THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello and welcome fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to this edition of your occasional reading. **** Another Solid Performance, Another "W" **** The Space Cowboys put together their second consecutuve fundamentally sound basketball game in a rowand rolled to a fifty-four (54) to thirty-six (36) victory over the Winnelson "thuggy thuggs". The 'boys, once again were led by the "hot shooting" Mike Ash. It seems that this young star has finnaly begun to play up to his full potential. After years of averages games with glimpses of what he can do showing up occasionally, he has put it all together and is defintkly a force to be reckoned with. In Tuesday nights victory he led the team with twenty-two (22) points, while once again shooting fifty percent (6/12) from behind the arc. Even with Mr. Ash's performance, the 'boys still struggled early on. The shots just weren't falling and the defense was lackluster to say the least. But that, however, would not be the case for long. They began to get into a rhythme offensively and it carried over onto the defensive end. The 'boys ended the half on a little run to opull ahead thirty (30) to twety (20). The second half was all Space Cowboys right from the "get go". And it was due in most part to their tenacious defense. The 'boys held the "thuggy thuggs" to jsut sixteen (16) points in said second half and coasted to the win. it was not only Mr. Ash who led to team to victory, "beg Man" Ben Keene had a very solid game as well to contribute. Mr. Big Man scored a season high seven (7) points, going two (2) for three (3) from the field and three (3) for four (4) from the foul line. But not only did he have a good shooting night, Ben also pulled down a plethora of rebounds and played some stalwart defense. **** Box Score January 15th, 2002 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP K.Lubbers 10 2 9 0 6 0 0 4 Iles 11 1 3 0 1 0 2 2 N.Lubbers 23 4 11 1 5 0 0 9 Jeffries 24 3 8 1 5 1 3 8 Ash 30 8 15 6 12 0 0 22 Keene 44 2 3 0 0 3 4 7 Totals 142 20 49 8 29 4 9 54 41% 28% 44% Attendance: 8 (Batsche, L.Bodde, M.Bodde, Keene, Kidd, 3 Unkowns) Season Attendance: 13 Special Thanks to Scorekeeper Christina Batsche **** Next Game Tuesday January 22nd, 2002 **** The Space Cowboys will be in action once again next Tuesday, January 22nd, at 11 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence.
