THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello and ewlcome once again, fellow Cowboys of the Space variety. It's time for your occasional reminder. The Space Cowboys will face their toughest obstacle in the road to a perfect season this week. The 'boys will be opposing the Holt "thuggy thuggs", who also have not lost a game. This "battle of the unbeatens" will begin at 6 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence this Tuesday, August 28th. The big question for this week's game is whether or not guard Ted Arlinghaus will be present. After making the trip up from Lexingtono last week, Mr. Arlinghaus mentioned the possibility of playing softball instead of making hte trek once again. This could turn outto be very devastating for the Cowboys, as Ted is the leader, and leading scorer on the team. Not to say that it's out of the question for the 'boys to come out on top without Ted "im too scared to miss one softball game to beat the only other undefeated team in the league" Arlinghaus. Even with him, to defeat the "thuggy thuggs" it would take a complete team effort. They will need not just one (1) or two (2) guys to step up, every Space Cowboy must be on his game, hustle and hopefully get some bounces. If any team is capable of pulling off, what would still be considered an upset, it is these Space Cowboys. If this type of matchup isn't enough to get you out tothe "big arena by the highway", do we have something for you. This Tuesday will be yet another "Orange Lanyard Giveaway Night". The fourth (4th) fan in attendance will recieve one (1) free autographed oragne lanyard. IT will be signed by all eleven (11) official members of the Space Cowboys. That includes Michael AND Kevin Brinkman, along with John Moore and "big man" Ben Keene. This isn't something you'll be able to find at the corner store. There is only one way to get this greatest of all collectores items. And that is to come out to Sports of All Sorts this Tuesday, the 28th, to supports out Space Cowboys in the "battle of the unbeatens". We here at the Occasional Orbiter would like to correct the times given in the previous edition for this week's game. IT was announced that the doors will open at 6:28 with pregame festivities following at 6:35. Obviously, since the game itself begins at 6, those times are incorrect. The doors will be opening at 5:28 with prpegames festivities beginning at approxamtly 5:35. We are very sorry for any inconvienience this may have caused. And we hope to see all lof you there in your orange to root the home team to victory. **** Space Cowboys Softball Update **** The inaugeral season for the Space Cowboys Softball Team ended on Friday with a first round exit in the tournament. The 'boys fell to eight (8) to two (2) in what would be their first and only game of the tournament. Although things looked bright to start the game, they jumped out to an early two (2) to nothing (0) lead. It didn'ttake long for them to get back to old form. Before long flyballs were dropped and the ball fo the soft variety was tossed about the infield. From that point on the 'boys didn't even threaten, going quietly in the ninth (9th). This first year for the 'boys wa s somewhat of a rough one, finishing with a horrid two (2) and ten (10) record. But it won't be the last of them. These guys are dedicated to makeing a success out of the Space Cowboys Softball franchise. It took the basketball side of things years to get where they are today. We only hope hat one dat the softball fellas can be at that same level of domination. That will be it for this occasional reminder. We want to hear from you.
