THE OCCSASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello, and welcome back, fellow Cowboys of the Space variety. After a long "layoff" it's once again time for your occasional reading. **** New League Set to Begin **** The Space Cowboys are tentatvily scheduled to begin their new season this coming Tuesday, July 3rd. This date has not officially been confirmed, but is believed to be the "start date". There has been a lot of "behind the scenes" action going on. To begin, Keith Suedkamp has been placed on waivers and has accepted assignment to the Lousiville affiliate "Earth Cowboys". This move was deifintely not a surprise and a smart one by SC management. Rejoining the 'boys after a three (3) year layoff is Ted Arlinghaus. Mr. Arlinghaus was a member of the team when they were known simply as "Ash". He had a solid season and we are glad to have him back in the Cowboy orange, even though they wore white "back in the day'. There are also a few other deals rumored to be in the works, but details are not available. We here at the Occasional Orbiter along with the Space Cowboys are very excited and enthusiastic reguarding the upcoming league. There is bound to be weeks of "great basketball". More details concerning the league and specifially the first game will come as we recieve them. **** T Shirt Update **** As of right now, 2:40 A.M., June 28, 2001, no word has come from Eggelston & Maynard sports related to the new shirts ordered. The date that was recieved from them as to the completion of the order was June 20th, which has obviously passed. We will be checking with them in the coming days. The asumption is that they are completed and we simply haven't been notified as of yet. The money for the shirts is still being collected, we would appreciate it as soon as it is convinient for you. The price once again is thirteen (13) dollars ($) per shirt. And we would like to reiterate the "no money no shirt policy", this being done to cut down on the financial loss of the shirt "investors". As with the league, more information will be out when available. **** Space Cowboys Softball Update **** Now some quick news with the Space Cowboys Softball Team. They still haven't won and Michael Ash is still searching for his first hit as we approach what is beleived to be the fifth (5) game of the season. Mr. Ash is making progress, in last Friday's defeat he reached base for the first time on a fielders choice. For anyone who would like to support the softball team, the next contest will be this Friday, June 29th at 6:15 P.M. at the new sports complex at FOPA in Latonia. Come and join the "Mike Ash Hit Watch", as we all don't dare hold our breath while he reaches deep down for that first base knock. Pregame festivities begin approxamatly 5:57. That will be it for this edition of the Occasional Orbiter, but keep your eyes open for your next "occasional" reading. And, as always, new subscibors are always welcome, just send an email address to occasionalorbiter@hotmail.com and say "new subscribor"! Editor-in-Chief Nick "Stud" Lubbers wee eee wee eee
