THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello and welcome fellow Cowboys of the Space variety to this fabuler and spectaculous edition of your occasional reading. **** Cowboys Pummeled Again **** The Space Cowboys were overmatched once again as the "thuggy thuggs" of Marty's Pub put a beating on them ninety-one (91) to sixty (60) last Tuesday at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. Things looked bad from the "get go" as the boys were stuck on six (6) points for the majority of the first half. There didn't seem to be anything that could be done to stop these "ballers" from making baskets. Everything seemed to be falling as they pulled out to a remarkable forty-seven (47) to twenty (20) lead at halftime. The home team pull things together a little more in the ssecond half, in the end only being outscored by four (4) points. The finnally started to get some shots to fall and slightly picked the defense up. There was a new contributor for the 'boys. Guard Michael Ash stepped up after struggling through the first few weeks of the season. Mr. Ash poured in three (3) three (3) pointers along with a couple "midrangers" for his first doube-digit performance in over a leage and a half with eleven (11) points. Nice to have you back Mike! "Big man" Ben Keene also had his best game of the Fall season with a solid eight (8) points on four (4) of six (6) shooting. Scott Eibel put in sixteen (16) with Scott Trame also putting thirteen (13) through. The other big story of this game, which has many despite the "waxing" the 'boys took, is Keith Lubbers. Mr. Lubbers has struggled through the first three (3) games failing to connect from the field, going a pitiful zero (0) for sixteen (16). But that streak has finnally come to an end. At the 7:27 mark in the first half of this devastating loss, Keith Lubbers sank his first field goal of the year. A three (3) pointer from the wing. Congratualations Keith, we just hope you can build on that. **** Box Score October 30, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP K.Lubbers 10 1 4 0 2 0 0 3 Eibel 11 5 14 3 8 3 6 16 N.Lubbers 23 2 7 1 4 0 0 5 Jeffries 24 1 8 0 4 0 1 2 Ash 30 4 7 3 5 0 1 11 Keene 44 4 6 0 0 0 0 8 Trame 45 6 13 1 2 3 4 13 Toals 187 22 64 9 28 6 12 60 34% 32% 50% Attendance: 5 (Batsche, Keene, Kidd, Lubbers, A.Trame) Season Attendance: 23 Special Thanks to Scorekeeper Christina Batsche ***** Next Game November 6th, 2001 **** The Space Cowboys will next be in action tomorrow, Tuesday November 6th, at 8 P.M. at Sportso of All Sorts in Florence. The 'boys will try to get back on the winning track against the original "thuggy thuggs" of PWA. That's right, once again the home team will be battling the likes of "Lil Wang", "G-Bo" and "Oz". This game is a "must see" for any and all Space Cowboy fans. The two teams have not met since the prior to when records were kept, in the Sunday morning league. In both the meetings the Space Cowboys came out victorious by a multitude of points, winning by an average of thiry-nine point six seven (39.67) points. And although the teams have both made personell changes it is expected to be a good "basetkball contest". The 'boys will defifntly come out ready to play against these "thuggs". So come on out to Sports of All Sorts in Florence at 8 P.M. to see your Space Cowboys battle the original "thuggy thuggs". Doors will open at 7:47 with pregame festivities following at approxamatly 7:54. If the thought of great fundamental basketball isn't enough to get "yo sorry ass" out to the Sports of All Sorts Arena, then this, the first ever promotion involving the opposition just might do it. Tomorrow, Tuesday the 6th is going to be "Lil Wang Day". Bobblehead Dolls were ordered for the occasion, but the company could not meet the specifications that were requested for the "Lil Wang Bobblehead Dolls", due to religious beliefs so we came up with a little better idea. The first twenty-seven (27) fans in attendance will each recieve a free "peep show". That's right, those lucky fans will all get to see the "original Lil Wang". It has been coordinated with the highest ranking officials of PWA that Mr. Wang has indeed agreed to comply weith the Space Cowboys request. When asked about it he stated, "The Space Cowboys are one of the best rganizations around. They have the best fan base I have evere seen, and if they want to see "lil wang", then they'll get to see THE "lil wang"." The entire Space Cowboy organization would like to thanks PWA and Mr. Wang for their cooperation in this exhilarating event. We hope everything goes off without a hitch and is followed by the great rivalry between these two (2) teams that we have grown accustomed to. So don't forget, tomorrow, 8 P.M. Sports of All Sorts in Florence. Lil Wang. **** New Shirt Order **** A few member of the Space Cowboys are going to be branching out in the near future and it may end up being a good deal for you. These 'boys are going to be playing in another basketball league at the Basketball Complex at Town and Country in Wilder. They will be doing so to improve themselves for the team. In creating a new team, jersey are an essential and in a money saving move, they have decided to remain with the Space Cowboy logo and patented orange. So anyone who would like to own their own personal Space Cowboys "jersey" is welcome to submit their order to us here at the Occasional Orbiter. You will need to provide a shirt size, and the name and number you would like on the back, if you would like one at all. This information must be recieved by no later than 12:00 A.M. (midnight) Friday November 9th, 2001. If you want to be just like the Space Cowboys, get your order in now! **** News and Notes **** Injury Report: Guard Jeremy Jeffries is still struggling with his knee, but he will be in the lineup for tomorrow's matchup with PWA....Michael Brinkman was once again missing from last Tuesday's game. No one knows if he will ever return....Also up in the air is the status of longtime 'boy Kevin Brinkman. Mr. Brinkman has been playing in the Louisville Fall League will mixed results. The Spapce Cowboys would love nothing more than to call this young "prospect" up to the big club, but there are some technical problems. Mr Brinkman may not be available until the beginning of the Winter League. That will be all for this edition of the Occasional Orbiter.
