THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER November 11, 2001 Vol. 50 Welcome fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to the most recent edition of your occasional reading. **** 'Boys Defeat "da wang" **** The Space Cowboys notched their second victory of the Fall League Tuesday night as they made more baskets than the PWA Thuggy Thuggs, which added up to a seventy-four (74) to fifty-seven (57) final score. The home team had their best overall game of the season shooting an "en fuego" like fifty-six (56) percent (%) from the field. That coming even with a sloppy second half. The 'boys started out well from the beginning connecting on their first few shots. They never trailed in the game. And with the help of the entire team, minus Scott Eibel, who showed up late to due personal reasons, they jumped out to a fourty-five to nineteen (19) halftime lead. The game in the end was not anywehre near as close as the seventeen (17) point margin that it finished as. The defense started to slack off and the Space Cowboys were just out there having fun in the second half, which they haven't been able to do as of late. The home team came with a balanced scoring attack. Michael Ash came up with a second straight big game with thirteen (13) points and double digits once again. Scott Trame aslo had a solid game shooting a cool seventy-eight (78) percent (%) from the field. **** Box Score November 6th, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP K.Lubbers 10 2 4 1 2 2 5 7 Eibel 11 2 3 0 1 0 0 4 N.Lubbers 23 10 17 3 5 0 0 23 Jeffries 24 3 7 1 3 0 0 7 Ash 30 5 11 3 7 0 0 13 Keene 44 3 5 0 0 0 0 6 Trame 45 7 9 0 0 0 1 14 Toals 187 32 56 8 18 2 6 74 56% 44% 33% Attendance: 6 (Batsche, Brinkman, Cook, Keene, Kidd, Lenihan) Season Attendance: 29 Special Thanks to Scorekeeper Christina Batsche **** Next Game November 13th, 2001 **** The Space Cowboys will next be in action Tuesday, November 13th at 7 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. They will be taking on the "really good basketball players" of BSM. After the 'boys trounced the "thuggy thuggs" last week a few of them overheard the "really good basketball players" talking of their previous victory in which they scored one hundred twenty one (121) points. The home team was quoted as saying, "Well, if they're gonna score one hundred twenty one (121) then I guess we'll have to score one hundred twenty seven (127)." That is exactly the kind of positive thinking that could very well keep these fellas in this game. It will take a lot of hard work and a lot of hard fouls, but nothing is impossible when your name is the Space Cowboys. The 'boys may very well have the help of an extra 'boy. With guard Jeremy Jeffries taking a couple games off to rest his ailing knee, that has opened a roster spot for Kevin Brinkman, who will most likely be making the trip back to the Sports of All Sorts Arena to make his Fall Season debut. Mr. Brinkman will be counted on to draw some offensive fouls and get in the head of the "really good basketball players'" heads. That is something this talented young athelete has been doing for years and we hope he can step it up a notch this week and give the 'boys a chance to pull off the upset. In honor of Mr. Brinkman making his return to the "big club" we will be having a special giveaway. Prior to the 7 P.M. tipoff, Kevin will present one lucky fan with his pown personal Orange Lanyard. This is no joke! The very lanyard he carried for several months, one of hte original few that started the trend, will be available to you. All you have to do is submit an essay between twenty foiur (24) and twenty--seven (27) words explaining why you should recieve this special gift and what it means to you. The winner will be chosen by Mr. Brinkman himself, with some help from the elder Brinkman who is an English teacher at an area high school. So you better do some prewriting and proofreading before submitting your entry. So come on out to Sports of All Sorts in Florence at 7 P.M. this Tuesday, the 13th, for this joyous occasion. Doors will open at 6:45 with pregame festivites following at approxamatly 6:53. **** New Shirts on the Way **** The next batch of Space Cowboys "jerseys" have been ordered. For those of you who are expecting one they will be ready in approxamatly seventeen (17) days and will run somewhere between $11.62 and $13.27. On a side note the team will be presenting their two "favorite" referees with their own "Cowboy Orange". Slim and Ronny will both be receiving complimentary shirts in thanks for their years of service to the team. But don't forget to keep that on the "LD" (Low Down). **** News and Notes **** On behalf of the entire Space Cowboys organization we would like to honor two (2) very loyal fans for attending last Tuesday's basketball contest. Nikole Lenihan and Stacia Cook both made the long drive up from the University of Louisville to witness the shalacking of the "thuggy thuggs". Their presence was appreciated and just may be the reason for such a good showing by the home team. Thanks ladies for being so dedicated to the Space Cowboys.... You weren't mistaken, that was longtime missing Michael Brinkman in the stands making his first appearance of the season....The 'boys are still waiting for the first appearance of one "long time fan" at the Sports of All Sorts Arena. This fan appears to be very dedicated despite the fact of knowing just one or maybe two of the fellas on the roster. This young lady, who attends Bellarmine University will be welcomed with open arms whenever she does decide to make that first appearance. That will be all for the spectaculous edition of the Occasional Orbiter, keep your eyes peeled for the next edition because you never knoe when we will strike next!
