THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hi, hello, and welcome, fellow Cowboys of the Space variety, it's time for your occasional reading. **** Cowboys back on Winning Track **** The Space Cowboys avenged a loss at the buzzer in the first game of the season to the Fillabong "whiny thuggy thugs" Tuesday night in grand fashion, by pummeling them sixty-six (66) to forty-three (43). Things were going pretty well for the home team right from the beginning. They jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Guard, Jeremy Jeffries led the early charge with fourteen (14) points in the first half. But he wasn't the only reason for the rare "w". The "whiny thuggy thugs" had their part in it too. Not only were they just not very good, they were "bitches". Everyone gets fouled at some point or another, and most of the time that foul is called. But these "fellas" thought that they were better than the refs and cried every time they were touched, not even allowing them time to call said foul. Needless to say the Cowboys used this to their advantage. Especially forward Kevin Brinkman, he just played mind games with the "whiny thuggy thuggs" getting them even more upset with themselves and each other. This was a great victory for the Space Cowboys and we only hope they can build on it. ****Box Score June 5th 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 7 13 2 5 0 0 16 Keene 44 4 6 0 1 1 2 9 Brinkman 13 0 3 0 2 0 0 0 Suedkamp 35 5 15 1 2 4 4 15 N. They will be taking on the JTC "thug e. thuggs", whom in their one meeting earlier this season lost to the Cowboys. Their is bound to be some "great basketball" going on, so don't miss out. Also, this will be the Cowboys last game of this season, as they have already been mathematically eleminated from the playoffs. But that doesn't mean this game isn't worth coming to. The 'boys always want to give back, and that's exactly what they will be doing this week. Tuesday night will be Fan Appreciation Night. All fans attending the game will be permitted in the arena free of charge. But wait, that's not all! It will also be Photo Day! Everyone will be premitted on the court prior to the game to have their photo taken with their favorite Space Cowboy. No cameras will be provided and the pictures will be "clothing optional". So don't miss out on the FAN-tastic opportunity to get up close and personal with the Space Cowboys. Doors will open at 8:35, and photos can be taken up until 8:39. Normal pregame festivites begin at approxamatly 8:49. **** News and Notes **** On the injury front: It appears Kevin Brinkman (bruised finger) and Dan Resing (whooped by a girl) are not completely over their injuries as they went a combined one (1) for ten (10) from the field in Tuesday's victory....Cowboy "big man" Keith Suedkamp made his first appearance in two (2) weeks....We would like to welcome Dan Huhn to the Cowboy family, it appears Mr. Huhn has jumped on the ""space"wagon" making his first appearance in the stands. His loyalty already seems to be greater than that of Michael Brinkman....****The Space Cowboys single game attendance record of eleven (11) was broken as thirteen (13) loyal fans packed Sports of All Sorts to cheer the team to victory....Luis Quinones has been designated for assingment. This move was made on the recent conclusive findings that he is not much of the basketball player....The 'boys once again scored within their now lowered range of fifty-seven (57) and sixty-eight (68), coming in at sixty-six (66). **** T-Shirt Reminder **** Just a reminder to those of you who have the "official" Space Cowboys t-shirt on order. The shirts will be thirteen (13) dollars ($) and as mentioned before no shirts will be given out until the proper fundage has been paid. Money will be accepted at any time. Shirts are due in approxamately two (2) weeks. **** Space Cowboys Softball Update **** The Space Cowboys Softball team will be trying to gain all the respect and self confidence back that they lost in the sixteen (16) to nothing (0) shalacking the took last week. They will try to do so this coming Friday, June 8th, at 6:15 (I beleive) at the new sports complex at FOPA in Latonia. Pregame festivites begin approxamately 5:55.
