THE OCCSASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello and welcome back fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to this, the first edition of your occasional reading in the new year. **** Winter Season Set to Begin **** The Space Cowboys are ready willing and able to finnally get the 2002 Winter Season underway. The 'boys will be taking the court for the first time in over a month on Tuesday January 8th, at 10 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. Being the first game of the season, the opponent is still a mystery to everyone. But the members of our Space Cowboys will be nothing of the sort. Although there were some roster changes made, you will still recognize all of the "fellas" out there on the court. Due to lack of dedication both Scott Trame and Scott Eibel have chosen not to continue playing with the team. We here at the Occasional Orbiter would like to wish them luck with their future endeavors. On the other hand, the newest 'boy to make a comeback will be one David Iles. Mr. Iles was a member of the team for 2 seasons back before the Spring 2001 season. David will bring a little "bounce" to the team on both ends of the court, as he really likes to get on the boards. He will be joined by returning 'boys, Michael Ash, Jeremy Jeffries, "Big Man" Ben Keene, Keith Lubbers and Nick Lubbers. The roster, however, is not carved in stone, perse`. Space Cowboys management would like to make one more trasaction before the game Tuesday night, but they are keeping tight lipped about who they may be interested in. So come support the Space Cowboys as they open the New Year at the "big arena by the highway" on Tuesday January 8th, at 10 P.M. Doors will open at 9:47 with pregame festivities following at approxamatly 9:53. **** Space Cowboys II **** Three of the current Space Cowboys have joined a second team in their neverending quest to better themselves as "basketball players." Michael Ash, Jeremy Jeffries and Nick Lubbers have all been participating in a Sunday night league at the Town and Country Sports Complex in Wilder. They narrowly defeated "We Got Game" in a fifty-two (52) to fifty (50) thriller Sunday night to pull their record to two (2) and three (3). They will be in action once again this Sunday, January 13th, at 6 P.M. at Town and Country in Wilder. **** News and Notes **** Look for both "fat guards" to improve on last seasons numbers. Michael Ash finished strong and has continued to work on his game in the offseason. Jeremy Jeffries struggled lase season, but has also been working on his game this offseason and is bound and determined to be a "large" contributor to the offense. Mr. Jeffries health is also progressing. His right knee, which was injured at the close of the Summer Season, is still not 100%, but is stronger now with the month long break....Kevin Brinkman will once again start the season with the Louisville affiliate Earth Cowboys, with the possibility of a "call-up" at any time. He has ressurected his game to it's former level and now just needs somewhat of a "tune up" before taking the floor with the big club. Helping him with his workouts will be his Buddy Lee, can't bust 'em. That will be all for this New Year edition of the Occasinal Orbiter. We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for Space Cowboys Basketball to get underway. If you ahve any questions of comments please email us at occasionalorbiter@hotmail.com.
