THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hello once again fellow Cowboys of the Space variety, yes it is once again time for you occasional reading. **** Black Day for Space Cowboys **** Once again the Space Cowboys came up on the short end of the stick. All of the rumors that were circulating, most of which started here, were proven false just before the start of the game. Those rumors being that the home team would have a chance for a "w", and that the Owens-Illinois team, were "old men". When the 'boys took the floor for warmups and looked to the other end of the court, they saw none other than the six (6) foot, eight (8) inch, Anthony Matracia; Kentucky All-Star, and Northern Kentucky player of the year for Scott Hhigh School. Needless to say, this lowered their spirits dramatically. The game did start out positive for the 'boys though. They jumped out to an early eleven (11) to eight (8) lead. After that they went "ice cold" from the field, falling behind twenty-eight (28) to eleven (11). From that point on it was pretty much all Mr. Matracia. He scored an approxamate thrity-five (35) points, and seemed to be involved in every posession, helping to manipulate the Cowboys defense. Included in his point total are his 6576547 dunks. In the end it was just too much and the score showed it. The 'boys fell eight-eight (88) to fifty-seven (57). There were, as always a bright spot or two for the Cowboys. Emergency fill-in Keith Lubbers had the game of his carreer, coming in offthe bench to score ten (10) points, all in the second half. This was done on perfect three (3) of three (3) shooting from beyond the arc. He also played some tenecious defense. Mr. Lubbers just may have earned himself a permanent spot on the roster with his "stellar" performance. Also, guard Michael Ash had a solid game, going five (5) for ten (10) form behind the three (3) point line for a team high nineteen (19) points. ****Box Score May 29th 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 4 18 1 8 0 0 9 Keene 44 0 6 0 0 0 0 0 Brinkman 13 2 10 1 6 0 2 5 Suedkamp 35 NO SHOW N.
