OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hello fellows Cowboys of the Space variety, it is once again time for your occasional reading. **** Cowboys Drop Second (2nd) in a Row **** Yes, you did read that correctly, the Space Cowboys have lost their second consecutive game. Put together a poor performance from the 'boys overall and a "stellar" game from the "thug e. thugg" Iron Donkey's and you get a eighty-five (85) to sixty-six (66) loss. Things were going wrong even before the game started. A call to the "arena" informed the team the guards, Michael "fatty" Ash, and Jeremy "fatty" Jeffries, were not going to be present for the start of the game due to automotve congestion on the neighboring freeways. This is where I have to give a "hats off" to the Space Cowboys executives. Just two days ago Keith Lubbers was activated from the "DL" for emergency use and he came in very helpful for the shorthanded 'boys. Although he was not very mobile, as his knee is not 100%, Mr. Lubbers scored two (2) points and played some very "tenacious" defense. In the tough loss, their were two bright spots. Guard Mike Ash, after showing up with seven (7) minutes left in the first (1st) half, had his best game of the season by far. But that was overshadowed by yet another missed fast break layup. The other "star" of the came is the up and coming center forthe Space Cowboys Ben Keene. Even though his missed his first shot of the season, he still managed to score, what I believe to be a career high fourteen (14) points. **** Box Score May 1st, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 1 4 1 4 0 0 3 Keene 44 7 9 0 0 0 2 14 Brinkman 13 - - - - - - - Suedkamp 35 4 19 0 1 0 0 8 N. Once again gametime is scheduled for 6 P.M. at Sports of all Sorts in Florence. We are hoping for a big crowd next week as school is winding down. This next game is also a special one, as the Space Cowboys planned a promotional autograph session. Autographs will cost $27 per item except for Jeremy Jeffries, he's just asking for two (2) cheeseburgers a super sized Coke and fries. It's a great way to celebrate the beginning of summer, so grab the kids and head on out to Sports of All Sorts. Pregame festivities begin promptly at 5:31. **** News and Notes **** As expected, after the game, the Space Cowboys purchased the contract of Kevin Brinkman from the Louisville earth Cowboys. Mr. Brinkman continues his progress and defintly can't make the big club any worse. Well, we hope not anyways.....To make room for Kevin on the roster the Space Cowboys have decided to make the roster larger by one (1) player.....More Brinkman news: Michael, the oldest brother of Kevin, was MIA at tonights game. Immediatly following the game rumors began to circulate about his absence. One Cowboy, who spoke on the conidition of not being identified, went as far as saying that the elder Brinkman was to blame for the Cowboys loss. He felt that there was nothing to play for without this nice young gentleman in the crowd. Of course, the guy has no idea what he's talking about, but the loyalty of Michael, is being questioned. **** Season Averages to Date **** Jeffries - Fg. 16/43 37% 3pt 2/21 9% Ft. 4/5 80% Ppg. 9.5 Suedkamp - Fg. 17/44 38% 3pt. 0/3 0% Ft. 5/6 83% Ppg. 13.0 N.
