the rest of the team has done their best to find replacments for them. Two (2) 'boys will dawn the Space Cowboys orange tonight for the first time. James "jigga b" Boyer, a 6'0" 220 pound small forward, has been in the Cowboys eyes for quite some time. There was just no room for him. Now, with the strange goings on, Mr. Boyer will get his chance. Not only will he finish out the season with the 'boys, but this will be his oppotunity to shine and earn a spot on the team for the Spring. Joining James as a "first time 'boy" will be Fred. Little is known of Fred other than he is currently employed at the 409 Group with current 'boys Keith Lubbers. Also, the rumor is that Fred was offered a spot as a "walk on" with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, but had to refuse becuase he would have lost his acedemic scholarship and would not have beenb permitted to seek employment. Going on just this rumor, the Space Cowboys expect him to contribute right away. The last of the strange occurances with the Space Cowboys is the status of the aforementioned Keith Lubbers. After being notified of the game time for Tuesday's game, Mr. Lubbers made it perfextly clear that he will be working until 9 P.M., the same time as tipoff. He went on to say the earliest he would be able toget to the game would be at halftime, he works in Mason, OH. This last twist makes those two (2) "aquisistions" that much more important as the 'boys will be playing the first half with just five (5) guys. **** Ash Ties Record **** One item that was missed in the last edition of the Occasional Orbiter was the fact that with his fourteen (14) points Michael Ash extended his streak of consecutive games scoring in double figures to tie the franchise record of thirteen (13). It is not known when Mr. Ash will take the floor with the Space Cowboys, but when he does he will be playing for an unbeleivable record of consitency. **** News and Notes **** Injury Report: Other than mr. Ash the rest of the 'boys seem to be in good shape....Michael Brinkman has been asked to actually show up for this weeks game due to the lack of "players". It is unknown whether he will make his inagural appearance, but he has been asked to "dress". That will be all for this edition of your occasional reminder. Don't forget to come out to the early game, tomorrow Tuesday, March 19 at 9 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. Editor-in-Chief Nick "Stud" Lubbers Space Cowboys are the Coolest
