THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER October 25, 2001 Vol. 48 Hey,whas happenin fellow Cowboys of the Space variety? It's once again time for your occasional reading. **** 'Boys Victorious **** The Space Cowboys claimed their first victory of the Fall Season over the "nit wit" "ass" Rednecks sixty-four (64) to fifty-five (55). The home team came out shooting looking to avenge their worst performance ever last week again the "thugg e. thuggs". They started out hot jumping to an early lead. A lead which they would hold onto for the remainder of the game. The first half was once of pure dominance for the 'boys. They were getting inside and owning the "boards" on both the offensive and defensive ends. "Big man" Ben Keene was in there battling along with Scott and Scott. All those fellas had their share of rebounds and "put backs" which in the end was the difference in the game. At the beginning of the second half the Rednecks went on a bit of a run. With approxamatly eight (8) minutes left the Cowboys lead had been cut from as many as twenty-one (21) all the way down to six (6). But they would not crack under the pressure. A few key shots were made along with connecting from the free throw line. For the most part this game was all Space Cowboys. The score does not due justive to the type of game that was played, especially after last week's drubbing. The bright spots for the 'boys were the two "newcomers". Both Scott Eibel and Scott Trame finished with sixteen (16) points and nu,merous rebounds and stiffling defense. And we can't forget, as always, the work of "big man" Ben Keene on the "low block". **** Box Score October 23, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP K.Lubbers 10 0 4 0 2 0 0 0 Eibel 11 6 10 2 4 2 4 16 N.Lubbers 23 7 14 4 8 3 4 21 Jeffries 24 1 8 1 7 0 0 3 Ash 30 1 7 1 5 3 5 6 Keene 44 3 4 0 0 0 0 6 Trame 45 0 6 0 1 2 6 16 Toals 187 24 56 8 26 10 17 64 43% 31% 59% Attendance: 7 (Batsche, Kaylor, Keene, Kidd, Lubbers, Mmrrrr, A.Trame) Season Attendance: 18 Special Thanks to Scorekeeper Christina Batsche **** Next Game Tuesday October 30, 2001 **** The Space Cowboys will be in action once again next Tuesday, Octoberr 30 at 8 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. They will be taking on the "thuggy thuggs" of Marty's Pub. Last season the two (2) teams split the two (2) games that they played. As has been the case, nothing new is known of them; new editions and whatnot. The home team will be looking to keep the momentum going in a positive direction after their first victory Tuesday night. Another win would put them right back into the thick of things in the quest for their first ever Sports of All Sorts Tuesday Night League Championship. So get "yo self" on out to Sports of All Sorts, Tuesday October 30 at 8 P.M. to see what all the fuss is really about. Doors will open at 7:49 with pregame festivites following at approxamatly 8:55. **** News and Notes **** Imjury Report: Keith Lubbers is suffering from a bruised ego as he has not connected from the field in any of the 'boys first three (3) games going a dreadful zero (0) for sixteen (16). His teamates are far from losing faith in the young "gunslinger", said one Cowboy, "Damn, he hasn't made a shot yet?"....On the other hand, "small" forward Scott Trame raised his field goal percent (%) to sixty (60) perent (%) after an unbeleiveable seven (7) of nine (9) performance Tuesday.... With "fat" guards Jeremy "pudge ball" Jeffries and Mike "fat" Ash joining the new Gold's Gym, you better get your fat jokes in now. These to pudge balls will be nothing of the sort within just weeks of starting their vigtores workouts. Watchout Gold's Gym, here come some pretty dedicated fellas, just look at 'em. That will do it for this edition of the Occasional Orbiter. Keep an eye out for your next occasional reading, because you never know when it may come.
