THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hello once again fellow Cowboys of the Spapce variety. Yes, it is time once again for your "occasional" reading. **** Cowboys Drop Second Game of the League **** Yes, we all know it's hard to believe, but our beloved Space Cowboys have lost their second (2nd) game of this new Tuesday night league. It wasn't good from the beginning, as their "big man" Keith Suedkamp, was MIA. There were rumors before the game began that he would be a no show, but there was still hope. This lack of loyalty left the 'boys with onlyfive (5) men to take on the "thug e. thug" Hustlers, led by Lance Shickling. The home team still cam out fighting as all through the first half it was a back and forth battle, but the Hustlers were able to pull ahead at the half by five (5) points. That first (1st) half wasn't all bad for th Cowboys though. They had a great surprise in point guard Jeremy Jeffries actually showing up to play. After pitiful attemps to play basketball in the first (1st) two (2) games of the new league, Mr. Jeffries came out with renewed confidence. With this confidence he did manage his first (1st) three (3) point goal. Although the other seven (7) that he shot weren't of the same result. It was his, and fellow boys Nick Lubbers and Dan Resing's, hot shooting that pulled the 'boys ahead at the begining of the second (2nd) half. But in the end it would not be enough to overcome the Hustlers ninety nine percent (99%) shooting from the floor. One of the downfalls of the game for the home team was not pounding the ball down low to Ben Keene, who failed to even get a shot off, as the one that he had was deflected. This kind of basketball just isn't going to win ballgames, but there's always next week. **** Box Score April 17th, 2001**** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 9 18 1 8 3 3 22 Keene 44 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Brinkman 13 - - - - - - - Suedkamp 35 - - - - - - - N. If anyone else thinks they might be able to get something done about them, just let me know and I will give you the information I have. **** Next Game: Tuesday May 1st, 2001 **** The Space Cowboys will have their "bye" week this coming Tuesday, April 24. THe season will resume Tuesday May 1st, at 6 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. We hope there will be another strong turnout. **** New and Notes **** Kevin Brinkman has shown significant improvment after being optioned back to Louisville. He has written and noted a move up in the lineup coming soon. In his most recent game, we have no idea how many points rebounds blocks or assists he had, but we do no there was a zero (0) in the all important "Teachnical Foul" column. Good work Mr. Brinkman, we're all pulling for you.....Keith Lubbers is making good progress on his injured knee. When asked about it he replied, "It's doing better." Good to hear Keith!!......Lastlythere have been rumors of a demotion in the near future for Keith Suedkamp, i can neither comfirm nor deny these allegations. **** Season Averages to Date **** Jeffries - Fg. 15/39 39% 3pt 1/17 6% Ft. 4/5 80% Ppg. 11.7 Suedkamp - Fg. 13/25 52% 3pt. 0/2 0% Ft. 5/6 83% Ppg. 15.5 N.
