THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello and welcome to the newest edition of your occasional reading. **** Cowboys Remain Undefeated **** The Space Cowboys continued their wining streak tonight at Sports of All Sorts defeating the Sports of All Sorts "thugg e. thuggs" fifty-four (54) to fifty (50). Overall the home team didn't play the kind of game they were hoping for, but they did come out with a "w" and that's all that matters when it comes down to it. The game was a close one from the "get go". It was a "seesaw" battle, with the "thugg e. thuggs" holding a slim two (2) point margin at halftime. But the game, albeit a good one, wasn't exciting until the end. With less than one minute remaining and the 'boys inbounding the ball under the opponents basket, the "thuggs" made a "mental mistake". The "intentially" fouled "big man" Ben Keene to send him to the line for the one (1) plus (+) one (1), for they had no confidence that you could connect. But little did they know that Mr. Keene is "the" clutch free throw shooter and he sank them both to solidify the lead. Mike Ash would also add a free throw, along with Ted Arlinghaus hitting an amazing eight (8) of ten (10). In the end it was the free throws that won this game. The 'boys will be vying to tie a team record third (3rd) straight win. This would also be the first time that the season was opened with three (3) consecutive victories. The 'boys will also be trying to step up there performance as they have yet to ahve a solid shooting game in their first two (2) wins of this young league. So don't miss out on this history making event, when the Space Cowboys take on the "thuggy thugg" Hustlers, next Tuesday, July 31st, at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. If great basketball with historic possibilities isn't enough to get you out to Sports of All Sorts, maybe this will confince you. Next Tuesday will be Space Cowboys "orange underwear giveaway night". As not to confuse anyone; the first six (6) fans in attendance will recieve the very orange underwear that your Space Cowboys will be sporting during the game. Once the game is complete, they will rip it off and personally present them to the lucky winners. Pictures and autographs will also be available for the winners. Doors open at 7:43. Pregame festivites will begin approxamalty 7:54. **** News and Notes **** This just in. There has been a Ben Young sighting. Mr. Young has signed the "official guest book" of the Space Cowboys saying: "Name : Ben "#1 fan" Young Favorite 'Boy : too hard to choose Comment : It would seem an apology is in order, so I won't make any excuses. I'm a jerk and I dont deserve the above-mentioned nickname. I'll try like hell to be at the rest of the games." All we have to say Ben, is you damn well better show up to the rest of the games. There were rumors flying around of Mr. Young not being permitted on the Sports of All Sorts premesis anymore....At the completion of play tonight the Space Cowboys officially called up "emergency replacement" Keith Lubbers. Mr. Lubbers will be inserted into the lineup next week when Kevin Brinkman and Dan Resing will be away on "personal leave". They were advised that present time wasn't the best to be taking off, but they would have none of it. We just hope the other members of the team can step up to fill the shoes of these two (2) undedicated 'boys....Speaking of "undedcated", it appears that Dan Huhn was just jumping on hte "space"wagon" last season, making appearances at the final few games. Mr. Huhn has not been seen as of late and there will defintely be rude welcoming if and when he finaly does show up....**The Space Cowboys have tied their single game attendance record at fourteen (14). If those names are recieved it will be noted in the next edition. **** Space Cowboys Softball Update **** Still, they aren't any good, but will take the field anyway this Friday at 6:15 adn 7:15 at Meiken Field in Latonia.
